  1. I wouldn't say that I'm eager to trade Rios, but this team needs some high-OBP guys, and Rios is one of the better trade chips to acquire such a guy. Also, moving Rios' salary may make it easier to re-sign Peavy.
  2. Let me know if you want some company on that Cincinnati game. Minor league schedules probably aren't out yet, but some teams that would fit geographically if they're home: 4/20: Pawtucket Red Sox, New Britain Rock Cats 4/22: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, Trenton Thunder, Reading Phillies 4/30: New Orleans Zephyrs, Birmingham Barons, Mississippi Braves 5/3: San Antonio Missions, Midland RockHounds 5/4: Albuquerque Isotopes, Tucson Padres, Las Vegas 51s 5/8: Fresno Grizzlies, Sacramento River Cats 5/9: Tacoma Rainiers 5/12: Omaha Storm Chasers, Iowa Cubs
  3. No Donovan, no Altidore. Does that leave Tim Howard as the top goal scorer on the roster?
  4. As long as Dusty gets to within 4 outs of the World Series with the Reds, that's good enough for me.
  5. Moneyball never won any hardware--just like Billy Beane.
  6. Sox fans are eager to shove a guy who was on of the best dozen pitchers in all of baseball in 2012 out the door. No wonder our attendance sucks. We have fans who expect the team to have five pitchers better than Peavy without paying any of them so much that tickets cost more than $20/game.
  7. Baltimore has a better record than New England and beat them head to head, so they get ranked above New England for now.
  8. 1 Houston 2 Atlanta 3 San Francisco 4 Chicago 5 Baltimore 6 New England I think I would leave 7-9 vacant, because I think there's that much of a dropoff after the top six.
  9. A: Rios, Pierzysnki, Sale, Peavy, Jones, Veal, Crain B: Konerko, De Aza, Youkilis, Wise, Quintana, Santiago, Crain, Thornton, Myers C+: Dunn, Flowers, Floyd, Reed C-: Beckham, Liriano D: Ramirez, Viciedo, Humber F: Hudson, Morel
  10. I had a choice between ND-Miami tickets and Sox playoff tickets. I chose poorly.
  11. Ron Powlus lived down the hall from me in the same piece of s*** dorm for two years. No luxury suites for football players at ND.
  12. I think it ultimately depends on Peavy. If Peavy can be re-signed, Gavin will be gone. If not, he stays. The Sox are in desperate need of some OBP and Gavin is the best trade chip for getting it.
  13. If the NCAA doesn't like the one and done system, it's pretty easy to change on their end. New rule: Every scholarship you give out counts against your limit for three years, regardless of how long the player actually stays. Would force teams to limit the number of one-and-done players they get. You couldn't bring in five new ones every year.
  14. I have zero doubt that Floyd's option will be picked up. Lots of teams will be making offers for him if the Sox decide not to keep him.
  15. Quintana is a lefty starter who just put up 136.1 innings with a 3.76 ERA. There is somebody out there who would pay through the nose for him. KW has made a career out of finding that somebody.
  16. Judging from the dozens of excited people on my Facebook feed, Kentucky must have landed some major recruit today.
  17. I don't think any team is going to offer AJ 18 million for two years, but if they do, there's no way the Sox should match it. I think he'll end up re-signing for $11-14M for 2 years.
  18. Let me know when they get that 7-10 day time frame narrowed. I'm planning a Konerko Suture Removal party.
  19. I would too, but we don't know for sure that Jake would come back at $12-14M per year, while Myers is guaranteed to be back at $10M if the Sox want him.
  20. Assuming that Peavy can be re-signed, the rotation has Sale, Peavy, Danks, and Quintana or Santiago. Then your options for 5th starter are Floyd @ $9M, Myers @ $10, or you can go with both Quintana and Santiago.
  21. Not disagreeing with your statement and that's what I'm probably going to do, but I was responding to the comment about having tenants who end up not buying by pointing out that I will make out pretty well even if the tenant doesn't end up buying.
  22. Wow, that's awful. No amount of success in sports can make up for that.
