  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) 62 at bats since Eaton last walked, which means he hasn't drawn a walk since he returned from the DL. Also, he has one extra base hit during this time, and that was a double on a misplayed fly ball by Alex Gordon. He's been getting to 3-ball counts relatively frequently, just is not taking with 3 balls
  2. Good 2-4 night for prospects: Kevan Smith 2-4, home run Tim Anderson 2-4, double, home run Keon Barnum 2-4, double Trey Michalczewski 2-4, home run (Justin Jirschele 2-4, still no Ks on the year)
  3. I swear Matt Davidson goes 1-5 every single night
  4. Tim Anderson 5th walk of the year
  5. Saladino now 3-3 Carlos Sanchez 2-4 with a double Jacob May 2-3 Jirschele only 1-2, average plunges to .538 Cleluis 1-3 with a rare double Micker Adolfo again not in DSL box score, is he stateside?
  6. Tyler Saladino 2-2 with a double
  7. Trey Michalczewski homer
  8. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) Really I am at peace with any of the top six guys at this point: Rodon - Was the next coming of David Price before this season, played on a bad team and sometimes that can affect pitchers Aiken - Best mix of pitches in the draft, a refined feel for pitching and good command Kolek - Solid mechanics, physical build, throws heat, Jackson - The Paulie comp was throw out there by one pub today, best hitter in the draft something the Sox sorely need is hitters that have bat to ball skills Gordon - Sox have been pretty good developing MI lately, not as fast as his brother, but a better fielder and some power Nola - Perhaps this years Wacha - decent chance to be the first player in this class to reach the majors I was just clarifying the spelling.
  9. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) The problem is that the Marlins probably look at the trade as a way to save money. They already had one comp pick and would have had to at least offer $1.3M to avoid losing this pick. They had the largest bonus pool but may not have the financial flexibility to sign all the picks. It would be interesting to know if the Pirates picked up any of the $300K owed to Morris. Right, but the best guy they can get is Bryan Morris? Rick Hahn has repeatedly spoken about how excited the Sox are, not only to be picking at 3, but to be picking early in each round. This is a pick higher than any one of ours other than 3, and it took just Bryan Morris to get it? Either the Marlins were locked onto Morris so much so that they didn't even consider lifting the phone for potential offers that might be better on paper, like the Tigers and Robbie Ray, or other teams, including the Sox, were asleep on this.
  10. Who wouldn't we have given up from our pen for the 39th pick? Webb and that's it?
  11. Presuming Aiken and Rodon are off the board, who would people prefer: Kolek at slot, Nola a bit under slot, or someone else? I'd be leaning towards Nola.
  12. Nice start from Jake Sanchez: 7.0 IP, 5H, 1ER, 0BB, 6K. ERA of exactly 3 on the year.
  13. 15 hits for Charlotte, but few from the right guys. Davidson 1-5, 2 Ks.
  14. I'd much rather have the 39th pick than Bryan Morris. Dude has been worth -1.8 WAR for his career. That might be a bit harsh on him as a groundballer, but he's at the very best an average reliever.
  15. Moises now hitting .173/.209/.222 on the season, a wRC+ of 13. Yikes.
  16. Bryant has hit over 100% above league average at every stop. wRC+s of 214, 209, 212 and 219. I think I'd have him over any prospect in baseball, even Buxton.
  17. Tyler was just about to slip below league-average too, had a 100 wRC+ before that
  18. Montas has struck out 5 in 4 IP, has given up 2 runs but neither earned, 2 errors (sac fly and a balk got them in). 1 hit, no walks.
  19. Justin Jirschele with a ground-rule double. He's got to be the hottest hitter in MiLB.
  20. Kris Bryant 2-run homer off Chris Beck. Bryant is so, so good.
