QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) Lol, you haven't paid attention to baseball in 15 years have you? Just wishful thinking...wanted to see how many smart-ass responses I would get...my only entertainment right now. -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 7, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Cant argue with that. Not now though with Dayan struggling....I also think Becks can work his way back into the 2 spot Anyway the sox send Escobar and Morel down in favor of a Mcpherson/Kuhn platoon?? I really wish Dan Johnson fit on this team somewhere...he would look good at the DH spot for the second game today with Dunn getting a start at 1st. -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) Youre right, hes a #4 hitter. PK should be in the 3. Beckhams showed some good strides lately, that double today looked like the old Beckham, if he can get back to that the Sox 1-4 can be pretty good...Hopefully the cubans are once again just having a slow start which seems to be a trend, if Dayan can become the 5 hitter, AJ the 6th then Lexi the 7th the sox could have a pretty good offense.....Now they need Danks to turn his struggles around, Phillip to get back to pre all star/perfect game Humber and Axelrod or whoever they throw out in the 5 spot to keep them in games and the sox will be fine....I think (as an optimist homer) that they can compete for 1 of the 2 wild card spots. Best line-up: vs. RHP: DeAza 8-Fukudome 7-AJ 2-Paulie 3-Dunn DH-Rios 9-Ramirez 6-Lilli 5-Beckham 4 vs. LHP DeAza 8-Ramirez 6-PK 3-Viciedo 7-Dunn DH-Rios 9-AJ 2-Lilli 5 2-Beckham 4 Not including obvious days off for AJ and a few of the other regulars... -

I'm the ONLY one that says this...but Koske Fukudome playing more would really help the line-up. He makes contact, and is constantly having quality at-bats. Just this week he has extended games in the 9th inning by drawing a walk. He's the perfect guy to come up when the Sox have a runner at 2nd and no one out. He will hit the ball to the right side. He will hit the sac-fly when there's a runner at 3rd and less than one one. I'm not saying play him over DeAza, Viciedo or any other young guy...but when DeAza or Tank need a breather he can step in. I'm actually calling for more of a platoon with Rios. I'm not saying halt the development of ANYONE. But Fukudome has a great eye, good bat control and would really make a difference in the line-up playing more than once a week (if that)... -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Score was not 8-6 today? Scored 5 last Thursday and lost, 4 on Friday lost.............pattern to me. lol...if you're expecting a team never to lose a game where they score 4 runs then you're crazy. There are 162 games. ALL teams lose numerous times when they score even 6+ runs. -

QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) Lilli has been a decent hitter against lefties in his career (hasn't had many ABs this year period) and if Lillbridge gets a hit there, Acta would have had to pull the lefty with how bad he'd been pitching. Bringing in a righty for Dunn could have made things real fun. But in true White Sox #2 hitter fashion, he went down without much a fight to a pitcher that had looked like s*** the whole inning. 1) Hagadone pitched fine? He entered with the game 8-6 with one on and nobody out...the game ended 8-6. He induced two flyballs, a grounder and a he walked a guy. 2) There was absolutely ZERO chance Hagadone wasn't facing Dunn. It just goes to show what happens when your two hole hitter is so bad. The other team has zero fear in facing them righty or lefty. Best case scenario is Lilli finds a way on-base (walk, RBI hit) and the score is 8-6 or 8-7 with Dunn coming up...and we all know that Dunn has almost no chance against LHP. Acta knows this. I think it was a very good move by Acta. Lilli has been equal opportunity suck this season vs. righties or lefties. -

QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) LOL terrible managing here for Acta to have Brent face the lefty I don't think so. Lilli's a .172 hitter and Dunn's the guy who can beat you...and you want him facing a LHP. Even if Lilli does something positive, odds are it isn't going to tie the game. What does he have? One double? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) Fair enough. I just had a feeling that the Sale situation, though, shows what a joke of an organization the veterans play for. I mean the guy is 3-1 with dominant stuff. You take him out of the rotation and the veterans aren't dumb. It's like a white flag trade of sorts. Sale ... outta rotation. Axelrod or other rag arms ... in? Yikes. The white flag would be just shutting Sale down (which might not be the dumbest thing)...I think the Sox stubbornness to stay relevant in the division is the only reason that Sale is still going to be apart of the team. Viciedo for Fukudome...let's do it. -

QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:09 PM) I'd say all those deflating blown games by the back end of bullpen hurt the team mindset much more than Sale leaving the rotation. Team can't be so fragile. The Marlins have had like 5 blown saves this season and have rebounded to play good baseball now. The bullpen blow-ups hurt more at the beginning of last season than this one IMO...I took those much worse. Of course I could just be a year older and more mature lol... -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) The kid did his job. I won't get too excited about his future yet, Stewart pitched a game or 2 like this last season, but now the Sox are fully loaded for game 2. Its an impressive debut. This...Kid did an awesome job today no doubt. Let's just leave it at that. Any kind of change of pace from Humber was bound to succeed today. It was just one of those days for Philip. -

Quintana should have given the Sox a legit opportunity to come back and win this game...Sox offense single-handedly has kept Asencio's ERA below 10 this season. -

QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) If we won a game by four, the game thread would be saying that we don't have the offense to blow anybody out. When we lose by four, it's a blowout. Only in Greg's world... -

Asencio now with 3.1 scoreless innings against the Sox this season...doesn't jive with his 5.93 season ERA... guarantee the Indians will try have him finish this thing. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Rios pops out on the infield almost as much as Joe Crede and while Beckham may be adding something to this lineup recently he still strikes out way to often. the last two at-bats yesterday were abysmal as was the at-bat last inning. It's funny how all of us were so excited that Rios was having a nice rebound season...he's now right at .270 with 1 lone homer and a massive 10 driven in. He'll be lucky to hit 10 homers and drive in 60 runs...his average will surely fall as well. He's still just a waste of talent/money. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) There was another home game in there for Garcia or Colon against the Twins that was like 20 something to 1 or 2. That was my last White Sox home game. Must have been 2009. Quintana has never pitched above A ball coming into this season, FWIW. It was Colon. I remember that game vividly...Colon vs. Blackburn. Jimmy Gobble factored in that game pretty hardcore as well. -

I don't know how the hell Humber managed a 1-2-3 first inning... Quintana with nice inning. Let's get a few more back.
