  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) Hawk is a good mood tonight if he could bring this effort more often I'd like him again. He's been enjoyable, and in a good "rhythm" with Stone.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) He's such a f***ing hack I feel the way I do waiting out the clock on this guy similar to the way I did this time of year of Dunn's last year.
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 07:05 PM) Because of the fact we are not there yet with the 3b prospects being ready I would keep Todd for two years more. I think he and Davidson can alternate between 3b and DH and spell Abreu on occasion. Give Stoddard stability contractwise might help him relax and hit consistently I'm more concerned about the stability of our viewing pleasure, which watching another two years of this kind of production in Stoddard's declining years would not contribute to.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) I would do it Lol - no you wouldn't.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 11:16 PM) 22. AZ 23,477 23. Minn 23,078 24. Pitt 23,012 25. Cincy 22,451 26. Cleveland 22,030 27. CHW 21,019 28. Miami 20,456 29. Oakland 17,573 30. TB 14,408 With the Buehrle retirement game next Sat and Mon-Thurs home series against the Yankees, they will be doing just fine for 33 games Lol - no they won't be doing "just fine". Quite the contrary! As long as this large market team's arrendance figures continue to be nestled in with those of the likes of Oakland, Tampa Bay, Miami, and Cleveland, there will be nothing "fine" about it.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) It hasn't been said yet by the organization, but I really would bet money that their willing to pick up a large chunk of money in a deal went down a lot with the signing of Luis Robert. That is a $50 million check that Jerry and the partners have to write now. Are they going to be willing to write another $10 million check to Washington? Eh, I can't see it. The cost is only sunk if the assumption is that they couldn't take less in a trade to get someone to take the contract. "Jerry and the partners" ought to really check in with their financial planners before they make any foolish decisions, despite how those decisions might benefit the Sox' fan base (as if THAT'S ever been a factor in any decision-making the past four decades). Wouldn't want to threaten Reinsdorf's status as "billionaire owner" by asking him to sign players who might just lift this franchise out of its near decade-long postseason-appearing drought.
  7. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) I agree with this. I can't see any team saying to the Sox they want Gonzalez. Guy was great last year, but trash this year. He's 33 with big warning signs as his K/9 way down from his career norm, HR/9 way up. Guy just doesn't have it and is a DFA candidate come late July if he keeps it up. He is the perfect ingredient to a formula comprising a rebuilding team waiting for a wave of elite prospects to get ready for the bigs down in the minors, and an organization in need for a high draft pick next season.
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Then you remember how much he is making a season and you don't feel so bad for him... Good. Point.
  9. The whole Sox Math and prize shelf seems so beneath Steve Stone. He's been around too long to have to play into such an amateurish bit like this.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Still find it fascinating he's a little over 200 days older than Kris Bryant I'm with you on that, which helps fan the winds of optimism on him.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) No rush at all. I also think he would love to stay if they decide during next year to extend him If the Sox get a sense this is for real, I'm sure they'll try and extend him for his prime years, which interestingly enough, would align nicely with the rebuild timeline.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 08:03 PM) I'm sold on him To the naked eye, it looks like he's turned the corner.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) MaViP
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) Thanks for leaving him in Buck. That looked like a concourse shot off the bat Only missed it by a row or two. Wow - an absolute bomb!
  15. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 07:26 PM) Micker Adolfo. Hoping he puts it all together, I think the dude can be a stud. I have visions of Micker and Luis Robert gracing the Sox outfield for many years during the upcoming '20s. Could be something very special.
  16. Hanson looking rather slick on that double play.
  17. Avi just continues to pour it on! 2-1 Sox
  18. Jake Burger speaking with Benetti and Stone right now, and you gotta like his effervescent personality. Fun and upbeat!
  19. Hanson with a nifty tag at second for the first out and his first play in a Sox uni.
  20. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 09:15 PM) Absolutely. Sox have exactly what they need. They're still stinging from the fan base over the Eaton trade, so I think they'll ride this out all the way to the deadline before they make another deal with the Sox. They have some cushion in the standings to do so now, but by July 31, when attention to the postseason starts to kick in, they'll be better able to justify another trade with the Sox that costs them more top prospects. We just need to hope Robertson continues to pitch well the next six, seven weeks.
  21. A lot of enticing power entering the organization from both the right hand and left hand sides of the plate with these two picks.
  22. Maybe the "once a top 100 prospect/late bloomer" magic that has enveloped Avi this year will rub off on Hansen.
  23. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Jason just needs to announce like he does college football and basketball games. By that I mean less cornball jokes and more focus on the game. I understand the pace of baseball, over 162 games, leads to a lot of small talk, but at least try and keep the cornball humor down to a reasonable level. An example to follow is Darrin Jackson, who certainly has his oddball moments but in recent years has cut down. I've become a pretty big fan of Jackson and Farmer, they compliment each other well. THIS! If and when Jason pulls back on the schtick during the slow parts of the game, and instead replaces it with more knowledgeable discourse about baseball with Stone (which they do, sometimes, just not enough), then the broadcasts will become far more enjoyable, in my opinion. I just cringe when the cornball stuff starts up. I'll take a Yaz story over that crap any day of the week, but that's just me.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) I have to agree with you on this topic as well. Geez! What the heck is going on around here! I must be losing my touch. The next thing you know, SS2K5 will also be "agreeing with me on this topic", and then the world will really be turned upside down!!
  25. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 31, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) The ground beneath is feeling colder. I think hell just froze over. One could argue I've made a breakthrough with the 'ol bean and that he's finally seeing the light!
