QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 3, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) Doesn't that apply to everyone? Probably applies most to the guy who had a 8.94 BB/9 rate at AAA Memphis last year and has a 9.00 BB/9 rate with the White Sox

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) They'll keep Cleto over Putnam. If they do I'll riot
-
Had a bad feeling that was coming. He's been very swing-happy in big situations iirc. Lucky he was left something by the plate for the grand slam. (still love him)

Abreu can get very antsy sometimes

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 2, 2014 -> 09:53 AM) This year he is hitting really well albeit at Low A. The thing is though, if he hits at all he will be a big leaguer. His glove is that good. Well, I wouldn't quite say "really well", his wRC+ is 87. That said, if he hits that in the majors, you're ecstatic. Baseball Prospectus dude: Ethan Purser @EthanPurser Apr 30 I'm running out of adjectives with which to describe Cleuluis Rondon's defensive ability. It's sensual. And in case people missed it, Nathaniel Stoltz did a great write-up of him here: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/prospect-wa...don-and-garcia/

My man Cleuluis went 3-5 Also: Josh Feldman @BigTexJosh 1h WOW! SS @CleuluisRondon just made a diving defensive stab on the other side of 2B then flung it to first for the out. He is fun to watch. Josh Feldman @BigTexJosh 1h AGAIN! Cleuluis Rondon with a sliding backhand stab then throws from a knee to 3B to get the lead runner for the 2nd out of the inning.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 1, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) Micah thus far: 1-1, BB. Ho hum. And he stole third again
-
Chris Beck gave up 3 in the first. Yeesh. On the plus side, Matt Davidson homered.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 10:35 PM) Pick your poison, eh? Well yeah, but it's a bit like a wild mushroom versus boiling sulphuric acid -
Micah doubles, now 2-3 with a walk and a stolen base, also a strikeout and his 4th error of the season
-
Micah 1-1 with a walk and a steal of third. He's so awesome.

Stoltz doesn't have video of the Rondon play. Described it as "one of the absolute silliest plays I've ever seen". I will never forgive him.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) 2/$30+, maybe 3/$45+ He was less than a 1-win player last year, he'll probably be around the same this year. 3/$45m would be an insane overpay. -

Cleto walking over a batter an inning, same as at AAA Memphis last year. How long does he get if his control doesn't improve? -

Just in, what was Abreu's double like? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 09:49 AM) Luck implies that if the pitchers made no changes, Flowers would revert back to his old self. As I have consistently said, he will take a plunge when pitchers throw out the old book on Flowers and make new adjustments. That isn't "bad luck" or a lack of "luck". That is baseball, and pitchers trying to get out batters. All those numbers say it what I can see on my TV screen. Flowers and probably Steverson figured some things out and have plan of attack for how pitchers are going after Flowers. When the pitchers change, so will Flowers numbers. That has nothing to do with luck. And no has ever said the guy was a .350 hitter. That is absurd. He won't be a .350 hitter because pitchers won't pitch him the same way. So theoretically, if pitchers continued to throw to him as they have been (striking him out 34.5% of the time, as opposed to 34.2% of the time last year), would you expect him to maintain a BABIP close to .600?

Stoltz was at the game so video should surface at some point

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:48 PM) Eaton came from Arizona....like...5 months ago. Ah crap, didn't read the thing about coming through our system
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) Who's the last player our system produced who could actually bunt with any degree of confidence? Maybe Getz? Part of it's a symptom of the times, but geez, you'd think we would want to have one Japanese/Korean player (like Iguchi) who could actually set an example of how to do something so simple that most of us learned in Little League. Maybe coaches are afraid their best high school/college hitters will break their fingers or foul the ball off their face, but it has gotten ridiculous the last 20 years as a lost art in the game. Eaton is one of the best bunters around

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:39 PM) How horrendous was Viciedo's error on a scale of 1 to 10? Lost it in the lights? Overran? Just a misplay? Whiffed? Juggled? A 7 for the drop, add 3 for failing to pick the ball up first time like he does a hell of a lot
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Viciedo will probably DH long-term. At least, I hope so. It's a minus that you'll even have to have one of Viciedo/Garcia out there but yeah, god bless the DH
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 09:30 PM) Huh? If/when De Aza is traded, our OF defense gets infinitely better with Danks in there instead. I meant long-term, assuming the corner outfielders are Viciedo and Garcia
-
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) De Aza can be bad out there too at times He graded out largely positively in centre, so he's likely gonna be a plus in left, and has been so far in a small sample-size. Garcia and Viciedo have graded horrendously. Avi is probably worse than Dayan, which is saying something.
-
Man, our corner outfield defence is gonna be rooough if/when De Aza gets traded
-
How many times does Dayan not only not catch it, but also bobble it trying to pick it up? I swear every time he doesn't reach a fly ball he takes a good 3 seconds to pick the f***ing ball up
