  1. Mike Gomez, closer, Florida International University. 4.10 ERA. Decent strikeout to walk ratio. Not rated on BA 500.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:20 AM) Must be some stuff there. Perfect Game has him with an 87 mph fastball and a potential plus curve.
  3. Connor Walsh, RHP, Cincinnati. 3.86 ERA. Uninspiring strikeout numbers. #318 on the BA 500.
  4. Zach Fish, OF, Oklahoma State. Hit .309/.413/.531 this year. #475 on the BA 500.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 08:53 AM) Read up on him, and why his K numbers are artificially low. I've read it, I touched on it above. I still think it's a very low strikeout number, even with predominantly fastball usage.
  6. Tweet that Brett Austin favourited on Twitter: Sahadev Sharma @sahadevsharma · 20h Think the White Sox will tell Brett Austin the reason he'll get so much below slot is because they have to pay up for his battery-mate?
  7. Do those putting Chris Beck high up on their lists know he has struck out a mere 35 batters in 75 AA innings this year? Granted there's a possible explanation in terms of concentrating on his fastball, and he seems to get a lot of groundballs, but that still scares me. Especially coming off a season when he struck out just 57 in nearly 120 innings at high-A.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 07:04 AM) So are we past the 7th round yet or has the locked draft pick list just not been updated in a while? We're 10 rounds in. 11-40 today.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 09:31 PM) I don't know I don't think he's been very good there this year. Defensive metrics aren't great in small sample-sizes but for what it's worth, he ranks 7th of 29 qualified first basemen in defensive runs saved.
  10. De Aza now walking 1.3% more than last year, hitting slightly more line drives, and striking out just 2% more.
  11. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:14 PM) Stone says he believes the deal with Rodon will be done soon Interesting. Rodon himself on the topic: The slot recommendation for the No. 3 pick is $5.7 million. It’s still early, so Rodon didn’t have much insight to offer when asked about the prospects of a deal getting done. “I’m not really sure,’’ he said on a conference call with reporters Friday. “That’s later down the road. In a month or so we’ll figure that out, but I’m still trying to enjoy this moment, spend time with my family and enjoy the whole thing and let it sink in.’’
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) Not really. If he is being honest with the staff, they would be able to find something. Maybe it's just a learning year for him. His velo is down 3-5 mph. This is the same level that he destroyed last year.
  13. I have the Angels broadcast, nothing from Hawk and Stone on the draft yet?
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) Where da strikeouts Beck? Lots of ground outs at least. He got one!
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) You have to think the Sox have done every test imaginable on him by this point. Could be something which doesn't show up on ordinary tests, structural shoulder fault maybe? Meanwhile Ravelo 3-3
  16. My gut is that he's hurt. Which would quite frankly be a relief at this point.
  17. Rangel Ravelo 2-2, second hit at the end of the sort of long at-bat that's become his trademark
  18. Kyle Hansen took over in relief for Montas and stranded the runners with 2 Ks and a groundout. Montas's ERA is now 1.23 on the year. Meanwhile for Charlotte, Carlos Sanchez is 1-2 with a walk, Davidson 1-3 with a HR, Saladino 1-2 with a double, Phegley 1-3 with a HR. But they're down 13-4 with De Los Santos following Johnson in getting rocked.
  19. Single and infield single does it for Montas in the 8th 7.0 IP, 8H, 0R (so far), 1BB, 6K 67 strikes, 32 balls. Fastball at 92 in the 8th.
  20. Groundout, groundout, groundout for Montas in the 7th. 7.0 IP, 6H, 0R, 1BB, 6K
  21. Anderson towering flyout to dead centre, almost out of there. Johnson has given up 6 hits, 5 walks and 7 runs in 4. He has struck out 5.
  22. Groundout, groundout, lineout for Montas in the 6th, all to Anderson. 6.0 IP, 6H, 0R, 1BB, 6K. Second groundout sounded like a great play by Anderson. Commentator said while Anderson had struggled at times defensively, plays like that showed the special natural talent he had at the position.
  23. Groundout, strikeout, single, caught stealing for Montas in the 5th. 5.0 IP, 6H, 0R, 1BB, 6K.
