Another source that Sox are in Colon/Vazqez race
OfficerKarkovice replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
that is what i am going for with the reds or sfo. sfo has some players i would love jerome williams, Jesse Foppert, Ryan Hannaman, and orR.D. Spiehs HEY you're leaving out my boy Boof Bonser! San Fran is loaded with pitching prospects...on that subject I can't believe that KW got Felix Diaz for Lofton. Chalk up a win for Kenny on that one. -

I'm not so sure...there were talks of Dunn moving when the Reds were in the race for Colon...perhaps that is why they didn't get him...but still I know you would have to throw in prospects and all but Lee and Colon would be some serious talent we would be giving up. They have a lot of talent in Cincy to make up for the loss of Dunn (plus they get Lee) and I'm not too sure they are pleased with Dempster at all. -

Why do you taunt me with such ideas!!! Ok here goes...IF somehow we could miraculously pull that off here is what I do...turn around and trade B. Colon and Carlos Lee to the Reds for Adam Dunn and Ryan Dempster (fill in a few prospects where need be). Then we go into the season with: Mark B. Vazquez Garland Dempster Wright/Rauch 2B - Jiminez SS - Valentin DH - Thomas RF - Maggs 1B - Konerko LF - Dunn 3B - Crede CF - Rowand/Borchard C - Olivo We would be unbeatable. -

I'll gladly take Colon...but that being said...if I had a choice I'd take Vazquez. Here is what ESPN's profile had to say about him. -
Do we get parties with strippers and beer?
-
Well he's certainly no Nate Newton but 5 lbs. is quite a bit indeed. I'd have to agree with bjmarte tho and think that if this is his first offense and he had no intention of distribution then he may just get off with fines and probation.

You could always try and go about it like a buddy of mine did...he quit smoking by switching to chewing tobacco and then eventually quit chewing by switching to sunflower seeds. It took a little while but it worked for him.

Today's News Could Mean A Few Things...
OfficerKarkovice replied to aboz56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hey...mind you that those Bulls are only 2.5 games out of the final playoff spot in the East...granted it is really early yet but if they gradually improve, you never know. -
As far as the deal that is reported in the article on the main page here...are there actual other sources which confirm this or is this still the same one that somebody said they heard from cbssportsline.com message board who heard it on the radio? If it does happen I would hate to lose Garland, and Lee also, but I think it would be worth it.

Sn Report: Lee's Future is Dim as Sox Eye Pitcher
OfficerKarkovice replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
*cough cough* Kerry Wood *cough cough* I would take Kerry Wood...and I would also love to have Dempster. I think if KW could either swing a deal for Dempster or sign Paul Byrd (or even Omar Daal if it comes to him) we would we be fine. -
So I haven't been able to get into the Soxtalk message boards for several days now...I tried to click on the bookmark and I used the link from Soxnet but the page wouldn't work. I was just wondering if I was the only one having those problems...this is the second time it's happened too. Anyway, glad I'm back in now.

I think Jaime Navarro is available :eek
-
Allright...I now submit my avatar for grading/reaction...even though I have had it for some time now.
-
I doubt you were working construction with him this past summer............ because he was busy winning twelve games for our beloved sox..... it's JG Jon Garland. Holy s*** he looks a lot different now...maybe its the glasses but he looks to be bigger there than I thought he was.
-
Hey Murcielago...by the way who is that in your avatar? He looks just like a kid I worked construction with this summer. Any way yeah Dempster would be a GREAT pickup...I wouldn't mind seeing Ponson here either although I would much rather prefer Dempster if that were a possibility.
-
ryan dempster's name comes up alot in trade talks...but why would the marlins trade one of their better pitchers for willie harris??...they already have a good 2nd baseman...they could get more then harris and a prospect for dempster...especially since harris' stock dropped after his call up last year Well it wouldn't be to the Marlins...they traded him to the Reds last season. Cincy has Todd Walker at 2B who had a pretty good year last year but I don't think is probably the answer for them at 2B...plus Barry Larkin is gettting real old. If I could get Dempster from them I would do it in a minute, he could be a stud pitcher...he is only 25 years old.
-
Pending his physical the deal apparently done. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/1202/1470010.html

As far as backup players go: Todd Hollandsworth - Could be a great pickup as a backup OF Greg Colbrun - I guess we don't really need him but he can hit. Batted .291 in limited time last year with an OPS of 1.004 Ron Gant - He is going to sign another minor league contract with somebody like he did last year with the A's. For a player who was once 30-30, it would be worth a shot.
-
Hmmmm...Iowa might have something to say about that.
-
OK regardless of whether the hit was legal, cheap, whatever...that wasn't the main problem. Sapp is a f***ing egomaniac who is more concerned with making a huge hit and showboating and making sure the cameras see him. THE GUY COULDN'T FEEL HIS LEGS and even now he's still in the hospital with a season, and perhaps carreer ending injury. You might say that well when he was dancing he didn't know he was hurt...well how about after the game after the guy got carried out on the stretcher and Sapp was still pumped about making the hit and bragging about it...he's a f***ing egomaniac asshole and there is no denying it.
-
Well he didnt quite make it over to the sideline...he danced his little jig right there on the field...and then followed with these comments: Sapp did not deny that he hunted Clifton out on the play. "Yeah, I was a heat-seeking missile," Sapp said. "Boom. Boom. Boom. And I hit him." And regarding Sherman: Sapp responded afterward by suggesting Sherman cursed at him and then termed the Packers coach "a lying, s***-eating hound....If I was 25 years old and didn't have a kid and a conscience, I would have given him an ass-kicking right there at the 30-yard line." Ok wait so you need to be younger and have to personal ties to go and beat up a 55 year old guy? You're a f***ing ego-maniac asshole Sapp.
-
You're talking about Sapp right??? He's a big f***ing pussy and possibly the most overrated player in the league (next to maybe Jason Sehorn). If Sapp didn't play next to Simeon Rice he would be a bum. He's terrible against the run and takes advantage of the strength of the rest of his line to get some sacks. Yes the hit on the Packer was legal but it was 25 yards away from the play and then on top of that he was dancing and s*** while the guy was laying there without feeling in his legs and fingers. Get over yourself jackass you're the only one who wants to hear you talk.
