  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) If the Sox and Twins series go as planned we could be out of it more than the Dodgers by Tuesday. Would we still want Manny if we lose all 3 to NY and the Twins win all 3 vs. Seattle? I don't know what "plan" book you are reading from, but that ain't my plan for our Sox this weekend.
  2. The other side benefit to all of this is that Jones, Kotsay, and Teahen are now pushed into the roles they are much better suited for, which is of course that of being bench players. And on the bench, be it back-up outfielders (Jones and Teahen) or back-up infielders (Kotsay and Teahen), and playing sporadically, they all of a sudden don't look so bad. No great shakes, of course, but not bad for a bench.
  3. Pierre Rios Manny Konerko Quentin AJP Ramirez Vizquel Beckham
  4. Where does Manny land in the line-up? Third? Fourth?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) The one thing to remember...Manny's had less than 200 PA's this season for a reason. Even at DH...they may baby him somewhat to try to keep him healthy. Especially with an expanded roster. I seriously doubt that playing him 30 straight games at DH is in the cards. You might be right, but I will say that with each and every game from here on out being of critical importance, if Manny is healthy, he will be in the line-up. Maybe one or two days off between now and the end, but that'll be about it. We need him!!!
  6. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) Still think our DH will be Kotsay/ManRam. No way Kotsay doesn't see at least 8 ABs a week. This is Manny Ramirez we are talking about, he of the .934 OPS against righthanded pitchers this year and earning $4 million dollars next month Ramirez'. He will NOT be platooning with Mark Kotsay of all people.
  7. Rotating Designated Hitter March 2010 - August 2010 R.I.P.
  8. QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) Did we not have a friggin' lefty ready in the pen? Sheesh. We did, and we had a pitcher with a 120 pitch count who has already had to battle all night long on the mound. Not a good decision.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) Alexei with maybe the biggest AB of the season here. Agreed.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) Just got back from hospital, how close was Viciedo's fly out in the first to being a home run? Well, it got a few stretches and then a couple of dadgummits as it was caught in the middle of the warning track in straight away centerfield.
  11. The speed we want on the bases is there
  12. Cuddyer really helping us out by swinging 3-0 against a pitcher who is clearly not right at the moment.
  13. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Gotta love facing a team after they score 50 runs, almost certainly guarantees an offensive drought the day after I luuuuvvvv it when you analyze!
  14. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) A lot of our recent starts (minus Freddy) actually haven't been all that bad. Oh, you are absolutely right. I just meant a dominating start that gave us a chance to get a much-needed win.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) Danks cruising. And this kind of start coming just in the nick of time, after the last five games.
  16. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) He won 10 games because he was better than the opposing 5th starter 10 times. What ace has Garcia beaten this year. Yeah, I thought so. If he's matched against a higher quality pitcher he's likely to lose because the Sox are probably not going to score many runs off a higher quality pitcher. He's played out that's all it is to it. And if that's surprising to you, sorry. Wake up. Lol - wake up, indeed! Take your own medicine, buddy. 5th starters aren't hired to beat "aces". Aces are meant and paid to beat aces. 5th starters are meant to eat up innings over the course of a 162 game season and, hopefully, try and win in the double digit column in the process. Freddy has done that going into tonight's game, winning as I mentioned ten games through just two thirds of the season. I'll do a little math for you and let you in on the secret that he's on pace for a 15 game win season, which would be absolutely superb for a 5th starter. So as far as Freddy's performance as a 5th starter goes, he's been as good as anyone could have hoped for, tonight's unfortunate outcome notwithstanding.
  17. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) The Freddy Garcia Experience is OVA! It's a miracle Reinsdorf and company got away this long with this year's version of hoping to catch lighting in a bottle. They need to grow up and start being major players in free agency. I'm sick and tired of weakening one position to shore up another. We should have a decent starter and at least one more bat BEFORE the season started. What the devil are you talking about? Garcia is our #5 starter, and he's already won ten games through two thirds of the season. What more do you expect from a #5 starter?
  18. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) I'd argue your knowledge of the word 'more' as well, at this point I have the time - argue away.....Champ.
  19. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Says somebody who clearly has no clue what wisdom is (or isn't) A bit more than you, based on the evidence surrendered.
  20. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) dont worry about anyone stealing your material, champ. I would certainly hope no one steals any of your pearls of wisdom around here.
  21. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Twins own us, indisputable fact. Game #163 of 2008 called and said "Once again, you've said something not-all-that-bright!".
