2011 ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers Thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 9, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) Verlander threw 82 pitches. Pretty risky to bring him back on only 3 day's rest, but they might have no choice if they're down 3-0 or most likely 2-1. How many times has he gone on only 3 days in his career? Very rarely if ever, I was reading a Tigers forum where it explained that Verlander has a whole physical routine he goes through to get ready to pitch, that's why he's never gone in as relief, at least that's what that forum said.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) He was 82. Those things just happen at that age. As I said on Facebook, all of the eulogizing (not that it's happening here) of Al Davis seems almost hypocritical. It was the same thing with George Steinbrenner? Two pieces of crap who wielded absolute power and forced everyone to bend to their will. A jagoff who dies isn't suddenly a good person, just a dead jagoff. lol On a sidenote, not feeling too confident on MNF's game...hope the Bears are ready to play or it could get ugly real quick.

2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 07:55 AM) Stat of the Day: The last seven years, the winner of Game 1 of a Division Series has won the series 25 out of 28 times. I wish they had time to expand all rounds to best-of-7, but that's just me. And this year, 3 out the 4 teams that jumped to a 1-0 series lead eventually lost...

2011 NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
What's so cool about these playoffs now is that any of these last 4 teams can win, there really isn't a super favorite now that Philly and NYY are history. I'd like to see the Brewers win it all.

The morning after poll
I voted no. First thing, I loved me some Robin Ventura as a Sox player, one of a very few bright spots of the dark 90's era of the White Sox. That being out of the way, I feel he'll be unprepared for the rebuilding we are gonna be having in the south side (I agree with those who say KW isn't the GM we need to draft young talent but oh well), I wanted Dave Martinez for this reason, being there with Joe Maddon overseeing the developing of young talent the Rays have done since Maddon's tenure began. I think Ventura can develope into a decent manager, everwhere I've read has it that Ventura has a sharp baseball mind but he's gonna learn in the big stage and that's an awfully hard place to learn how to manage, I wish he would've been coaching somewhere in our farm system before taking on this job. I really hope I'm wrong but we are in for some tough times...and it will suck if Martinez is successful wherever he goes because he will be manager of a MLB club very soon.

I'll stick with the Tigers since I predicted that they would get to the WS only to get pounded by Milwaukee so... Let's go BREWERS!!!

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) Wow, this guy is a dumbass. I think that was the conventional wisdom, I thought Fister would do a bit better this time but I still thought the Yanks would win.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 08:39 AM) Only a half-fail...he did hit the over! I should've bolded the last part of iamshack's post, it was his statement of not trusting EJax vs Phillie's line-up that my fail comment was aimed at.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) Going to bet on the Phillies to close it out tonight and go over the total...Phi -120 and over 7.5 Edwin, I love you man...but I don't trust you so much against this lineup... Fail!

2011 ALDS Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Thread
Last night was the best chance to end the series for Detroit and they got blown out, I don't like their chances in gm 5, but hey, that's why you play the games, anything can happen in baseball, that's why it's the most awesome sport, especially this time of year. Hoping for the upset, GO TIGERS!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) lol. How can you possibly hate Tampa? I took a disliking to them when they ran over us in 08 and their fans don't even care enough to sell out their park come playoff time so SCREW THEM!!!

2011 ALDS Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) I'm not sure what people have against the Tigers (except Valverde). They played the right way. They were just decent, but saw their opportunity and made some key additions to the team in-season. They're not the Twins that perennially piss on us or the Indians with their terrible fans. I have no problem whatsoever rooting for the Tigers. +1

I don't like Country music, in fact, I hate it but there are few Country acts I don't find disagreeable like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Some old stuff by Hank Williams Sr is ok but damn his son sucks, and he's annoying as f***, and it's got nothing to do with his politics, he's just comes off as an arrogant meathead to me.
