SoxTalk League #3
QUOTE(Funkman7 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) I will schedule a draft time as soon as we get at least 8-12 teams in place. I'm using yahoo. 3 teams are in, 7 left! sorry guys only four people total signed up so I deleted the league. If more people show interest, up to 8, I'll remake the league as it was.

Hurt not ruling out October
Man, Dick and Chisoxfn are total wet blankets. For the love of God, Frank Thomas is the last Chicago star athlete that is still around from when I was growing up, is there anything wrong with believing and hoping that the "chance" that Frank speaks of comes to be? I want Frank to retire a White Sox and I hope he gets his 500 with us. Why do you guys HAVE to rain on our parade? You made your point and most of us interested in it have read it, considered it, and moved on. I think what really got to me is that one of you said you are emphasizing the point "just so there isnt' a 50 page thread on it." Is it so wrong to get excited? Just let us hope.

Bulls Beat Memphis
Honestly, I don't think his rebounding is terrible. Eddy has done the job of blocking out his man so at least his teammates can pick up the rebound. Besides, the other teammates on the team are pretty good rebounders at their position, Kirk, Ben, Deng, Chandler, Davis, etc. As long as Curry boxes out his man, I'm happy. There are plenty of centers who don't average double digit rebounds in the league.

Who ya Gonna Call? Quinn,Krenzel,or Hutchinson?
sheesh. Even if we sign Couch, wtf is gonna happen, we are just going to have to wait a few MORE weeks while couch learns the system. ugh. The Bears made a yoooge mistake by thinking Quinn was a decent backup QB.

Poker!!!
The way I see it, even if you lose 50 dollars to 100 dollars in one night playing poker, that's still not bad. You could make that analogous to spending 50 to 100 going to a ballgame or on a date or something. So for hours of entertainment, you only have to "pay" whatever money you lose. Remember, that's not even considering the chance that you may win money. So hey, if people want to gamble, then let them. It's just a hobby. Now if they're taking out mortgages or loans and then gambling with that money, obviously they've gone too far. Most of the time however, I would venture a guess as to 98% of the time, a teenager gambling on Texas Hold'em does not turn into a life threatening addiction.

wow shuf, I didn't realize the KU fanbase had that kind of respect for the Illini fanbase.

I continue to hate Mike North's show more and more
I used to listen to the Score all the time. My dial would never ever change from that station. But I'm sorry, I just can't get myself to listen to that crap in the morning. Therefore, my station has changed. I hardly listen to sports talk radio at all now, and it's primarily because of Mike North. Mike North may not be a bigot, but he certainly strives in that direction with his political views.

Are you kidding me? I've been part of Orange Krush and that place is downright intimidating when it gets going. Orange Krush does NOT stop cheering... at all...

now how many "prospects" have we given up for
When Frank comes back, what are we looking at as far as our lineup? LF Lee CF Everett? Harris? Rowand? RF Mags 3B Crede SS Valentin 2B Uribe? Harris? 1B Konerko DH Thomas Everett isn't that great a fielder, dont' get me wrong, this trade doesn't bother me much, it's just that I wonder if we could have found a better trade in which the person we trade for would have been a better fit once Thomas came back.

As exciting as Takatsu's entrance is...
It's not supposed to be in green. I was assuming based on my previous posts in my thread the intent of my post would be clear and my position on this issue crystal. But I guess no one read my posts. Oh well.

Kid Gleason, your post from earlier was well written and very succint.(sp?) I don't know how you can spell it out any more clear than that. sigh. Maybe forty years from now things will change. Reading threads like this shows me how far asians and asian americans have to go.

Stereotypes negative and positive should not be perpetuated.

As exciting as Takatsu's entrance is...
Iron Chef is a Japanese show, not an American one.

As exciting as Takatsu's entrance is...
Dr. Wong is.. a doctor. Asians are doctors, engineers, math whizzes, martial artists, etc. I'm looking for a role that doesn't fit the stereotypical asian role.

It's been reported that Shingo APPROVED it, meaning the idea was not his to begin with. As other posters have noted before me, Shingo might have approved without being aware of the past and present representation of Asians in American culture. Remember the Asian landlord in Breakfast at Tiffany's?
