QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) Cowley If I had names I would report them. All I've been told is it's big. Also been told that the chance of Hudson starting tonight is almost zero Jackson-Hudson deal is not off, it's just being delayed while KW tries to shock the world. Hudson for Jackson might still happen either way. I told you Hudson wouldn't be starting tonight. This is getting wild folks.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:47 AM) I wish I could just sleep until tomorrow afternoon... The last two days ofthe deadline really is Christmas eve for me. Thank god we have a ballsy GM.

cst_sox Hold off on the Jackson trade folks, KW has something big cooking and if he gets it done Jackson trade is off. 2 minutes ago

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) Looks like this thing is happening: BNightengale #mlob #whitesox #diamondbacks Club officials from the Sox and D-backs are confirming they are close to a deal, sending Edwin Jackson to Sox 4 minutes ago via web I Like it, KW does this every year builds up a young pitcher and makes him hard to get and then trades him to another team and they have mediocre careers he has done it multiple times before. KW has said before he makes any trades he cecks with his coaches. He prob asked Coop what he thought And all it took was one look at Coop licking his chops. I think we owe KW and his scouts the benefit of the doubt. As well as the benefit to carry out the rest of his plan.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:10 AM) Their outfield now is, Ibanez/Dominic Brown (PHI top prospect)/Werth. They would be swapping MLBs HR leader who is more affordable and under team control for Werth who is a FA in the offseason. It's been made clear they need to free payroll with all the additions and new contract for Howard rollins and the money due to Halladay. Not to mention, the Phillies have practically emptied their farm systems the last few years and would probably love to restock some prospects. Another thing that would play into this is that with Utley out and both Ibanez and Werth's HR numbers being way down this year, adding Bautista to supplement the HRs would appeal to them IMO.

If they add Bautista like the si article mentions, Werth becomes expendable.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:23 AM) Planes don't move fast enough to get another starter to Chicago in time. true but if we heard about it at 1am, KW probably knew of the possibility long before then and had a pitcher fly out red eye last night in case the deal did get done.

QUOTE (Wedge @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) I get this impression this all comes down to how well Hudson pitches tonight.I IMO the deal would be more likely to happen before he pitches in case of injury.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) Or it could very well mean nothing at all. The trade deadline is right around the corner... you are gonna be hearing hundreds of different variations of deals, which all sorts of players mentioned, only to have a small amount actually happen. Generally one third of the deals done on the day of the deadline are never leaked even the tiniest bit. You'll know when it's a done deal. The difference is that this rumor came out of nowhere at 1 am when rosenthal broke it. And now since the am, cowley, heyman, and Buster have reported that it was close and all had the same players being exchanged. A lot of you seem like you won't like the move. So prepare yourself because I think by 10 am this is a done deal.
-
I think were looking at Jackson and the likes of Berkman or Hawpe. I'm okay with adding playoff proven vets.
-
Buster is really pushing Dunn to the Yanks or Rays. If that's true, those are scary line ups. He says Dunn would bat 2nd for NYY and 4th for TB. This is more or less both teams keeping Dunn away from the other.
-
True but it shows that this deal is very very realistic with national guys and our guys reporting the same.
-
SI_JonHeyman #chisox appear now to be closing in on a deal for edwin jackson. daniel hudson plus another prospect proly going to az. 26 minutes ago looks like the deal is close to being done.
-
Buster Onley was also on Sports Center a few min ago and said he sees the Yankees and Rays trying to get Dunn to keep him away from one another. KW may have gotten wind of this and said "I'll just go acquire the Nats top target" and avoid getting into a bidding war with NYY and TB who would be able to offer a better package then us if they wanted to.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:38 AM) Could be an interesting power play by Kenny. "Trade us Dunn at our price, or we will go and take Jackson from you" Maybe enough pressure is applied and the three way happens to make everyone happy. Can we absorb any of the salary of Jackson and then move him to Was? As like a sweetener in a sense? Def., either way this move if it gets done is a way for KW to say to hell with Rizzo and his crazy demands. And if webhave EJax KW has the upper hand and wouldn't and shouldn't have to eat salary in a jackson dunn deal. I could see a EJax+spect for Dunn+Livan Hernandez in a Wash Sox trade.
-
So let's say this is what happens: Option 1: Trade Hudson+another pictching prospect (like reported) for jackson and laroche. Option 2: Trade Hudson+Prospect for Jackson, then move lower level spects for a Berkman or Hawpe. Option 3: Trade Hudson+spect for Jackson, flip Dunn for EJax and add another starter (Lilly, Cook, etc) which option would you take, and this is all hypothetical with reports that are out there.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:23 AM) Rather have Jackson than Dunn to be honest. Dunn is a temp rental while Edwin if good would pay off after this half season. He could take Freddy's place next season in theory. Me too

Latest from Heyman: SI_JonHeyman aggressive #chisox have joined fray for edwin jackson.@ken_rosenthal has them in lead. #nats long seen as favorite 22 minutes ago SI_JonHeyman as some have pointed out, #chisox could also flip edwin jackson to nats for dunn, who chicago likes. 11 minutes ago Would peope be more comfortable with gettig Dunn for Hudson technically by flipping EJax? Or would it still be the end of th world for some of you?

An agreement to acquire Roy Oswalt notwithstanding, Philadelphia is among the clubs scouting Jose Bautista, and Toronto has been scouting Philly closely, too. Phillies superscout Dave Hollins was at the Rogers Centre on Wednesday night, the sixth consecutive game he has seen the Jays play. He was also in Detroit for the weekend series. ... Jim Beattie, now one of the Jays' top pro scouts, was with the Phillies in St. Louis last week and followed them home to watch them play the Colorado Rockies on the weekend. Beattie left and former Chicago Cubs GM Ed Lynch, another Jays scout, took his seat to watch the Phillies-Rockies matchup Monday. On SI.com truth or rumors page. I could see the sox turning around after EJax and acquiring either Werth (hopefuly) or Ibanez (hope not). This would also coincide with Mark Gonzalez reporting the phills had scouts at the last few games. I'd love me some werth.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:39 AM) Last year the trade deadline was on Friday. I had a meeting at 11:00 and came back to see the acquisition of Peavy. I got absolutely nothing done the rest of the day. I hope a move happens today because I won't have access to a computer tomorrow. From what I have seen/heard the EJax trade is basically "done" so you may not have to wait long. Also Cowley offers a solution for our need for a bat. Although I don't think it is a valid one. cst_sox Meanwhile, if the Sox want a power bat without making a trade, talked to J. Dye and he said he's ready - "my swing is like riding a bike." about 1 hour ago

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:27 AM) Stop over-valuing Hudson. In any other organization, he's an average pitching prospect. Jackson helps them win now and that is the goal. I see more Brendon McCarthy in Hudson then I see John Danks. I agree to a certain point, IMO I don't think it is overvaluing Hudson as much as it is we got drunk off the Kenny juice once again. Every year at the deadline we sox fans get attached to a young pitcher; Mccarthy, Ely, Poreda, and Clayton. Huddy may be a great pitcher mybe KW finally missed one and will lose this trade. Most likely not though, Hudson will probably vanish inti obscurity like mist sox top can't miss pitching prospects. We do a great job up talking prospects to get them to respect them more nationally.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:47 AM) Like Kalapse said, Baseballreference is your beyond a shadow of a doubt best baseball friend. Just go there. Whatever you want to know you can find it there. I know, unfortunitly I'm pretty lazy. I do apreciate posting it, although this ERAs aren't that great.

Thanks

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:41 AM) Then what's the point of reading trade speculation Lol I was more or less saying even with this move I don't think KW would be done. And based on the follow-up move, then I'd be able to judge the trade better.
