  1. If you look at it from an economic view the trade was bad. You could still have Hudson while Jackson could be gone next season. On the other side of the fence, Diamond backs fans are never at ease with Hudson on the mound because he gets rocked early. I must admit it was funny watching Hudson crush that ball.
  2. QUOTE (Andrew @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 12:35 AM) Well, I see Ozzie is still not fired and we still have Walker teaching people how not to hit when there's RISP, or how to bunt (which is gay as s*** anyway and should be easy), or pretty much anything that would be effective in an offensive capacity (opposite field hits, sac flies, etc.) Hardest working "coach" in baseball, though (per Ozzie), so more of the same. And by same, I mean losing with a "1" on the scoreboard. We must lead ALL of MLB with that s***. Go Sox - It's the players, not the coaches, etc.... yeah, right, whatever. Same ole s*** - I'll check in again in 2 more months to point out the same problems. Replace "Ozzie" with "Gardenhire" and this is what many Twins fans have wrote in the 2nd week of October with the addition of Mauer being a waste of money.
  3. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) thats not how it works in the big leagues, the only realistic option we can hope for is Pierre either traded, or we package Teahen in a deal with Edwin or another of our starting pitchers, we bench Pierre for the rest of the year, and Viciedo is our new LF No way in hell this team flat out releases Pierre Unfortunately not all GMs are naive unless it's garbage for garbage. The difference here is that's very expensive garbage.
  4. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) How hard is it to get rid of Pierre? You tell him to pack up his s*** and have security escort him out. I have this theory that in professional sports that have guaranteed contracts, salary has a lot to do with playing time. Their economic rule is more important that winning. That's probably why you will never see Rios benched for any considerable time. You see it in the NFL with 1st round busts always existing and playing to the length of their contract that are not QBs.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:49 AM) Just like how if the Sox lose, I hope Pierre goes 0-5, I'm of the opinion that if the Sox aren't going to make the playoffs, I'd rather they win 65 games and get a top 3 pick and get Ozzie out of here. Would you really trust this organization with a top 3 pick?
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 09:03 AM) Excellent post caulfield. Werd!
  7. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:25 AM) Excellent post! I still don't get how you can blame KW for Rios, Dunn and Beckham. He's not out there swinging the bat. And there was so much enthusiam on this board when Dunn was signed. People wanted to kiss KW's pinky ring. Now some of those same people want him fired. Other find it easy to blame Kenny. Everyone knows the book on Rios, so he gambled. As for Beckham, he might have benefited with more time in the minors. He may have been brought up too soon because of the failed Josh Field experiment. You have to wonder if having Sale in the pen is more harmful to his career than spending some time in the minors.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:24 AM) But I guess since we sucked in the 70s I should feel better about the terrible drafting, youth development, personnel decisions, and in-game managing that we have seen under the Kenny/Ozzie era. Veeck new he could never win in the free agent game so he decided to put his money in development. This is where changes need to be made but I wouldn't be surprised this organization will be stuck with waisting money on hit and miss free agents because of their hit and miss drafting and development.
  9. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) Arizona needs a good leadoff hitter, Kuhn could get on base in front of Chris Young. Their leadoff hitter has 86 Ks this season.
  10. Well hopefully someone other than the Twins will win this division. It will spare their fans the annual misery in the 2nd week of October.
  11. I'm going to be at that game. A friend of my brother had some nice tickets he couldn't use. I think we are going to be 7 rows from the field.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Peavy would get hurt in the fight, but boy, he really put in a heck of an effort and after the game, he said he gave it his best. Meanwhile, Juan went to hit someone with a bat but squared up to bunt instead. I'd rely on the pitchers. We know most of the players are not dangerous with a bat.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) I don't normally condone it, but I think they need to start a brawl with the Twins and kick the ever loving s*** out of them to prove that they are actually superior and stronger. As of right now, it's all a mentality, and that starts with the manager. I'll place $10 on the Twin kicking their asses physically as well. I hate posts like this. Please stop.
  14. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) Nothing has changed (except we are worse this year against Detroit) I don't know how to explain it. This also happened with a different manager and players. They are the Twin's b****. Always will be.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) Because the sox ought to have that reputation now. If Cooper can't fix a pitcher, no one can. Most of Coop's fixes are short term. Yet he is treated like a legend.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) The Sox are just mentally weak. There is no other explanation. Bingo! It will stay that way when you also aquire players from losing organizations. The mental midgets have returned.
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) Definitely guilty of Lillibridge, and I still don't see him as a starter (he's on a hotstreak and you've got to see it out though). He might be the next Kotsay. When you start to have faith in him...........he returns to his norm or below it.
  18. No one should be surprised since baseball practices the same failed economics by governments. You had two commissioners who let the players' union get too powerful. Unions have failed to realize the money has to come from somewhere. Baseball owners don't appear to be the brightest bunch of people. They are content with the current worst commissioner in the entire sports galaxy even after the federal government gave them a good spanking. So now you are stuck with a sport where fans can no longer trust the validity of any accomplishments. There isn't a Lebron James or Peyton Manning in baseball without the question of them being tainted. Who knows if that stink will ever be forgotten. I don't think the average person considers a MLB game a wise choice in their entertainment dollars. There's so much entertainment to compete with that didn't exist over 30 years ago. The prices are getting on par with the NBA and NFL. Most people would prefer to spend money on the latter or on concert tickets and video games. If they want to start improving their economic model they need to start with telling the players' union to piss off.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) Blame our offense who couldn't do jacks*** with RISP. Don't blame the guy who gave you 6 innings of 2 run ball. How many runs do they have to score to compensate for a potential bullpen loss and JP's defense? I'm going to go with 8.
  20. The pen has lost too many game this year. The stink has gotten to Santos.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 11:44 PM) I already said I want Dayan to play left. He can't butcher it much worse than Juan, but I suspect he will be just a tad worse than Juan out there. Has anyone seen Dayan play the outfield yet? Maybe he still needs work. I get the impression the organization has a fear of bringing him up too soon.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) I missed the game. I assume JP had another brain fart? I'd like to know as well. I'm going to assume this happened in the 10th inning.
  23. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...rumblings110607 As the Blue Jays' dump-his-contract-on-the-waiver-wire ploy proved a couple of years ago, Rios at his worst can be an exasperating fellow to have around. And Rios at his worst is pretty much what the White Sox have gotten this year. In fact, he's been the least productive middle-of-the-order hitter in the entire American League so far, if you measure production via Lee Sinins' Runs Created Above Average rankings. The funny thing is, Rios is making more contact than in any season of his career -- but his average on balls in play (.205) is down 101 points from last year. Which tells you he's likely to come out of this one of these months, once he stops blaming the local Gatorade coolers. "A lot of this is mechanical," said one scout. "He starts his hands real low, and he never gets in position to hit. By the time he does, the ball gets too deep on him and he can't do anything with it. But it's tough to watch. His body language is terrible. I hate watching him. He's a kid with so much ability, but he doesn't get the most out of it." Take it for what it's worth. I do hate his batting stance, tho.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) Yeah it is, Morel was fast tracked to the bigs because of his defense. They understand that half of the game is catching the ball, and finding and developing someone who can do it really well would be a great thing. It's obviously not. Two years in a row they had to replace the opening day 3rd basemen. If it wasn't for Morel, they would still be working on Viciedo playing 3rd. Being weak in defense and fundamentals are a trademark of the Kenny Williams regime.
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 08:42 AM) I will say, regardless of my actual feelings for the pick, that he better develop defensively. It never a priority in this organization.
