  1. Another aspect of acquring Jackson, he knows the AL Central well and has faced the AL East plenty. I'd be interested in seeing his era against MIN,DET,NYY,and BOS is since we play all of them a lot the next few months.
  2. I think we need to ride this rumor out before judging how good or bad it is for us. We don't know who is going there if they are at all (Hudson starts Tom.) and who knows what moves we make after this one. I for one won't judge this trade as rumored Hudson+ ? For Jackson until after 3PM on Saturday.
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:08 AM) Maybe Arizona pays half of Jacksons 2011 salary? With Huddy being involved AZ almost had to eat salary, they did with Haren. Prob not half, although it'd be nice. Maybe 2 mil this year and next. An Laroche is included.
  4. It would be nice if our beat writers had some inside info. I understand it is 2am but rosenthal has Been all over sox rumors. And I haven't heard a peep from our guys this trade season.
  5. I could see Torres as the center piece with a few AA or one of the trio. But Torres+Hudson would be a rip and don't see it happening. Unless we get Laroche too and even then, not so much?
  6. I think things are a little more open this trade season with the sox due to the fact MLB Network filming a reality show on the sox. I thought they said the show would also show trade deadlne negotioations. Rosenthal also happens to be a "Insider" for the network.
  7. I'm actually okay with Jackson for Huddy+prospect. Jackson is young and has good stuff, he is a typical coop can fix him pitcher. And I love this even more because KW is saying F U to Rizzo
  8. I think everything the sox have been doing is based on what happens with Dunn aNd now that those chances are slim. We have moved on and can start talking prospects and money with other teams. If what is being said is true about Dunn, I could see KW pulling off a few moves tomorrow, esp. After minny added Craaps.
  9. Man would that be amazing, a Berkman and Jackson from AZ trade would be great additions. And at the most it hopefuly would only cost us at the MOST maybe Hudson and one of the trio with the rest being fillers for both players.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) MLBtraderumors brings up a good point about the Sox possibly trying to get Jackson just to flip him to the Nats for Dunn. It was either Olney or Rosenthal who said today that nobody may like a certain player more than the Nationals love Jackson. "Their intent in adding Jackson would be to keep him, not flip him to the Nationals for Dunn." I would also like to flip him but it doesn't seem to be the case. He was really solid on the Rays and Tigers I think he suffers from having nothing to play for in AZ. This would also be a great way for Kenny to tell Rizzo to stick it. It's pretty clear KW wants Dunn and has for a while and WAS has wanted Jackson. I'm not saying it's the sole reason KW would acquire him but it'd still be sweet for KW I'm sure. And he's fit in great this year and next, 11' roto: Buerhle/Peavy/Danks/Floyd/Jackson. But I still would have to see a bat added to really be satisfied with a move like this, like everyone else it seems.
  11. Ken_Rosenthal Source: Berkman market fairly dormant. Teams on Fielder/Dunn checking in, but without much enthusiasm. #Astros #MLB 2 minutes ago Fine with me, that MAY make him even more affordable.
  12. Chicago Breaking Sports http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...-extra-bat.html "Meanwhile, any deal with Washington involving Sox catching prospect Tyler Flowers would appear to be ruled out. Washington acquired Minnesota minor league catcher Wilson Ramos and another minor league player in exchange for closer Matt Capps." Not new information, however that coupled with the reports Nats want Viciedo and Huddy, makes this deal look dead at this point. I love D2 but I don't think the Nats would feel the need to move Dunn for a package of Hudson+danks. And I be hard pressed to give up morel or viciedo like stated previously. "A major league source familiar with the Sox's talks involving Washington slugger Adam Dunn didn't sound overly encouraged but expected talks to intensify leading up to the deadline." This is our only hope on the Dunn front IMO. Wait out Rizzo till 2:55 PM Saturday, but I say f rizzo KW get Berkman w/o giving up Hudson and call it a deadline. I could see the Kenny finding a pitcher on the waiver wire if it turns out hudson isn't ready.
  13. I think berkman would be a good addition. He would rake at the Cell although the Juice bOX is similar to us cellular. I also was watching MLB trade deadline special and Dave Justice (Astros beat writer) said Berkman was "upset" the astros accommendated Oswalt and didn't look to be moving him [berkman] (as of 2pm). He also said the Astros were looking for 4 prospects (not all MLB or triple A ready). He may relish playing for a contender and be just as good as Dunn. Anybody know how he performed in the 05' playoffs/world series? It would be interesting to see what kind of playoff player he was/is. I think the stros have only made it that once with him.
  14. The Nats are believed to have requested either Gordon Beckham or both Daniel Hudson and Dayan Viciedo in exchange for Dunn, tweets Heyman. That price was too high for the Sox, who told Beckham he wouldn't be on the move this week. Per mlbtr No thankyou with that cost, and I have been a Dunn advocate.
  15. I don't see how the cell is that different from wrigley in terms of HR given up or any park in the NL Central for that matter. You adapt to your home park. I think Lilly will be fine.
  16. With the past three trades; Haren, Oswalt and Cantu the return is almost astonishing. Almost all are double A prospects who are anybody guess if the amount to anything. Rizzo get off your high horse
  17. Probably nothing but Dunn was removed in the top of the ninth. I don't watch the Nats much so they may always take him out bc of his defense but thought I'd mention it after he smoked his 24th in the bottom of the eighth.
  18. With buster reporting We lost interest in Dunn (as I literally watched him hit his 24th HR on MLB network), the more it looks like we may have to settle on a lesser bat like the before mentioned Branyan. By the way his line you asked for: G AB R H 2B 3B 52 171 24 45 9 0 HR RBI TB OBP SLG AVG 10 24 84 .328 .491 .263 BB SO SB CS 16 49 0 0 eww. Get your Dunn KW
  19. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) That's called a controlled leak. B-I-N-G-O
  20. Either this is BS and KW is playing possum with Rizzo, or Rizzo is indeed content with gettig nothing but draft picks for Dunn. Let him try to get teams to overpay, Kenny has a line he isn't willing to pay for a rentle. I just hope we still look to add something we need a bat.
  21. MLB network trade deadline special just reported Oswalt a done deal. I find it interesting outside of Happ the other two prospects were AA (valarie?) and low A (Gost) players, and HOU ate salary. He was by far the best picther available and that isn't a great return. Maybe we'll be suprised by who we get and what it takes to get them. The Haren and now Oswalt deals included a lot of high ceiling prospects (low A guys).
  22. Follow up from same source: blacknbluecity @mrausch86 a cub broadcaster told one of our producers, hopefully it can still happen. about 2 hours ago in reply to mrausch86 Heard from a cub broadcaster, very interesting. BUT blacknbluecity @mrausch86 supposedly, the Dodgers came in with a last second bid. But, Lilly definitely wpould rather stay in Chicago with Sox. T about 1 hour ago in reply to mrausch86 Looks like the dodgers may have jumped in and complicated matters. Don't know if LA is on his no trade list. But like Chet said prob rather stay in the CHI. Very very interesting, granted the source us what it is. Atleast there was a follow up from him.
