  1. Did Olney explicitly mention that the Sox are interested in David Price?
  2. That would be my guess if they actually made a trade. I'm not really sure what they're doing though.
  3. I agree. I think they're going to trade for a starting pitcher but it'll be someone with a large salary. They just aren't going to trade those guys before they play a full season in the org. That would be shortsighted.
  4. I doubt they trade any of those 3 at this stage
  5. Yep. I'm with you on that. The payroll should be in the $130 million range.
  6. This isn't correct. Grandal, Abreu, Herrera, McCann, Anderson and Jimenez adds up to $51 million. Colome, Mazara, Rodon, Leury and Marshall is roughly $25 million more. Then add in the the minimum salary guys.
  7. He was promoted and asked to move. Like I've said numerous times. There are many reasons why he switched to the Pro side. They wouldn't have let him run the last two drafts if they were unhappy with his work. There's also a development component here. Steele Walker was a fine selection where he was taken.
  8. Mac, is the pitching addition coming via trade or free agency?
  9. I like 5 WAR catchers personally. He's the best catcher in the AL.
  10. Wait how could you hate Grandal?
  11. I'm of the opinion that Steele Walker's value was the highest it would ever be. Theoretically, he could be used in a trade later. The Problem is, it's very likely that Walker would struggle in the AA Southern League as a 24 year old and his value would soften significantly.
  12. You said Walker was better right now. That's patently absurd. Steele Walker couldn't even hit lefties in the High A and he's only 14 months younger than Mazara who can hit RHP in the major leagues. It's fair to not like the deal. Saying crazy things that aren't true doesn't make any sense though.
  13. This is a really bad thought.
  14. LOL. I wrote the article last year accusing people of carrying water for this front office. You got the wrong guy, man.
  15. This is how I summed it up on twitter. Nomar Mazara can't hit lefties in the majors and Steele Walker can't hit lefties in the Carolina League.
  16. Someone asked what he provides that Avi doesn't. I answered the question.
  17. An .850 OPS vs RHP
  18. Heyman should be listened to in regards to any Scott Boras client. He's Boras' go to guy in the media.
  19. Baseball America has the White Sox as the 5th ranked system in the sport. Their write-up on Luis Robert is "glowing". https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/2020-chicago-white-sox-top-mlb-prospects/ 1. Luis Robert OF 2. Andrew Vaughn 1B 3. Michael Kopech RHP 4. Nick Madrigal 2B 5. Matthew Thompson RHP 6. Jonathan Stiever RHP 7. Andrew Dalquist RHP 8. Steele Walker OF 9. Dane Dunning RHP 10. Blake Rutherford OF
  20. Yeah he answered about how I was expecting. Paddy is well respected but they just don't spend. Really good stuff on Bailey though.
  21. This is absolutely not true. Dave gets quite a bit of solid info regularly. He's a fan though and knows Rick Hahn. He straddles that line and doesn't want to legitimately hurt the team by reporting info at times.
  22. It's not public knowledge. The original reporter and Ozuna are friends. Many locally have denied this story at this point and publicly/privately but I heard from someone reputable that family members of Ozuna confirmed the story this morning. I have no idea what's actually true but it's a very strange story.
  23. Here's what I'll say on Ozuna. None of the Sox writers can confirm and many have denied that it's true already. Marcell Ozuna's family in the DR thinks it's true in addition to reporters there however.
  24. Because they offered like $85 million. The agent needed that White Sox interest out there hot and heavy if Wheeler truly wanted to stay in the East. I'm sure if Philly offered 5/100, he might have come to Chicago. But once Philly knew where they needed to be, it was over.
