  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 09:20 AM) I always loved the Big Hurt. One of my favorite baseball memories is going to Denver in 2005 when the Sox played there and seeing the Big Hurt hit a PH homer to dead centerfield. The fans at Coord Field went crazy for the Sox and the Hurt. He might be through now for sure, but I hope to see him back somewhere. The Sox connection is probably long over, but one can always dream. I'd love to see the Big Hurt as batting coach but I doubt that'll happen
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) Edwin is on the Detroit Tigers now. My bad :headbangI missed that but that only enhances my chances at a spot on BR!!
  3. QUOTE (rangercal @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) No it's not. I side with the GM of a MLB team, instead of the message-board poster. Make that a World Series winning GM over a 20 something year old message board poster...
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) Way to put that stupid ass fan in his place. I mean my god, we win a World Series for the first time in 10 zillion years partly because of Joe f***ing Crede and some moron gets up and cracks some stupid pun about getting rid of Crede and his being a "pain in the back." Good job KW. How soon some of us fans forget. Man,I'm with you 200%,those guys from the 2005 team will always have my respect, its not like we're the Yankees and have a ton of rings and could be fickle about it...let's win a dozen more titles before we become obnoxious "what have you done for us lately" fans.(Yankee fans)
  5. As long as we're talking nutty trade rumors,I just heard through the grapevine (internets) that the Sox and Rays are close to a package deal that involves us sending Contreras,Fields and a prospect and in return getting Longoria,Upton and Jackson...OK,I'm made it up but I want to see if I can get a job at Bleacher Report.
  6. love your signature image with CQ in the Mexican flag...

  7. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) I better stop watching the Hawks because I am not sure who the PBP man was before Pat Foley and I mean last year not his first go through or the PA address announcer before Gene Honda....crap and I was enjoying them so much. Oh well I better start my fan knowledge enhancement project by Wikipediaing Orval Tessia (sp?) The National Hockey League still exsists?Wow,I did not know that...it looks like my post rubbed some people here the wrong way and I guess I'm a bit older than the average fan here but you gotta know a bit about your favorite team, without knowing every single detail out there which is impossible. At least ya gotta know a few players from different eras, the sox did exsist before 2005.And I'm not claiming to be an expert at sox history since I started following them since the late 70s and many here weren't born yet,I realize that but I've read a bit on the history of the White Sox because I just find it interesting and not to try to claim that I'm more of a fan but there a bandwagon fans who were sox fans in 05 and would be Cub fans if they were to make it to the WS,those are the "fans" I was slamming.
  8. Unfortunatly there were many a bandwagon type fan in attendance that couldn't name you one member of the South Side Hitmen or don't know who Jimmy Piersall is and didn't know that Harry Carey first started his take me out to the ballpark with the White Sox.
  9. He is a HOFer in my book, then again I'm biased,he was my baseball idol growing up.
  10. I like Thome but if we do get Abreau,I'd like to see him DH or platoon with Dye at RF,we could move Thome but I don't think you'd get much in return for an aging slugger who strikes out a lot and has had injury issues lately... Dye,I suspect would be the odd man out.
  11. The Carribean Series is more like soccer's Champions League, where it's not really nation vs nation,it's baseball team representing that country's baseball league since you can have foriegn born players in each team from Puerto Rico,Mexico,Venezuela or Dominican Republic...where's Cuba anyway? They should be there.
  12. What the hell, the rebroadcast of game 2 has no commentator audio, just as well,McCarver is annoying as f***.
  13. The Bash on Owens threads are getting old as well as boring as hell.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) Carlos Lee is a bum and a loser. It was a good move just to get him out of the clubhouse. I totally agree,it's no coincidence that that trade was key to the White Sox winning the WS,without that trade we'd have a team of sluggers with no chance of winning a title...Lee was just your typical bad defense slugger, they are a dime a dozen.
  15. no matter how Joe Crede's sox career ended,he'll remain one of my fave sox players, just like Maggs and Big Hurt.
  16. Anyone else notice Juan Uribe was about 15-20 lbs lighter in 2005?He packed on some lbs since then.
  17. Damn,I hate those Viagra ads,the thought of old farts getting it on makes my wanna puke.
  18. got my beer, ordered a large pizza, weather is nice here in TJ and gonna enjoy GM 1 of the 2005 WS like it was the first time...life is good being a sox fan:)
  19. Wherever Crede ends up,the Twins is the last team I want to see him go to.I'd hate to have him have a monster comeback and be on the other side of his desire to whup our ass.
  20. Mothers don't let your sons become Cubs fans...
  21. Thank you MLB Network!!!Gonna record with my DVD recorder GM 5 of ALCS and all the World Series games, glad to see they'll rebroadcast GMs 3 and 4 because I was planning on missing the SB if it came down to a White Sox WS vs a SuperBowl that didn't include Da Bears!I've been enjoying the butt kicking the Cards gave the Tigers in the 06 WS these days:)
  22. Ok,I don't know if anyone else posted this thought on Colon so at the risk of repeating something obvious, here goes...at the very least Colon should eat up a lot of innings this year, pun very much intended.
  23. It's amazing how people here forget how frustrating it was to watch Javy, how soon everyone forgets how she folds in big games...I d rather take my chances on a 400 lb injury prone former Cy Younger or Contreras coming back or even one of our young arms then on Vazquez.
