QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) :fyou Crede Sideburns just aren't appealing to you anymore are they?

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Seriously, the Blue Jays are awful I mean who loses a series to them... I wouldn't go that far. They've done well to keep their heads above water with Halliday out, and they're only what 6 games back from the A's. Got a very nice young rotation too. It's ironic though, they need a big bat in their lineup, and Carlos Delgado would be perfect right now, but then if they kept him they wouldn't have Shea Hillenbrand. If only they didn't have Eric Hinske's contract.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) don't ever speak of that again. Too many bad memories huh?

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) last year my roomate sucked so it was hell. He enjoyed halo as much as we enjoy the sox. And by halo i mean screaming into his headset ALOT. this year i got a single room to myself, really looking forward to it. The whole community bathroom thing kinda sucks, but it wasn't terrible. But i did like the community that your floor is after awhile. When everyone has their doors open and you can just go and hang out, it's really a cool atmosphere. Especially since there were some good sox fans on my floor Any Frat or Sorority Houses nearby?

So what's it like living in a dorm?

So funny how when Iguchi was getting hammered on here (and some were calling for Willie to start), he's responded magnificently. He's back to .290 now, had splits of .293/.384/.493 (would be better than Soriano BTW), and he's hitting over .300 this month so far. And we've needed his production up the top of the order with Scotty's slump at the moment.

QUOTE(Cali @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) Why do these experts seem to keep forgetting they're talking about the Chokeland A's? I remember how great the A's were heading into the playoffs in '01, '02, '03.... I forgot what happened to them though.... Simple. They're in love with Billy Beane.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) but lefties are still hitting only .219 against cotts. I think last year Vizcaino was very good against lefties and brutal against righties. Politte has gotten everybody out. Marte has been brutal this year. .379 OBP against him. he has been the Sox worst reliever with the exception of Walker. He has also been the sox luckiest reliever. Cotts is also .120 against righties. If the choice comes up whether to use for a whole inning, or just to get a lefty out, they'll go with the whole inning (or at least they should, which they haven't been doing lately). The point is we don't really have a lefty LOOGY on this team, and we're not likely to get one. Yes Marte has struggled, yes he's been lucky. But he's also been injured, and he just needs some work to get that control back. It's worth him to continue pitching to lefties, to get that dominance back.

Realistically, Griffey isn't probably going to come unless the Reds owners do a complete 180 on this issue. With September call - ups, a guy like Brian Anderson could come up, rotate in the DH spot with Carl and have a Jeff Francouer like impact possibly.

Sox possibly to face most touted prospect since...

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) So because i say one pitcher is overrated i dont know baseball. I thought he looked good for sure. But everyones ready to put him in the hall of fame. The next Doc Gooden. Doc Gooden was good for a few years, wont get close to making the hall of fame. I know i wouldnt wanna get compared to him. Well considering that was what his first start in the majors, writing someone off and calling them overrated (especially after they only gave up 1ER in 5IP) probably isn't the greatest decision of all time. -
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) 11 for me. 75 posts per page, DO IT PEOPLE. That's gotta be an awful long page you'd have to read.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) The deal that was on the table? Yes. Contreras is killing our bullpen. Burnett would have been a nice replacement. The difference between A.J Burnett (for just over 2 months) and Jose Contreras wasn't enough to get rid of Brandon McCarthy and Damaso Marte however. Contreras won't be starting come playoff time anyway.

Considered how Uribe missed longer than the original diagnosis stated with his groin, I'm thinking they may play it on the safe side and keep Carl out until at least Monday or Tuesday just to be sure.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Does Ozzie actually look at the stat sheets in. Because if he did he would realize that marte can't get lefties out. The problem is we don't have many relievers who can get lefties out. Cotts is better against righties. Viz has been hammered against lefties (which was supposed to be his strength). Jenks has been wonderful against lefties, but they're not going to bring him in just to get 1 lefty out. They need to give Marte work to find his groove again against lefties, and there's gonna be some speed bumps along the way, but the potential reward is there for everyone to see. A healthy and dominant Marte equals one of the top 5 LH relievers in baseball.

QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) I was listening to the post game on ESPN, and Dolgin said something about his era being sub-1 for his last 17 appearances. Not bad at all. He's got a 1.04 ERA since the All - Star Break, and had a 2.25 ERA in June and a 1.20 ERA in July. He's appeared in 45 games now, and he's a workhorse. The more innings he throws, the better he seems to get. A valuable commodity come playoff time if he can keep it up, but of course he can't afford to get in love with slider of his again. Still doesn't have the greatest ERA at the Cell compared to away games, but hopefully that'll keep improving.

QUOTE(Tadahito Iguchi @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) I no but it said Tomas Perez does that mean Timo, and it says hell make outs to fill his place..........Thats a diss...... That's an upgrade, we should be happy and rejoicing.
-
You know what, who gives a damn. Boston deserve to be voted the best team in the AL because we haven't proved squat yet. They're the defending champs, they're the hot team in baseball, and quite frankly I'm happy for all of the "national" attention to go their way. Until the Sox make the playoffs and actually prove something, they don't really deserve much in my opinion.
-
Yea, but I actually don't use it much, and I need to upgrade.

QUOTE(black jack @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) isn't there a new clause for often injured players that their bonus won't count vs the cap if they get hurt again? if so, i'm all for Lindros (for 2.5 mil) and would LOVE to get Allision in here. I haven't heard of anything like that, but if that's the case, then the Hawks can afford to take a chance here. -

Not really a fan of a Lindros signing, but if it's say a 2 year deal at $2.5M a season, I can live with it, the Sox just need to get somebody to fill that void as the 1st line center. I'd prefer Allison though, and that's saying something with all of the concussion problems he's had as well. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) I'd love either of the top two. I'd like Kariya. Selanne -- eh, he's getting up there in age. But, he's not the worst option. Don't know enough about Bondra to comment on him... Bondra's 37, so it's have to be a 2 year deal at the most. Only had 49 points for the Senators in 03 (his worst since 99), but he was prob playing on the 2nd or 3rd line for them. I think he's a pretty soft player in the mold of Kovalev though off the top of my head, so that's prob not going to appeal him much to a lot of people. -
Our Immigration Minister tonight stated that we'd be naive not to expect a Terrorist Attack in Australia in the near future. And that's not a good forecast at all.

If they don't make a trade, most likely the Hawks are going to have to sign one of these 6 guys; Eric Lindros Jason Allison Ziggy Palffy Teemu Selanne Paul Kariya (rumored to sign with Montreal IIRC this morning though) Peter Bondra -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) IN the Trib, they said that Shea didnt even know his own offense, half the time he was trying to figure out what the play actually was. He was concentrating on replicating the KC offense so much, that he didnt know what he was doing. How could the Bears hire him in the 1st place then? Really bad decision on their part.
