QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) Is it possible she just retweeted a bunch of Sox tweets last night, and they retroactively got inserted into her timeline? Retweets are shown at the time of the retweet, not the time of the tweet -

Scott Merkin @scottmerkin · 5m Rodon on his interactions with CWS this past year: "Most interactions are on TV and watching Jose Abreu hit some bombs. That’s about it." Scott Merkin @scottmerkin · 7m More Rodon: "I got picked by a great club, a lot of history. I'm looking forward to it." Scott Merkin @scottmerkin · 7m Rodon on disappointment of not being No. 1: "I wouldn’t say disappointment. I would say motivation." -

Fry #93 on mlb.com Scouting Grades: Fastball: 50 | Curveball: 45 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 45 Showing no ill effects from 2012 Tommy John surgery, Fry joined fellow lefty Ben Wetzler to form two-thirds of Oregon State's very effective weekend rotation in 2014. Fry uses deception and pitchability to allow his average stuff to play up. His fastball will top out in the low 90s, but it has a good amount of sink and tail to it. He'll add and subtract from his curveball to give hitters different looks, and his changeup often features good sink. He attacks hitters well, though he can get into trouble when he doesn't keep his stuff down in the zone. Fry may not wow scouts with plus stuff, but guys who perform well, especially in a conference like the PAC-12, tend to do well on Draft day. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) For a top 3 pick, it's a little disappointing not to have heard a word from Rodon himself yet. Jim Callis just said the following on the mlb.com coverage about Spencer Adams: - that he would have moved him up to #27 in the rankings if he had done a draft-day ranking - that he really thought he was going to the Dodgers at #22 - that he has a huge ceiling -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) The fact is you are basing this on about five starts for Montas, while dismissing an entire year of Davidson without any thought. While you also note that Davidson is in his sixth year of pro-ball Montas is in his fifth, and hadn't really put up numbers to look at until this year. It probably isn't a bad idea to let the guy go a few months before declaring him a better prospect than a guy who was a BA Top 100 guy for last year. Montas put up a FIP of 2 and a half at rookie ball in 2012.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:27 AM) Just says the next two days are starting at 1:00 p.m., so all the higher picks (3rd-5th rounds) will already be over by then. Right-hander J.B. Bukauskas from Stone Bridge High School in Virginia is ranked No. 38 on MLB.com's Top 200 prospects list and is the highest-rated player still on the board entering the third round. He is one of 34 players in the top 100 who have yet to be selected. Bukauskas is committed to North Carolina and was a junior when school began in the fall. But at the request of the Tar Heels coaches, he moved his high school graduation up a year, becoming eligible for the 2014 Draft in the process. Though his dynamic arm excited scouts this spring, he remains committed to North Carolina and sent a letter to teams last month telling them he intended to attend college. Even after a pitcher-friendly Day 1 of the Draft, Bukauskas is one of 21 pitchers rated in the top 100 who were still on the board entering Day 2. Among the remaining highly ranked pitchers are a few who missed time this spring because of injury, including Rice right-hander Zech Lemond (No. 58); Milton (Ga.) High School right-hander Dylan Cease (No. 76); and University of Texas left-hander Dillon Peters (No. 83). Highlighting the available position players are two high school stars: Norris (Neb.) High School catcher Jakson Reetz (No. 40) and American Heritage High School (Fla.) shortstop Milton Ramos (No. 46). Norris (should be REETZ) is committed to Nebraska, and Ramos, considered by some scouts to be the best defender in the Draft class, is committed to Florida Atlantic. Of the remaining college players ranked in the top 100, most are pitchers. Arkansas right-hander Chris Oliver (No. 48) leads the group, while Oregon State right fielder Dylan Davis (No. 74) is the top position player. www.mlb.com I kind of figured it out myself, at 240 picks and 1 minute between picks, that's 4 hours. Wonder if the Cubs make a run at Bukauskas with their savings. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) I'm guessing they go off the board for some Rodon savings. The rumour is that Rodon's demand is $6m. That's only a couple hundred thou over the Sox slot. Mightn't need much savings. Mightn't need any at all if they get him at slot for a promise of a quick promotion.
