It's not over yet... I'm quietly hoping that the Cubs lose tomorrow.... I don't want to celebrate until the Cubs are dead....

For clarification. I have since changed my views. when the cubs lost, I felt a little happy that they lost game 1. when they won game 2, I felt angry. So now my feelings are clear. I was confused. And I tried to bring myself to cheer the cubs... but I just couldn't do it with any real enthusiasm.

I don't know if you guys saw my other topic.... but I'm cheering for the fish now. for some reason, I couldn't get happy when the cubs beat the fish in game 2. I felt a twinge of a smile when the cubs lost game 1.... I felt so fake at the time. And now I understand why. If the Cubs win now, and we win in a few years... our story will seem like a rerun, and no one will ever give us the credit we deserve. It'll almost be like the Cubs found a way to screw us even when we win. I jsut can't have that.

I know I've come out as saying, I'm cheering for the Cubs this series because of Ron Santo. But I couldn't help but feel a twinge of a smile when the Marlins won yesterday. And now I feel resentful after the Cubs won today. It has become clear, my feelings on the Cubs. I want them to lose. My strategy has come to this, whatever team I cheer for, seems to lose. ex. White Sox. This was confirmed yesterday when I cheered for the cubs, and they lost. Today, when I realized it made me smile when the Cubs lost, I cheered against the Cubs, and they won. So now... I want the Cubs to lose the series. But I'm afraid to cheer for it because the opposite just may happen. In my heart of hearts, I fear they're going to win and advance. Hell, if they meet the Red Sox, they may even win it all. So my question is, in your heart of hearts, all biased feelings aside, do you think the fish can pull it out? (It's a shame really. I feel we could have played the Yankees, defeated them, defeated the Red Sox, and knock these bastards off ourselves.)

I'm not surprised that you guys feel this way. And you guys put your feelings into words very well. I guess I'm just a bleeding heart. So what has changed from the Braves series to the Marlins series? I don't know. I like the Braves I guess. That's prolly why I cheered against the Cubs so hard. but I don't like a franchise that blows up whatever championship team they have to assemble.

Does he play into your feelings about the Cubs? I, in this situation, normally would cheer AGAINST the cubs, but you have to give it up to Ronny Santo, he shows an enthusiasm for the Cubs that is unmatched. You could hear the enthusiasm and the pain that he feels in his radio calls. Does anyone remember his call for Brant Brown in '98, "OH NO!!! He Dropped the BALL!!!" That was some good laughs for us sox fans at the time. I thank him for that. The man has been through a lot, and deserves to see the cubs win it all. This is a man who belongs in the Hall of Fame, in my humble opinion. So, weighing my normal reasons to cheer against the Cubs.... Sammy Sosa and Cubs fans who know nothing about their own team.... against reasons to cheer for the Cubs, everyone on the team BUT Sosa, namely Prior and Wood, loyal and knowledgable Cubs fans (gotta respect those), and Ronny Santo.... I've decided to cheer for the Cubs. :sosasucks :begood

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! Im a die hard sox fan and id rather see the celebration than a meaningless AL central game. HAHAHHAHAH.... you're so right. I think sometimes Sox fans have it too far up their ass to be sensical about things. I mean, I DISLIKE the Cubs too, but c'mon.. that team and their fans deserve the airtime over a bunch of chokebags that are lookin at finishing out of first. The sox game is meaningless.

I like it. Although my only qualm is at 1st base, let Frank stay at first and let Konerko be DH. And I also agree with the earlier poster, Graffanino doesn't hit that well when he plays everyday. I think Graffanino should split time evenly with Crede, except have Crede sit for the next week and a half so he understands how stupid he is at the plate sometimes. We can have Daubach be a pinch hitter, Rowand and Willis rotate in the outfield... it'll be great. But please please please. stick with one lineup dammit.

The night of the all-star game AT&T wireless was handing out free t-shirts that say "I still call it Comiskey." According to AT&T wireless, 82% of Chicagoans still refer to The Cell as Comiskey Park. Of course, that's according to a competitor of U.S. Cellular. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has that shirt and if they're willing to post a picture of it. I want to see a picture of it primarily because I'm interested in buying it on ebay or something... or hopefully someone here is willing to sell me theirs. That'd be cool guys.... if you could...
