  1. I'm glad I'm not getting MLB extra innings this season,I would be pulling my hair out like I did in 2007
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 28, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) I'm getting pretty excited for this Costa Rica/Mexico match on Telemundo. Hopefully CR can pull the big upset and we can watch the Mexican team start their demise. The US and Mexico will move on to the World Cup where they both will underperform as usual...
  3. with all the gloom and doom posts here i can see we are all in mid season form,or is this a Bears forum?
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) yes but what about when we averaged 11 wins for 1999-2003 I still hate that awful little fat f*ck Krause with a passion...
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 12:09 AM) And the USA shouldn't want to play those teams either. Continually going up against Argentina and Brazil will be a lot different than El Salvador and Canada. I totally disagree, only way to become good is by beating good teams...you learn nothing beating Trinidad and Tobago.
  6. 78 wins,I'm not optimistic at all,we are still a station to station offense and we might have the worst fielding team in the last 10 years...hope I'm wrong.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 09:48 AM) By getting Latin American countries involved in the league you could potentially create a posting style system where Messi could leave, but the European clubs would have to pay a ridiculous transfer fee. Over night the league couldnt compete, but if over a 10 year period the league started to get chances at the best South American players, eventually the competition level would rise. (Edit) Or they could fund the established academys in South America and then try and get them to sign before they even go to clubs like Boca Juniors, etc. The key is the US money with the South American talent. thats a tough sell, for Argentine,Brazilian,Uruguayan etc kids, there is the prestige of following in their idols foot steps, where Maradonna,Rivaldo,Batistuta,Zambrano,Forlan,Ronaldihno,Marquez gave their countrymen pride by leading Real Madrid,AC Milan,Liverpool,Inter,Barca and so on to league titles and interleague cups. To play for those teams is what those kids dream their whole lives.
  8. While I'm no soccer fanatic,I've played with some decent players and its hard as hell, its a lot harder to control a ball with your feet than with your hands,it takes a lot of skill, that writer obviously never played soccer in his life... Although soccer is tedious to watch, you can pretty much say every team sport is boring...we all know what they say about baseball, football with its 5 seconds of action and a minute of big slobs picking themselves up an rumbling to the huddle and lining up,basketball with the endless scoring,it becomes repeatitive, only the last 2 minutes of the game are worth watching and hockey is just up and down, can't see the damn puck, toothless goons with funny names beating on each other, boring!!! It's easy to denigrate a sport...
  9. Regardless if we get Cutler (almost zero chance) or not,Chicago is where QBs go to die,how can an organization be so inept at drafting and developing quaterbacks?Look at all the other teams in the time we last had a decent qb (McMahon) and you'll notice they all have had at least a couple of above avg passers to our zero (Kramer had a decent but injury plagued career with us)...it has to be more than bad luck imo,I dunno what it is but its frustrating as hell.
  10. Obviously Cutler would be a big upgrade at QB for us but I wouldn't trade Forte for him.
  11. I agree with everyone here that Schilling was a dick but if you needed one game to win,you can't name too many other pitchers in the last 20 years you'd rather have than Schilling...the guy was a fierce competitor and lights out come crunch time,HOFer for me.
  12. I know Swish was brutal last year but considering the other options we are left with,it was a mistake to get rid of him,I believe he would've had a good comeback year for us...he couldn't be worse than what he did last year...
  13. Japan is the Brazil of international baseball,damn...
  14. The Cubs can go 162-0 and have a run differential of 10+ runs a game and those idiots will find a way to choke in crunch time...
  15. I love it when my Cubs fans friends always end the debates about our teams with," Chicago has been and always will be Cub town, there are a lot more Cubs fans than White Sox fans"!And I tell them, that's cool,at least you'll have lots of company to drown out your sorrows after the Cubs do their annual choke job come playoff time Cubs baseball, sucking for 100 years and going!!
  16. I didn't know it was a prerequisite to be 100% for capitalism and against all other forms of economic systems to come here and play in the Major Leagues...
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) You mean like when he called Obama a "poor ignoramus", over the weekend? OK,I didn't see that quote, but if he did call Obama a "poor ignoramus"(I imagine HC said pobre ignorante),by extension did he call us all poor ignoramuses? No,I like Obama but just like W,he is not the nation. If you disagree that means if you dislike HC and you critcize him,you dislike and criticize all Venezuelans. Can't have it both ways.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) It seems a little odd to me that a guy who fled his country to make tons of money would be in support of Hugo Chavez, but it gives me yet another reason to hate this guy. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...V3SvaAD96UKOL80 Maggs never "fled" Venezuela,I have Venezuelan friends and you are free to leave or enter Venezuela as you wish...Maggs was offered an opportunity to play baseball and make a nice living and like we all would have done,he took it.Good for him.
  19. Like Cubano wrote,a leader or government of a country doesnt make it the country itself, the people make the country, research HC speeches and you'll see that he states time after time that his beef was with W and his foreign policy (mostly our illegal invasion of Iraq),that he like the USA as a country, haven't you noticed that he hasnt been slamming Obama or the US lately? I took no offense when he criticized Bush since I didn't like him and it seems a majority of Americans didn't like W either. If Maggs wants to support HC,that's something that he should debate with fellow VENEZUELANS!How many of you guys like it when foreigners criticize us in our internal affairs?I'll take a wild guess and say not many.
  20. Thats why I am no longer a Catholic...
  21. QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) I voted with my feet because I did not have a life back home. I could not stand the government telling me what to do, what to eat, what to say, where to work, etc. I do not blame the USA policies nor anybody but myself for my own problems. I do not demand anything from the USA like many others do all the time. If the USA had sent me back, that was the USA sole right. The problems in Cuba are our own making. Let me remind you that before 1959, not many Cubans left the island for the USA. On the contrary, there were many Americans going down there. Magglio should help the Venezuelan government. We can see more Venezuelans in the USA. As a matter of fact, the exodus have began. How many Venezuelans moved out before Chavez? I hope the USA expel Magglio when he decides to stay or come in the future. Wow,Cubano,I thought you were for freedom of speech,if you believe Maggs should be expelled for his political beliefs then you are no better than Chavez and his "repressive" regime.
  22. First of all, people should learn the difference between socialism and communism,it is NOT the same thing, many of our allies in Europe have socialist programs and so do we,what do you think Medi-Care and Social Security is? Second,if Maggs wants to support HC,that's his damn right...I'm not pro or anti HC since I'm not Venezuelan, that's for them to decide who should be their leader, the reactionary Right backed by the elite have tried to topple his goverment but the people still support him,he's won every referendum they've thrown at him and he's won em fair and square according to neutral groups like America's Watch.Maggs is in his right as a Venezuelan to either support or oppose Chavez and if you don't like it,tough, this is a free country.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) point of this thread was? To rattle us,I was in full panic mode when I saw that thread and thinking, what the hell are we gonna do about 3B?
  24. wow, what a drubbing ,at least it was to Cuba but against Austrailia the other day was truly embarrassing.
