  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Too bad Manny isn't available. He is but after his suspension, he should be available by Dec.
  2. I was listening to B&B on the SCORE. They believe Kenny and Ozzie have given up because with the Quentin injury, they are not bringing up Viciedo to replace him.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) wish we could go after Kubel. I'm surprised Cleveland hasn't went after him.
  4. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) I remember Leifer as a power hitting, backup outfielder. But, I don't remember Leifer being able to run the bases, or play the field, like Lillibridge can. Lilly's already stolen 10 bases (as a part time player)and can score on a double to LEFT field (like he did on Saturday's Rios double), scoring the winning run. Lilly is extremely flexible, in the field. He's played all 3 outfield positions (well I might add) and has the ability to play all 4 infield positions (who would've thought he could be a decent defensive 1st baseman?). At the very least......Lillibridge is an EXTREMELY VALUABLE backup.....for what...7 positions? Then again, maybe he can catch too...... Lillibridge can move around the bases but he doesn't know how run on the bases.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) People seem to assume that Detroit will keep winning. They really aren't some juggernaut. Obviously, if DET contiues to play .700 baseball like the have the past week or two, the Sox have no chance. But I just don't see that happening. I like their chance of beating the Twins and the Royals over the Sox chances of doing the same thing. Cleveland is going to play the spoiler for one of the teams.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:34 AM) I love how we 'have' to keep Rios and Dunn because of the money they are making. But by keeping them we are 'likely' assured 2/9s of our lineup will be horrible, effectively killing our chances of being a good team. Ah I love the economics of baseball. There is a chance they will perform better next season. Rios has been better of late since De Aza came up.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 08:39 AM) Keep in mind though...unless we had zero bad contracts on this team, we wouldn't be in position to give Gonzalez $23 million a year. I still question the validity of there ever being a Gonzalez for Beckham deal.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) Oh god another one of these today? Cheaper, younger, but a worse team. I love it. Probably disappointed there was no white flag trade on July 31 or too much dosage of fantasy sports. Thornton has become more valuable to the "all in" team because you don't know what you are going to get out of Peavy and Humber.
  9. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) There is also the Konerko situation to consider. I recently read that it will be a while before we see him at 1B. Plus wouldn't they have to send someone down until September? IF we were to set emotion aside, having Thome doesn't really make much sense. He can only DH and he's been a part time one at that.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) One veteran scout described their starting line-up as "7 utility guys and Justin Upton." That would probably hold true in the AL.
  11. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 01:50 AM) Hes not a great pitcher.. dude has one great year surrounded by decent/solid years and hes like some huge frontline starter.. hes not Sounds like Jake Peavy.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 12:08 AM) The White Sox can't afford a $125 million payroll again. Costs will be cut in the offseason as younger players are brought in. That could be a myth the ownership always wants us to believe.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 06:39 AM) For right now, looks like the Cubs are going after really big names like Cashman/Girardi (combo), Esptein and Friedman... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,7572084.story http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,5919833.column Arguing for experienced "baseball men" like Gillick, Kasten, Alderson and Schuerholz http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,4889687.column Hahn and Steve Stone (consultant) combo for the Cubs? The Sox could use a new GM too.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) I'd like to see Lillibridge get some time at short the remainder of the season to see if he a viable alternative to Ramirez. Ramirez should be shopped this winter. I think he's the next Kotsay in waiting. Once you put a lot of faith in him by giving more chances you realize it's a mistake.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) I can guarantee they don't think Walker will ruin Viciedo. No you can't. That's like guaranteeing he'll make Beckham better.
  16. Where's the money going to come for this "new guy"? Kenny's not doing a good job of patching up holes in the Titanic. The safer bet is try a new hitting coach.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) Alex! I think I am your only fan! But I am cheering loudly! He is playing better since De Aza came up.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) 1.) Don't blame Cleveland. We suck as well. The Sox tired them out for the Detroit series.
  19. IF MB is gone nest season and KW is still here, it will be hard to be "all in" next season other than checking out the box score. They would have to win the division or go far in the post season for me to forgive them.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) Adma Dunn got two singles last night. That's not bad except we haven't seen an extra base hit or RBI in awhile. But maybe he is starting to make contact with the ball now adn not the air. I refuse to dislike Adam Dunn like some fans. He could be a real asshole like some athletes are when having poor years but he's willing to talk with the media and seems humble about it.
  21. So does Dunn have a 2 game hitting streak?
  22. My whacked out theory is Reinsdorf and Kenny want Walker gone more than Ozzie. They only way the get rid of Walker is to get rid of Ozzie. This may be the reason why we haven't seen Viciedo up. They might be afraid Viciedo could be the next flash in a pan rookie under the Walker era.
  23. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) After tonight, I'm convinced Chairman Reinsdorf will make the right decisions this offseason. The Sox have so many built in advantages over most teams in MLB that it won't take long to get better. What are these "built in advantages"?
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Uhera-Adams-Feliz could potentially be murder come October. Very underrated rotation and an offense as explosive as any in the game. We need to steal their scouts and instructors.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Just a pathetic offensive effort tonight. Yeah, they only needed 8 runs to win.
