  1. Cheesy Beef is just throwing a dart here, so I don’t think it’s related to whatever Hector is floating.
  2. Stealing straight from SoxTalk!
  3. Cruz is a better hitter against RHP than any left-handed bat you’re going to find in free agency.
  4. Not as bad as I was expecting as I figured Kopech would be involved. I just hate the idea of moving Vaughn and not having a bat in the system of his caliber to replace Cruz or Abreu eventually.
  5. What constitutes “more” in your opinion?
  6. And where does he play after the 2021 season once Vaughn is ready?
  7. Yup...adding a higher end starter would probably be the more prudent move financially, but I won’t be complaining if they want to stack an already strong with another elite hitter.
  8. Oh fuck that works for me! Anderson, SS Moncada, 3B# Abreu, 1B Cruz, DH Jimenez, LF Grandal, C# Robert, CF Eaton, RF* Madrigal, 2B
  9. On a one year deal there is zero downside.
  10. Ripping Reinsdorf for being cheap already paying dividends!
  11. Bears have no shot at Watson. Miami or the Jets could blow us out of the water.
  12. Ban bet? @ron883 - How these things work again?
  13. These extensions are all about risk mitigation. If a player wants to maximize his earnings, then an early extension is probably not the way to go. But that isn’t the agent’s call and who is anyone to tell Giolito or Moncada they are stupid for wanting to hedge their bets and lock up a fuckton of money.
  14. No way he’s getting a $40M AAV, come on dude
  15. We have been active and it could definitely be worse, but under no circumstance does Jerry deserve accolades for this offseason. In this market we could have done serious damage with a willingness to spend, but right now a roughly league average payroll and a minimal increase vs. 2020 looks like what we’ll get despite claiming we are going for it. We have no choice but to accept that, but we can at least call out clowns like Sullivan who are trying to sell us fans a false narrative.
  16. My favorite quote in that article is this: Like that is some serious water carrying or whatever you kids call it these days!
  17. My money is still on Richards, although that “by Sunday” prediction is not looking so hot at the moment!
  18. I think most of us are excited about Kopech, but he hasn’t pitched in forever and will be on a strict innings limit. He should the start the year in AAA as our 6th starter and that’s totally fine.
  19. Depends on what the cost is and how much Jerry is willing to spend. I do like Musgrove a lot better than most of the free agent starters, but I’m also hesitant to give up say Jared Kelley for him. It’s really a tough call IMO.
  20. I felt it was time to celebrate our great owner Jerry Reinsdorf and applaud him for going all out amidst a financially crippling pandemic. Times are tough, even for billionaires, but that’s not stopping Jerry from playing at the top of free agency and doing what needs to be done to deliver us a World Series caliber product. Come October and we’re holding that beloved trophy, don’t forgot moments like when Jerry won that bidding war for Adam Eaton despite the financial duress it likely caused him. We truly are lucky to have an owner who puts winning above all else atop our organization. Thank you Jerry from the bottom of all our hearts!! Looks like great minds think alike as Paul Sullivan wrote a fantastic piece about this very subject. I recommend everyone read this and thank Paul for this excellent, though-provoking article. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/white-sox/ct-chicago-white-sox-liam-hendriks-jerry-reinsdorf-20210116-rhgupqhn5rhivlpu7xh5jyqnxq-story.html?outputType=amp&__twitter_impression=true
  21. We should aim higher than a #5 type starter.
  22. In a perfect world, Kopech, Lopez, & Stiever enter the 2021 season as our #6, #7, & #8 starters. I think those guys would work very well in those roles, but failing to add another starter moves them all up a spot and forces one of them (likely Lopez) into our opening day rotation. That’s not acceptable for a team looking to win the World Series next year.
