  1. Great news. Can't tell you how disgusted I was at having to sit through start after start watching that scruffy-ass beard. I hope they promote Axelrod and his smooth face to replace him but this will do for a start.
  2. Justin Jirschele 2-2. This is insane. That's .558 on the season with zero strikeouts in 48 PA.
  3. Carlos Sanchez 1-1 Matt Davidson 0-1 Rangel Ravelo 0-1 Kevan Smith 1-1 Tim Anderson 0-2 Courtney Hawkins 1-1, double Keon Barnum 1-1, double Justin Jirschele 1-1, .548 Tyler Danish 2.0 IP 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K Cleuluis Rondon 0-1 Trey Michalczewski 0-1
  4. QUOTE (CyAcosta41 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 05:15 PM) I'm with you. Lots of mis and disinformation this time of year. Smokescreens. Perhaps less important in baseball than in sports where trading of draft picks is possible, but as a GM, you're arguably not doing your job unless you play the smokescreen game. You're certainly not having as much fun with it as you could. I suspect strongly that pitchers go 1 and 2. It wouldn't shock me if Kolek was the Astros pick. It would be such a win if position players go 1 and 2. The team that's horrendous with position players, but damned good with pitchers, getting the chance to take their preferred guy -- THE GUY -- at 1-3! It's also the only REAL way we'd ever know who the chosen one REALLY is. If one or more pitchers go BEFORE 1-3, then the post-draft statements from the Sox tell us exactly nothing. If they're taking the first pitcher, their actions will say everything! I can't wait! PS ... Unlike some, I won't freak if we take Nola ... no matter what the circumstances. Dude is SERIOUSLY underrated. He may not have #1 ceiling, but he certainly has #2 ceiling (which is VERY valuable). And he's arguably a lot likelier to actually reach that ceiling -- and quicker -- than any of the Big Three is likely to reach theirs. Arguably. Everything about the baseball draft is "arguably." Agreed on Nola. It's not like he doesn't have the stuff.
  5. Still resigned to Aiken-Rodon going 1-2. Anything else would be a nice surprise.
  6. White Sox should call up Cleuluis Rondon so he can make beautiful plays and glare at Gillaspie/Beckham as they sit on the bench
  7. QUOTE (strike00 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 11:10 PM) True. Could there have been any worse of a defensive inning? No balls hit slightly either side of Viciedo
  8. Chance for Gillaspie here to homer and make up for 40% of his mistake
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 10:06 PM) Beckham's defense has be nothing short of great this year. I know the defensive metrics have been down on him in the last couple years but scouts are going to love what they see from him. For all his hitting struggles over the years, you have to respect how far Beckham has come as a fielder. His speed is going to limit his range, but his defense just shows how hard he had worked at it.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 10:50 PM) A goal for next year has to be finding a better than awful defensive 1B. Abreu is a better defensive first baseman than Garcia/Viciedo are defensive outfielders.
  11. I'm still staggered by that play by Gillaspie. Kershaw wasn't even close to third base.
  12. I just wanna know what Q did to his teammates to make them hate him so much
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) Most of their fans love not having a DH. I don't know why. Oh because it's so magical when a pitcher gets a big hit, even though they have like a .333 OPS every year and cause lineup chaos and yay sac bunting
  14. *Obligatory f*** the NL lack of a DH comment* Just change it already.
  15. You could put together a pretty nasty rotation with a list of pitchers Abreu has homered off this year: Clayton Kershaw Justin Verlander David Price Corey Kluber Chris Archer/Jesse Chavez
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 09:54 PM) Not good, but compared to ADA, he's been playable. 25 point OPS difference, and not sure why we're excluding Sierra's time in Toronto. I actually don't mind the pickup, but Sierra's been way worse this year.
  17. Vin Scully thinks he might have broken his bat on that
  18. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) I wonder what it looks like with only his CHA games included in the stat. Hitting .245/.288/.265 with the White Sox
  19. Moises Sierra's 2014 wRC+ is 12. Next lowest of players with 85+ PA is 20.
  20. Tyler Flowers sees 3 whole pitches. Improvement!
