QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) Hey you're right, add another HOF candidate in Gould. One of the most accurate kickers of all time. I'm sure Lovie really coached him up to be the kicker he is today though right? I stopped reading after seeing Gould as possible HOF candidate. SMH

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) Ditka took a crappy team and molded into one of the greatest teams ever (if not the best). He's always going to be loved for that, though I do think the praise is a bit much. He pretty much flamed out the last few years. Speaking of, the NFL Network's special on Ditka was great, if anyone hasn't seen it. Wow, just wow. Let's be honest, Ditka inherited one if not the best defenses ever, they won the SB because of that defense, Buddy Ryan deserved more credit. That 80's Bears team SHOULD have won more than just one SB, if we are gonna talk about luck, Ditka is it. Ditka had an all time great D, had Walter Payton and a stud O line and you only get one SB appearance? Fail.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) This Lovie "love" is freaking hilarious. The guy is incredibly average at best. His in-game decisions are right up there with Andy Reid. Remove Devin Hester and a top 5 defense for the majority of his tenure and this team misses the playoffs every freaking year. Lovie is the luckiest coach in the league, no one else is even close. Look at some of the impressive wins this year against Atl and now Det. Defensive TO's into points and special teams. Fluke, fluke, fluke. That's the story of the Bears' success during his tenure. That's true for the SB run (mostly fluke) and last years NFC Champ run (all fluke). Re: Luck. This is turning into the Bush v. Williams debate, where 6 months of talking about it has made Bush (Luck) into a 100% guarantee. How'd Bush's career turn out? I'm sure Luck will be a good NFL QB, potentially great as all signs point to him being ahead of the curve at his age. But this crap about trading away a Hall of Famer is hilarious. There's no other option for the Colts. You draft him and you keep him. PERIOD. You cannot take the chance of Luck being a bust (happened before) and Manning still having some years left. Take the best of both worlds - hall of fame qb for another 3-4 seasons with his replacement waiting in the wings. Two of the best QB's right now - Brady and Rogers - both said this was a huge part of why they're as good as they are right now. Lovie is one of the reasons Chicago has a solid D, our main problems have been on the offensive side of the ball...Lovie's defensive philosophy is a bend and don't break D, don't give up big plays and make the other team cough up the ball, turnovers aren't "luck" GMAFB, more like good teams create their own breaks.

Right now Green Bay looks head and shoulders above everyone but their D has given up a lot of points, I would really love to see the Bears and Packers play right now that the Bears are gelling to see where we are at level wise.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) Guys, is Lovie Smith a very good coach? I'm afraid to believe he is, but I feel like he's converting me. He's waaaay better than Iron Mike yet Ditka is a legend in Chicago, Lovie needs a SB win to cement his place in Bears football lore.

I watched the game on Fox Sports Mexico and one of the broadcasters took issue with the personal foul issued against Briggs, he said "what's Briggs suppossed to do there?Say to Johnson, hello Mr Calvin Johnson, I'm Lance Briggs, would you kindly permit me to wrap my arms around you and gently lay you on othe ground?Thank you."That's a BS call, it was a good clean hit and this is NFL football. That cracked me up...Briggs gets a PF and Fairley driving Cutler into the ground and Suh trying to rip Cutler's head off go unpenalized, not to mention Stafford's dirty play. f*** Detroit.

If the Bears take care of business next week vs the Chargers, who would've predicted the Bears would be 7-3 after 10 games, even more impressive since the schedule wasn't soft by any means...the Bears are playing some good football right now, especially with the addition of Bennet and the O line stepping up and not sucking recently.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) We WILL win on Sunday, I have absolutly no doubt. I called it Why is Cutler still in? Detroit is a dirty team, you don't want to give them a chance to lay a dirty hit on your star QB in a game that's been decided. Detroit sucks ass.

Detroit is very aggressive rushing the QB, gotta call some screen passes.Good first half overall but a little bit of a letdown towards the end of the first half, Detroit plays really well in 2nd half of games, Bears gotta step it up and finish the game strong.

Hopefully this loss drops PSU 25 spots in the rankings.

and that should do it, screw you Paterno

Dammit Nebraska, hold on! I know this game means nothing to the victims but I don't want to see the PSU players deliver the game ball to that enabler.

Penn State horror story
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) You are right. McQueary should have done that but he didn't. Then Paterno should have done it for McQueary and supported McQueary, but he did the minimum. He passes it on and its covered up. Penn State Football was the most important thing to these people. Not right or wrong, not children's safety and future quality of life. If the Big Ten had any balls they would expel Penn State from their conference. If the NCAA had any balls, they would find a way to ban Penn State football for a long time. QFT f***in Paterno and all those who covered up the sick perv's dispicable crimes should go to jail and ban Penn State, the very least they can do...

Phillies sign Jim Thome
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Actually, an NL team is ideal for a guy that will primarily be a pinch-hitter. And Thome will get plenty of run with Howard out to start '12. lol! I see what you did there, lol!

QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) So this morning grades came out and I lost seven players, including three starters. We were playing the first round of a tournament. It was the worst display of sportsmanship I have ever witnessed at a kid's game. The fans of the other team, parents and coaches, were yelling obscenities, accusing the ref of accepting a bribe, etc. Six of their kids received yellow cards and one red card for sweaing at the ref or complaining about calls. Four of the parents were removed from the field. We were losing 0-1 with about six minutes to play. I look up from 3/4 of a field away my keeper was getting a yellow card. I ask why and learn he was sitting down. OK, I forgot to tell him about that one. My second and third string keepers were suspended for academics, so I had no one. I grabbed a kid thinking it's only for one play. As he comes to the sideline I hear him say loudly, what the f***?! Well, now he's going to be sitting longer. The ref comes over a minute or two later and reminds me that I can bring him back in. I explain he used foul language on the sideline and would not be returning. Thirty seconds later my striker is down in the box and we're getting a penalty kick. 1-1! The obscenities really begin to fly. When we go to penalty kicks I put my keeper back in the game. The other coach starts screaming that he had gotten a red card and can't be playing. The referee explains it was only a yellow card. The coach screams, no it wasn't or he would have been back in the game. I am about 10 yeards away and say, "I don't tolerate yellow cards from my players so I sat him for the rest of the game to teach him a lesson about sportsmanship" and walked back to my kids. The other parents started mocking me. We won the toss and elected to go first. 3-3 in the first set. Then we went to sudden death. We made the first one, they hit it right at my keeper. Victory. We lined up and waited, and waited, and watched them get on the bus. I spoke with the team about being winners 168 hours a week. Called the other team losers. And started planning for the game(s) Saturday. Wow, they really get into those games, congrats on the win and an awful display of unsportsmanship from the other team, those coaches need to realize they are dealing with kids and as important as winning a game is how you play the game...

Republican 2012 Nomination Thread
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) So in tonight's campaign, Rick Perry says he wants to eliminate three departments from the federal government. Then he can only name two of them. Yeah, it was really bad...Romney will win the nomination by default unless Cain can pull a Clinton (I doubt it), Perry pretty much killed his chances tonight. Everybody has had a brainfart like that but just wait til the late night talk show hosts and SNL are done with Perry, they're gonna be ruthless.

Jesse Ventura may run for President
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) I have so little faith in mainstream politicians that I'd vote for Ventura just for the hell of it. He really believes in the NWO and Illuminati taking over the world, we need to stop them!
