  1. So the angels called up Trout today. Interesting to note that the Sox were deciding between Trout and Mitchell in 2009. Hard to fault them too much since Mitchell had a freak injury that may have cost him his shot at the bigs. However, had they chose Trout, where do you think he would be right now in our system?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) Is it the most boring? Honestly, only consistently "can't miss" thing for me watching a Sox game this year has been Santos pitching. yes it is very boring i always like watching mark pitch and enjoy a good humber as well
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) The 2011 team isn't the worst White Sox club I've seen (or even close), but they appear to give a s*** less than any White Sox club I've seen. might not be the worst but probably one of the least likeable
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) f*** it, change the lineup to this: Pierre Ramirez AJP Konerko Dunn Quentin Rios Beckham Morel It's not like bottom of the order does anything these days the way lineup is constructed, so put AJ in front of Konerko I have been trying to come up with different lineups but honestly there are so many damn holes they all look terrible
  5. at least he avoided the sombrero today
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) We could call up Trout and Harper and I still wouldn't feel good about playing Minny. I think I would prefer Trout at this point
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Would the offense really be hurt that much by injecting Danks2 and Viciedo in our lineup instead of Rios and JP/Dunn? Viciedo probably not. Danks is likely to be Brian Anderson2 without all the crazy sex stories.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) Ozzie trying to get Edwin a win? we would have to bat for 57 innings to do that
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) Morel is good field no hit. That is blatantly obvious. Sad. which would be fine i guess if he hit 9th and was the worst hitter on the team
  10. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) Oh lord. If the Sox trade Dayan, the meltdowns would be astronomical. discussion and actual trading thankfully are two very different things
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) We might as well just give them Viciedo so J4L can officially cross the line to Royals' fandom. I better keep quiet on this one or the site may blow up...
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) So basically anybody who goes out there shuts us down. Bye bye Greg Walker. Bye bye Ozzie. Why are they waiting to fire people and change things?? because its the players who should be fired
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) I respect those guys, but Morel is the next to last worst 3rd baseman, with regards to hitting, in all of baseball. where do rios beckham and dunn stand?
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) I think I'm going to have to watch THE ROOMMATE with Minka Kelly for the 2nd time rather than see if we'll get no hit. It's one of the few movies I've seen below 10% at rottentomatoes and I dare not look at the IMDB rating. Well, I can always just put her video on mute (who needs to hear her speak, really?) and be entertained by Farmer and DJ. DJ really wanted to go down there and head back to CF and rob that homer Rios inexplicably let hit the top of an 8 foot wall when he's one of the tallest outfielders in baseball. Leighton Meister is not bad to look at either
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) I think the 8 hour commute from KC will take the starch out of his Viciedo-esque, laundry line drive swing. so greg doesnt take pitches either?
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) I'd actually guess that greg775 would have a better chance of getting a hit today than Dunn against Chen. Sorry for hyperbole, not sure what else you can come up with when this guy's no-hitting you in front of a crowd of 15,000 aggravated fans who can't even conjure up the energy to get back to booing Dunn wholeheartedly again. hey greg if you can hit we need a guy for our hardball league on sundays
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) I wouldn't be surprised at all, especially if they think they can plug someone into CF (such as Danks or Lilli) danks is now viewed as a 4th outfielder
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) I've been wondering if we'll see a Swisher situation at the end of the year where he's dumped for basicallly nothing, or in this situation, we'll have to take on someone else's bad contract. i would be happy if he were dumped for nothing, how bout you?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) Hey doc, do you know if the Sox organization feels like they regret bringing in Rios? dont know but i can probe around and try to find out... i sure regret it
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) for some reason I just liked the guy, felt like he was going to turn it around. He's the only 5-tool player on our team, or at least, I thought he was. oh hes a tool all right
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) boom. Captain Reliable. what is the record for sombreros in a season?
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) People need to pay more attention to what you say one of those people being KW!!
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) Doesn't seem anyone who's around the team is convinced it's a good idea to have AJ and Flowers together on the same roster. AJ hasn't shown any inclination to give up the position or "mentor" Tyler on the nuances of the game. Just have to wait and see. If they're struggling at the end of this month, they might think about trading him instead of being on the hook for that contract in 2012. absolutely not true
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) It was a failure on the part of KW and the White Sox to project him at 3B from the time of his signing. This has little or nothing to do with his current ability to be a DH or a corner outfielder. Cabrera was a complete disaster defensively at 3B too, but the Marlins needed his bat too much to send him back down, even at age 19 or 20. Whereas the White Sox don't need his offense, apparently, as they're just fine without him. Or so some would have you believe. He is a complete disaster at 1b too!
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:35 AM) EDIT: We're wasting another $3.5 million on Linebrink, and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that they don't bring back Vizquel at $1.75 million. They'll need a back-up catcher, so I won't give you that $1.2 million for Castro. In the end, that's $17 million. But still a payroll in the $105-110 million range (and this doesn't include raises for the likes of Humber, Beckham, Santos, Lillibridge and Sale, for example). I'll give you a final $1.6 million for Tony Pena. $18.6 million. But I'll bet you $9-12 million goes to bring back Mark Buehrle and that's all we spend in the offseason. KW will have to trade Quentin/Danks to get our new impact players for 2012, along with bringing in DeAza and Viciedo to replace Pierre and CQ. Flowers will be the backup catcher for league minimum. You have to hope Mark doesn't get more on the market.
