  1. Now 9 players left on the Baseball America Top 500 that are ranked higher than the Sox pick, 3 picks to go: 19. Sean Reid-Foley, RHP 20. Monte Harrison, OF 21. Jacob Gatewood, SS 23. Spencer Adams, RHP 33. Jacob Bukauskas, RHP (signability issues) 36. Nick Burdi, RHP 40. Michael Gettys, OF 41. A.J. Reed, 1B 42. Joe Gatto, RHP Unless Reid-Foley, Harrison and Gatewood go in consecutive picks, the Sox will have the chance (bonuses obviously a factor) to get a BA Top 21 rank at 44.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) Top 500 or Top 50? They do a top 500. I'm listing players ranked higher than where the Sox pick, 44.
  3. Now 10 players left on the Baseball America Top 500 that are ranked higher than the Sox pick, 5 picks to go: 19. Sean Reid-Foley, RHP 20. Monte Harrison, OF 21. Jacob Gatewood, SS 23. 4. 13 players left on the Baseball America Top 500 that are ranked higher than the Sox pick, 10 picks to go: 19. Sean Reid-Foley, RHP 20. Monte Harrison, OF 21. Jacob Gatewood, SS 23. Spencer Adams, RHP 31. Derek Fisher, OF 33. Jacob Bukauskas, RHP (signability issues) 34. Forrest Wall 36. Nick Burdi, RHP 39. Jack Flaherty, RHP 40. Michael Gettys, OF 41. A.J. Reed, 1B 42. 5. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) We all agree that Rodon is the top prospect in the system, assuming that he signs? Pfft, Matt Davidson is hitting 180 points higher than him this season
  6. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) Hope Tigers don't take Burdi. He could help that pen this year. Hope they do. Realistically we have little or no chance of beating the Tigers this year, the true battle is over the next few years, the more picks they spend on relievers, the better. They took Hill, damn.
  7. RODON B*TCHES!!! A real victory for us legends who wanted the Sox to lose down the stretch last year. We were not the heroes the Sox deserved, but the ones they needed.
  8. If the top hitter in a sea of arms turns out as good as last year's, I'd take Jackson
  9. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) What do you not get? If the Marlins choice is between a guy who is there and a guy who is not there, then they will obviously pick the guy who is there. If it's Rodon vs. Aiken for Houston and Rodon and Jackson for the Marlins, then a selection of Rodon by the Astros (assuming 50/50) leaves Aiken to us. The Marlins draft board is going to be set by now in all likelihood. If it goes Rodon/Jackson or Jackson/Rodon 1/2 then as long as HOU takes Rodon, Aiken will be ours. I misread, thought you had Aiken in Miami's choices Either way, I think all this chat is deemed irrelevant by the Astros taking Aiken 1-1
  10. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 12:29 PM) If the choice with Houston is Rodon vs. Aiken 50/50 and Marlins have it 50/50 Jackson vs. Rodon then there's a 50% chance (in a vacuum) that Aiken falls to us. Err...
  11. My order of preference (would probably put Jackson in there but sounds like we're really locked into a pitcher): Aiken Rodon Nola Kolek
  12. Seems like the Jackson to the Marlins buzz is dying down and most have them taking Rodon now. Arses.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 11:26 PM) Not top three ranked. Top three in terms of the needs and financial resources of those first 3 teams picking, especially the Marlins. But even the Astros have been known to go for underslot as well, like the Correa pick. And the Astros are doing a ton of posturing with Nolan Ryan, Porter, Luhnow, etc., if they're not taking Kolek. Maybe it's just PR to fend off the idea from their fans they didn't give the local kid a shot with the Stros. Aiken and Rodon are 100% top 3 ranked. Jackson seems to have leap-frogged Kolek for most evaluators.
  14. Don Mattingly just had a very chippy press conference, answered like 4 different questions in a row with "Danks was just better than us tonight"
  15. Industry consensus right now seems to be that the top 3 rated players are Aiken, Rodon and Jackson. I guess the chances of the Sox taking the latter if the former 2 are gone are about the same as Leury Garcia hitting a home run to straightaway centre at Dodgers Stadium.
  16. Two winner threads started at 00:15, one by BigHurt3515 and the other by Bigsoxhurt35
  17. I would say that without making those plays there's no point to Leury Garcia, but we've discovered tonight he's the Dominican Abreu, so ok
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) Danks is getting good again. Remember his last bad outing a few starts ago when many people on the board wanted him DFA'ed? Danks haters need to give him his props. He looks like he's getting good, again. Entering tonight he was 89th of 99 qualified pitchers in FIP and 96th of 99 in xFIP. Obviously DFA'ing him would be ridiculous, but I'm still trading him if they get anywhere near full salary relief.
  19. Did Van Slyke finger Danks's wife or something?
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 10:16 PM) I am happy as everyone is about his success, but the power # in 58 at-bats???? ummmm Huh? Btw it was PA, typed at-bats by mistake
  21. Pretty cool Carlos Sanchez fact I just figured out: 3 HRs in first 1889 MiLB PA, across 1456 days 3 HRs in last 58 MiLB PA, across 10 days
