Curious as to how you ranked Montes de Oca as the best changeup, from what I read he has a plus fastball, a curve that could be plus, and he has rarely used the change.

One of the worst Sox losses I've ever witnessed

One step closer to that protected draft pick. #thinkpositive -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:14 PM) It was fine for him to go out for the 8th. But leaving him in after Ramirez's error was just dumb. Having Petricka, a fastball pitcher, match-up with Josh Hamilton, their hottest hitter in recent weeks...was just dumb, as well. They should have used Putnam, who has the type of movement and slower stuff to give Hamilton fits. One complaint about Ventura that I will agree with is that he seems to manage the bullpen by ERA. He was putting in Cleto in high-leverage situations despite awful peripherals, and now Petricka is his go-to guy despite the fact Putnam has been clearly better.

We were talking about a complete game during the 7th. If Robin takes him out after the 7th and the bullpen that you've all despised for most of the year gives up 6, I bet we have people calling that a sackable offence too. He left him out too long in the 8th, but s***. It's Chris Sale. He got a groundball off Cowgill that should have been a double play, and I thought he had Kendrick struck out.

Fun fact: 0.62% of pitchouts are successful

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:50 PM) Followed by hector santiago TRVR @trevorbeal_ 2m Chris Sale grabs a bat and UNLOADS in the bottom part of the dugout. Can't blame the guy! The Angels broadcast showed it, not sure if the Sox one did. He went down the tunnel and hammered it off the wall
-
There was a slider to Kendrick I thought he had him struck out on, late movement meant Tyler caught it low but I thought it passed through the zone

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:48 PM) Sale should have absolutely started the 8th. All you people yelling and screaming about it AFTER THE FACT don't get any points from me. Were all of you saying he should be taken out after 7 innings when it actually happened? I must have missed that. But Sale should have never stuck around the face Trout, or really any batter after Alexei's error, that much should have been obvious. Yup.

DFA THE BUM

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:25 PM) Was that dude honestly trying to take the bat away from the guy in the next brace? He was, and he did it too.
-
Did you guys see Sale walk off the mound all salty because he gave up two hits? That's the kind of downright petty perfectionism that marks greatness.
-
I think I'm legitimately in love with Chris Sale. What a man.
-
How good has Sale been this year? His FIP has actually gone up tonight

Just saw Josh Lueke was designated for assignment. Suck it Lueke.

First Sox game I ever watched was a Buehrle game. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=91060

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) Tank catches a break on the made to order double play. The 'hatred' of Buehrle from some Sox fans just floors me. Who hates Buehrle?
-
Buehrle's SIERA: 2011: 4.37 2012: 4.36 2013: 4.13 2014: 4.36 Now Buehrle usually out-pitches his peripherals a bit (although didn't last year), but there you go.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:41 PM) Then you say has been unhittable or nearly perfect. Something different. Actually I've just looked at Hamilton's hit again and you're right. In slow-motion you can see Stone's words deflect off the soul of Sale and onto Josh's bat just at the moment the ball reaches it. F*ck you, Steve Stone.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:39 PM) Seriously what broadcaster says a pitcher hasn't given up a hit to this point in the game.. Come on! A broadcaster who wants to describe what is happening?
-
A lefty got a hit off Chris Sale. It's been nice knowing you all.
-
There really is no reason to ever throw Jose Abreu a fastball

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:25 PM) Speaking of LD%, Conor Gillaspie is 2nd in the majors in hitting line drives. Only bested by Freddie Freeman. There we go
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:28 PM) IIRC, Trout ended Sale's perfect game with an infield single in May of 2013 on ESPN Grounder past Alexei into centre field I think

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:27 PM) I only use BR for splits and player information. I use Fangraphs for everything analytical. All I use it for now is player contracts, lays it out better than Fangraphs. Then Baseball Cube for college stats.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) I've always been a BBref guy, but I might turn to FanGraphs because BBref lacks a multitude of advanced stats I started off with b-ref, but haven't looked back since moving to Fangraphs. Does a way better job of analysing what should have happened as well as merely what has happened.
