My condolences to the Adenhart family and the other victim's families, what a totally avoidable tragedy...I swear, the human race needs to cull some of it's dumber members.

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 12:22 AM) I will not. I am an excellent drunk driver, and when you see stories like this there is always a main cause (I.E. blowing through a red light) that is totally unnecessary. Sorry, but I see no harm in driving 2 miles to my house from the bar at 2:30 in the morning when there is rarely a car in sight aside from people leaving the bar and cops, a lot of them, and I have never been pulled over. Why? Because I drive the speed limit, I stay in my lane, I don't run red lights or roll through stop signs. There has only been one time in my life when I was too f***ed up and couldn't drive home and that was after getting hammered at the bar and then taking some colossal rips off the bong and even THEN I was smart enough to tell myself, while extremely f***ed up, that I was too gone to drive and I didn't. Other than that, I am a very coherent drunk.. You are a jack ass and you can't even see it,it only has to happen once and even if the accident is not your fault, just for the fact that you were drunk, you'll be the one held responsible.Stop driving drunk,if only to cover your own ass if you don't care about anyone else.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) I will say this as nicely as possible. Dwayne Wise is a 31 year old minor leaguer who hasa a career .218 MLB batting average and a .254 minor league average. He does nothing will. Brian Anderson was a first round draft pick that had success in the minor leagues who I believe has been screwed over by the White Sox in that he was made to be the scapegoat in 2006 and has not gotten consistent ab's since. If you think Wise as more power than Anderson than we will have to agreee to disagree. There is no single phase of the game that Dwayne Wise is better than Brian Anderson at. Have you seen Wise this year. To compare Anderson's one at-bat.........I'm done this is a waste of time. I agree that BA should be starting in CF over Wise because we have no other options,BA hasn't shown us anything offensively,he played all 2006 and he sucked big time...he should be out there based on his D...

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) A liner to right isn't going to fall for a base hit the way the Royals played him. It's home run or nothing. I didn't say I dislike Thome, I just said as a fan the shift is frustrating to watch. As far as the Royals, their bullpen arguably is as good or better than ours. I'm not the only person suggesting they might contend this year. Laugh all you want. They beat us 2 of 3 in our first meeting this year. We have some work to do if we are going to own them record-wise as we have the last many years. If we don't own the Royals,we're going to have to play a lot better against some other teams to have the same record as last year. The Royals are still the Royals...if it werent for corpse ball,we would've swept them.
-
Instead of booing Crede,we should maybe boo our offense, let's see if it shames them into picking it up...if you told me that the Royals would score 2 runs each game in our opening series,I would've told you we would sweep them or at least take 2 of 3 games, take away Thome's blast away and we would've been swept,meh...

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) That sounds reasonable to me. The standing ovation will forever be in his mind and in reports of the game, in the papers, sportscenter, etc. After that ... even Crede knows no Sox fan is going to root for a Twins player. I'd say standing ovation one at bat or polite applause, after that, nothing. He made the decision to play for the Twins instead of the Giants. Sox fans boo Maggs and he was one of our best players this side of Big Hurt and Ventura...I appreciate what Crede did, especially in the 2005 postseason but he's a Twin now.I agree, one standing O in his first at bat, after that, boos and jeers...

Special thread dedicated to shots at Wise

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 08:42 PM) This is right. At least I hope that's why people are booing. But I'm afraid that Williams and Ozzie are doing to Dewayne what they did to Mackowiak by putting him in center -- putting him in a position to fail miserably and draw the ire of our fans. Wise has many drawbacks (cue the OBP numbers), but the guy was a useful player off the bench last year -- had some good pinch hits (and usually got good at-bats even if he didn't get on), stole some bases, and could fill in throughout the outfield (not brilliantly, but he was okay). But he's exposed in the way he's being played, and it's really a function of lousy decisions in the general manager's office. Whatever happens, I hope that he can at least be serviceable in the role he played last year. But I wonder what will happen to his confidence, thanks to being sacrificed at the altar of "no deals were available." agrees totally,Wise seems like a nice guy but a starting CF he is not, don't boo Wise, boo Ozzie and KW -

Wise isn't the only player we should be booing, the SP is getting it done and if it werent for Thome's clutch shot yesterday,we would be looking at 0-2 start, blech -
