Dodgers @ White Sox, 5/20, 7:10, CSN

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) I have a feeling Thornton will be back to his old self by July. It's obvious now though that making him closer was not good for his head. Santo, Crain and Thornton got his act together....we won't be sweating these 1 run leads. -

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) And Thornton is our setup man...and its the 8th, when setup men pitch. If Ozzie had put in Crain, as you asked, at the start of the inning, and Crain blew the hold, you'd be b****ing that Ozzie didnt go with our regular setup man...so in the end, this was a lose lose situation for Ozzie, because you are openly and obviously biased. Yawn..ya know some people won't give up criticizing Ozzie even of they win the game. Don't waste your time. -
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Our player of the game is the opposing pitcher, batting tee. He just kept our hitters off balance. I see he has an 11 ERA. So someone is getting to him, but I don't know how. Tip your cap. POTW!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Boring games and cold weather mean lots of empty green seats for JR. I can't believe the weather. It's half way past May and it's in the 40's.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 15, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Who knows what Ozzie will do, but I wish he would start Viciedo in LF and bench Pierre. Let Omar start a lot more alternating between 2B and 3B as the leadoff man. When Omar is not starting, let either Ramirez or Rios lead off. I can't see Vic getting little playing time or it would be best for him to be back in the minors. Who knows there may be another player that might be nursing an injury that could use some time off. Hopefully it's Pierre.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Jesus. I don't hate JP that much. I don't want to replace bad with badder. They could try him at 3rd again and we would have more appreciation for Teahan.

I just want the drafting and scouting improved. I guess this is on Kenny.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 15, 2011 -> 05:04 PM) With this pitching staff all the hitting and defense need to do is be fundamentally sound and they would have a good thing going. I believe this organization cares very little when it comes to defense.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) Yay, bad defense costs us another two runs. What happened?

Heyman "Count on" Danks filling for free agency

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) It's a common perception nowadays that wins mean nothing. I don't know how this perception took hold, but it's ridiculous. To be 0-6 is embarrassing. It was pointed out that Humber had even less run support but he still won 2 games. It's a shame that performance from the starters has gone to waste. Imagine how much better some of the teams in baseball could have benefited if they had the Sox staff. -

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) Black Jack had the knack of pitching to the game conditions. When I think of the word "competitor" the first name that comes to mind is McDowell. If the Sox had 5 on the board, he'd give up 3 or 4. But I recall him pitching against the Twins when he had absolutely nothing, but the Sox won 1-0. The Twins had double digit men left on base ... I'm not sure but I think it was close to 15 or 16. Black Jack was pitcher in every sense of the word and not just a thrower. Don't tell me wins are a meaningless stat because I ain't buying it. I agree. Jack was an ace. Those are the guys who just make a difference by bringing confidence to a team. There might be 4 aces now in all of baseball. I believe Steve Carlton was a 20 game winner on a last place team. There's really no logic to it. Danks may be one of those guys who will have an impressive ERA but win and losses will be around .500 no matter what team he is on. I feel that way about Zack Grienke. -

Having the lead would have been nice. They've used Crain and Santos. I don't like the chances of the pen winning in extra innings. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) Hawk is becoming Santo. Throw it away? Really. That's what he goes with. This may be the season where Hawk loses his sense of homerism. -

QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:26 PM) Pierre is so bad at the game of baseball overall, you just know that once his current contract is over, he'll be out of baseball and selling insurance or something. Baseball still has plenty of stupid owners. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) Until LF and 3B gets figured out, I'm comfortable in saying we're not a good team. You can survive with a crappy hitting catcher, but having pathetic offensive players at LF and 3B in the AL is just a waste of outs. Could this be the 3rd season in a row where they had to replace the opening day 3rd baseman? Jaun Uribe anyone? -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) think the angels advanced scouting told the angels teahen sucks at third and take advantage of him Nope, it doesn't take a scout to know that. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) I'll say one thing. The record of the Twins' AA and AAA teams these last seasons is a serious concern. Development is one thing, but they've compiled the worst record in the minors in 2010 and 2011 and it's now reflected at the major league level as well. When a major league team is having difficulty succeeding in terms of w/l record, they group all their prospects together and hope that they'll developing a "winning" habit that won't be so negatively counteracted when they get to the big leagues with a team like the Royals or Pirates. Then there's Kenny who likes to acquire players from the Royals.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) 1,459 ks in 1,469.2 IP with a 1.19 WHIP, 3.32 ERA and a .231 batting average doesn't spell ace to you? Jesus Christ. If he can ever be healthy again for a given period, Jake will show that he indeed is an ace. That's a big if, of course. However, his resume is acetastic in my book. Nope it doesn't. I think you have to throw in victories when defining an ace. I believe an ace will still win 15 on a bad team.

If the Sox got sold - and moved out of state

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 10, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) Not sure, it would really depend on the circumstances. And I would hope Chicago would get a new team to replace them. It would probably be better if they played in the suburbs still going as a "Chicago" team. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 10, 2011 -> 10:59 AM) It's a lot harder to find guys who have the resume that Jake Peavy does. Outside of winning the CY Young, his resume does not spell "ace" in my book.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 10, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Like in 2008, when Peavy went 10-11 despite a 2.85 ERA. Or when he went 11-14 in 2006. That is irrelevant when regarding Sox fans. I've come across comments on this and another forum that none of this major losing streak would happen if Peavy were here. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 10, 2011 -> 07:26 PM) Not really. Check StubHub. Cardinals are in town, temp will be 80 degrees tommorrow night and there are tickets on sale for a whopping $5. What's up with that?
