  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) Thanks. I see that this comment adds a lot to the thread as well. I was simply welcoming someone back. Sorry, ban me! :headshake Anyways, to keep the thread on track, why would Colorado need a goalie? Simply as a back-up, no? Aebischer had some nice numbers. 32-19-9 with a 2.09 GAA in the 04-04 season is not too shabby. He is up there in quite a few stats... Having a good defense in front of him helped Aebischer immensely. But now they've lost Foote who was one of their top 2 D-Man, and IIRC wasn't Aebischer really shaky at parts during the last season and the playoffs?
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) That makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawks work a deal with Colorado. They need a goalie. I'd love to see Tallon put together a package for Hejduk, but I won't be complaining if it doesn't happen. More likely, we'll probably see a package of picks for Thibault. A second and a third? Just a second? I appreciate all the insight you've brought to this thread... :rolly Call me crazy, I'd actually prefer Tanguay to Hejduk. At least Tanguay has had some experience at playing at center, and he's younger, it would just depend if the Hawks could work out a long - term deal with him as he accepted Colorado's qualifying offer. Hejduk is a stud though, and they're relying on him to become their top point scorer now with Forsberg gone. That said, agreed on the picks. The Hawks are rebuilding, and they can use those picks come draft day for a possible trade up, or to just continue to rebuild that system. And please no more Russian players drafted, we don't to go through the likes of Yakubov and Radulov again. I still have some hope for Vorobiev though.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) I just think the Borchard for Burroughs trade makes a lot of sense. Both teams are pretty down on each player, and both teams have a need for the other. I don't know if Burroughs is ever going to be much better than Joe Crede though, it all depends on whether or not he can hit for power, and at least get more doubles etc. at the Cell than he did at PETCO.
  4. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) I also think that you all are going to be surprised at how well the Hawks go on the offensive zone - Yawney is a good coach. That's good to hear, and considering the rap's we've heard he's given as a teacher to the young kids, hopefully the likes of Matt Keith etc. can become 2nd line players instead of 3rd/4th line players if you catch my drift.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) I've heard that Lindros isn't the greatest guy in the clubhouse. If that's true, there's no way I want him anywhere near the 'Hawks... Also, Calder will make about $1.3 million this year per BHZ. That was my mistake, so the raises are going to be for Arny and Bell. It'll be interesting to see what the market is for Thibault, as far as what they can expect in return. Any guesses? That's why I really annoyed we missed out on Allison, especially for the price he went at. Off the top of my head, I'd say these teams could be interested in T-Bo; Tampa Bay Detroit Atlanta Los Angeles Phoenix Edmonton Colorado Vancouver Pittsburgh Washington

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Borchard is really helping his trade value now. He might be getting regular playing time....for the Padres next week. Didn't KW go down to visit the minors today IIRC? I just think they're going to give Borch 1 more chance in September.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) I've heard that the 'Hawks are now at $34 million? The cap is $39 million yes? I'd stop there. Trade Thibault, get the money down to about $31 million or so. If you can sign someone, great, but they don't need to. Remember, they're going to eventually have to give raises to Arny/Bell/Calder, so I hope they're looking down the road a little bit and have some flexibility. Being about five million or so shy of the cap isn't such a bad thing... They wanted to be around $34M in case the cap went down next season, and to have a crack at the FA's out there in the next off-season. It depends how big the raises for those 3 guys are. If you could get a Lindros on a 1 year deal though for about 1.5 to 2 mill like Allison, they should do it though. With him and Spacek's contracts coming off the books next season, that'd be about what $4 mill freed up in payroll right there.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) Great a soft tossing lefty who spots a fastball on the outside corner. Good lord. Considering the Sox have hit better against lefties this season than righties, you're calling us facing a lefty a BAD thing?
  9. Charlotte beat Durham 11-1. Good start for Dan's man Munoz, only giving up 1ER in 5IP but with 6BB's and 2K's. Baj's ERA now down to 1.11 after another inning of scoreless relief. Borch hit 2 HR's going 2 for 3 with a walk, now up to .262. Bikowski 2 for 3, Harris 3 for 5, no Anderson again. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...dubaaa_chraaa_1 B-Ham lost to Montogomery 6-1. Not good for Honel, giving up 6 in the 3rd, only pitching 4 innings, and giving up 7BB's and 2K's. Rogo homered, 2 hits for Gonzalez and Sweeney (which included a double), and Owens only had 1 hit tonight. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...biraax_monaax_1 Winston - Salem lost 6-4. Whisler with a good start by his standards this season, only giving up 4ER in 6.1IP, with 2BB's and 4K's. Castro gave up 2ER in 2.2IP to pick up the loss. Nanita and hall with 2 hits each, Valido went hitless, so did Schnur and the almighty Leo Daigle. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...frdafx_wswafx_1 Kanny beat Lexington 8-4. Richard Brooks finally made his Kanny debut giving up 4ER in 3IP with 3BB's and 1K. Bakker picked up the win pitching 5IP with 1BB and 7K's. Getz 1 for 3 with 2 walks, Brice 1 for 5, Lucy 1 for 4, Ricks (who was catching) 1 for 3 with a walk. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...kanafx_lexafx_1 Bristol won 9-0 over Johnson City. Cunningham 2 for 4 (he's ready), but the big news, Salvador Sanchez 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, 3 runs and 2 RBI's. He's back up to .248 now and was hitting in the #3 hole tonight. Williamson started didn't give up a run in 6.2IP with 2BB's and 6K's. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...jcyrok_brirok_1 Great Falls losing 6-1 in the bottom of the 8th, with Nachreiner pitching. Francisco Hernandez homered for his 6th of the year.
  10. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) when people get 3 wishes there stupid on the first wish they should always wish for unlimited wishes But doesn't the Genie tell you that one of the rules is that you can't wish for unlimited wishes?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) Tragic accident...a few of the admins drowned during our yearly cruise. Lucky I brought my floaties then wasn't it.
  12. How does she end up with a guy like him anyway? Oh well gives hope to the rest of us bumbs I suppose.
  13. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) sorry to tell you fellas, but Dale Tallon made the comment that everything is in place, and that all of his players have reported. I think he might be done. That leaves our offense.... :puke Gotta be a smokescreen. T-Bo's gonna be traded for something, might as well go after something big and include Daze or Calder in the deal to get that #1 center.
  14. REALLY annoyed that we missed out on Allison, when all he got from Toronto was $1.5M for 1 year, maybe he just dead set on a move there, but the Hawks should have at least offered 2.5 if that's what they're paying a 3rd line winger in Martin LaPointe. The Kariya one I can live with, because Nashville just gave him a big deal, and well center's a higher priority than a winger for me. And as Kap said yesterday, I think Eric Lindros is gonna be headed our way now, considering he's the only real 1st line center (when healthy) out there via FA. Let's just hope he doesn't get a concussion on the way to the press conference after he signs or something.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Nikolei Khabibulin Haha well done on quoting a post from what 3 or 4 days ago, before anyone knew the Hawks had ANY interest in Khabibulin. Nice.
  16. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) We haven't seen this pitcher in almost two years. I disagree with that statement. Yess Marte has been shaky, but at times this season we've seen him look like his old dominant self, it just hasn't happened as often as we would like.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) No f***ing way. They would let St Louis to leave????? I would want to grab that guy up in a second!!!! They will re-sign Vinny LeCavier to a long - term deal before St. Louis.
  18. News from the sites and papers; Sun Times - Tribune - Chelios re-signed in Detroit. If the Lightining re-sign The Bulin Wall, expect Martin St. Louis to leave.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) I got this from BHZ: So, basically, Tallon has put the ball in 'Bulin's court. At this point, it's take it or leave it -- the Hawks got their offer out there, and it's now up to 'Bulin. I'm hoping that they're able to land Palffy or Allison. I realize that Allison has been off-injured, but he's solid when healthy, and he's had a whole year off. Give him an incentive laden contract, and go from there. At least, that's what I'd like to see. Allsion and Palffy sounds like good targets to me. Toronto are the favorites to get Allison, but they've got over $30M invested in about 9 players, so they're in trouble cap wise. If the Hawks come in with a good offer, they might just get him.
  20. As it was already stated, Charlotte beat Durham 12-2. Greg Norton hit 2 homers, Gload homered and so did Bikowski. Borch 4 for 5, Gload 2 for 4, no Anderson tonight. Harris 1 for 4 with a walk. Bull started, 4.2IP, 4BB's and 2K's with 1ER. Matt Smith picked up the win pitching 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...dubaaa_chraaa_1 B-Ham got shoutout 2-0 by Mississippi. Owens 3 for 4 now up to .337, and only 2 other Barons with hits. Daniel Haigwood started, 7IP, 1ER, 2BB's and 10K's. Malone gave up 1ER in 2IP. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...msbaax_biraax_1 Winston - Salem lost 9-4. Not good for Gio, 4.2IP, 5ER, 2BB's and 5K's. Daigle who's back down in high A ball was 0 for 3 with a walk. Schnur with 2 hits, and Hinton too. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...frdafx_wswafx_1 Kanny won 6-0. Dan's sleeper prospect Adam Russell pitched 6 shoutout innings with 1BB and 2K's. Getz 1 for 5, Brice 1 for 4. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...kanafx_lexafx_1 Bristol lost 10-9 to Johnson City. Cunningham 3 for 6 with 2 doubles, Sanchez 1 for 5, moved from #2 to #6 in the order now. Viola gave up 6ER in 2.1IP starting. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...jcyrok_brirok_1 Great Falls winning 15-5 in the bottom of the 9th.
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Illinois is ranked amongst the top four state schools in the nation; Iowa is amongst...the...um...they have kick ass bars! Heads lives in Iowa. They haven't got that workin for em.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Do you see anything wrong with that quote DB? Sox, Hawks, I should just start saying Chicago now (but then I'd get flamed for Cubdom).
  23. News from Spector; There was an Allison to Buffalo rumor today, that's been debunked. I hope Tallon is on the phone to his agent, cos he'd be my #1 target right now. Updates List of UFA: Centers Jason Allison, Los Angeles; Andrew Cassels, Columbus; Vincent Damphousse, San Jose; Jim Dowd, Montreal; Ron Francis, Toronto; Chris Gratton, Colorado; Travis Green, Boston; Brian Holzinger, Columbus; Eric Lindros, N.Y. Rangers; Mark Messier, N.Y. Rangers; Rem Murray, Nashville; Andrei Nikolishin, Colorado; Yanic Perreault, Montreal; Jozef Stumpel, Los Angeles; Shaun Van Allen, Ottawa. Right wings Donald Audette, Florida; Peter Bondra, Ottawa; Valeri Bure, Dallas; Anson Carter, Los Angeles; Eric Chouinard, Minnesota; Adam Deadmarsh, Los Angeles; Rob DiMaio, Dallas; Tie Domi, Toronto; Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre, Washington; Alexander Mogilny, Toronto; Vladimir Orszagh, Nashville; Owen Nolan, Toronto; Ziggy Palffy, Los Angeles; Teemu Selanne, Colorado; Scott Young, Dallas. Right now as of this moment, we've got $18,894,000 locked up into 12 players according to TSN. The Spacek deal was for 1 year $2.25 million, wow. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature.asp?fid=7006 Names that stick out from the UFA list that haven't been mentioned yet; Cassels - Yeah he's 36. Yeah he was terrible in 03 with a -24 and only 26 points in 58 games. But the year before for Columbus he had 68 points in 79 games. If we miss out on a #1, and need a #2 center to push Arny up to the #1, Cassels wouldn't be the worst option, points wise. Not the toughest player of all time though. Carter - Wouldn't be a bad RW for us. Kind of like Cassels, bad 03 but a good record the previous 2 years with 60 points. Perreault - 2nd line center, excellent faceoff guy, good powerplay scorer. Mogilny - Up there in age at 36. But he's got a great record and if the price is right, well we need a guy who can get points from the RW besides Mark Bell.
  24. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) no, they're just douchebags. unless of course your still into the high school mentality. Oh no, glad those days are over let me re-assure you. I'm just lucky I can still live at home and go to Uni at the same time. And oh yeah, please go ahead and answer the 2nd part of my original question if you wish.
