FWIW, I'd rather take Pods over Slappy right now. Isn't he cheaper at the moment too?

Buehrle still in? I thought they would have pulled him. Ozzie wants him to get that win.

I can totally tell why we dislike having Home Runs. In other news, I love Gordon Beckham.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Teahen's OBP - .353. Gotta like that since he has a .083 average. He's walking at least. Once he starts hitting, he'll be nice to have. And as I say that, he grounds out.

Southpaw gets DOWN!
Awesome. Just awesome.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) Your post is completely off-topic and doesn't discuss the poll question at all. I joked about it in like the third post of thread, but I needed to reiterate that point.

I love how Vinny realized his mistake in putting in Noah too long, and now he's in trouble for trying to protect him. Give me a f***ing break.

Santos being groomed as closer of the future?
I'm in love with Sergio. I was actually trying to find a Sergio shirt. They understandably don't sell them.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) I disagree that Walker is a poor hitting coach. His philosophy is good (use all fields and be patient) the problem is that most players dont listen to hitting coaches. Beckham already uses the field, what Walker can help him with his how pitchers are going to attack him, etc. Everyone who has worked with Walker has nothing but good to great things to say. The only people who seem to dislike him are people on this site who for no reason believe Walker teaches "lift and pull." This. Walker coached a powerful offense in 2006 (My god, if I could combine that offense with this pitching staff, we're looking at some insane win total). Rios & Konerko listen to Walker, they hit it hard. Dye became an offensive power when he came to Chicago. This is why a good Alexei is needed and an Adrian Gonzalez is wanted. If Pierre could just get on base, then you could have Alexei get him over if Alexei could draw a walk or bunt, but he can't for god knows why. Then you have Gonzalez, who you must pitch to because Quentin's behind him, and then Konerko, followed by Rios or Beckham. You have to pitch to them, but right now, teams don't have to worry about Gordon because he's stuck advancing Pierre, and Konerko has Mark Kotsay behind him.

GAME THREAD: 4/10 Twinkies vs Sox - 12:05pm cdt CSN+, Baker vs Garcia
Was at the game today, Freddy pitched fantastic, Linebrink held the Twins down, and no one hit the ball hard other than Konerko and Rios (he almost won the game with a walkoff, but it didn't have enough carry). Gordon looks exceptional at 2B at times. The problem is, once this team gives up a lead, even a one run lead, it's insurmountable. At least I got a a Barons (old design) hat, and got to shut up a Twins fan.

I feel bad for the pitching staff
Went to todays game, Freddy and Linebrink, the weak parts of the rotation and bullpen respectively, looked solid. All after the game I was mad about how Ozzie is wasting the best pitching staff in possibly the league. Even an average offense would propel this team.

The positive of 2010
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 06:38 AM) There has been NO clutch hitting. That is why we are 1-3 and not 4-0. The pitching has been there, they are keeping us in every game- we are just not executing when we need to. Crede is a FA.

This league is loaded
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb Good article on the plethora of young elite arms up and down the league. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...&id=5067570 and another I like how neither one even mentioned Danks or Floyd. I understand Gavin is 27, but Danks is 24 and could easily be mentioned with the wave of new pitchers.

Standing Ovation for Thome?
Sox fans and the organization generally be to classy about these things. Frank, Crede, Thome, etc. all have gotten standing O's and the club has acknowledged them. I remember last year, the second Twins game, some and elderly man wearing a Twins hat started saying "Come on, Joe. They never appreciate you like we do." A couple Sox fans in the area (I was one of them) got mad with this guy, and told him to shut up. The guy instead switched to cheering for Mauer, which is way more appropriate.

I went with option number 4, it seems the most logical.

The positive of 2010
QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:32 AM) In my life I have to focus on the brighter side of things or else I go insane. That being said, here are the positive things I've seen so far. Alex Rios looks to be dialed in and his swing is looking boobies. Andurew Jones is giving some quality at bats thus far - working pitches. Tony Pena looks solid as hell. Matt Thornton is Matt Thornton. We've had a lead in every game. Mark B, Peavy, Floyd, and Danks all look boobies. Paulie has been looking pro. We could have won every game and be 4 - 0 right now. Hopefully we come together and build on the good things we've seen and turn this into a great 2010 season. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) Don't forget Santos. He has looked studly. I'm in love with Santos. Last time I liked a rookie this much was Gordon. Before him, I really didn't care, but I liked Poreda. Also, speaking of Gordon, when he's not bunting he's been working counts and has looked good on th base paths, and looks like he's adjusting to 2B OK (not great, but not horrid).

MLB 10: The Show
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:27 AM) Yeah, he exists in Japan. Are you telling me they made him a free agent on the roster they made too? No, they didn't make him, but they essentially cloned a pitching prospect that the Yankees traded for Javy.

MLB 10: The Show
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) You made a Yu Darvish? Haha, you cheater! I hope you made him like 34 years old, because thats how old he will be when (if) he comes over. What? He exists. Plus, it seemed cheap letting the Yanks just have a A-potential 'spect they traded away.
-
MLB 10: The Show
I kept Crede at 3rd. Teahen & Holmberg for Granderson. Pierre for Uribe. Castro & Ommogrosso for Gonzalez & Poreda (HOW?) Signed Yu Darvish (made him from A. Vazquez, the Braves prospect from Javy trade, there are doubles) and traded back for Holmberg.

GAME THREAD: 4/8, CLE v CHW, 7:10pm CSN+
1) Sit Alexei. He sucks in April. 2) Start Vizquel in the 2 hole. He's a bunter. 3) Put Beckham in 5 hole. Let him swing. 4) ??? 5) Profit?
