QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) Vegas is a reasonable drive from there. If only I was 21.

My lost of favorites over the years at high school. 1) Locking the front gates which the ONLY entrance to the school shut with a giant padlock. 2) Replace the water in the swimming pool with jelly crystals. 3) The use of toilet paper, anywhere. 4) The egging of cars.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 26, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) Yankees, Jaret Wright. OOPS ... they paid him a lot more. I'm sure there are other examples. Thanks for playing though. Wade Miller - Boston Kris Benson - New York Woody Williams - San Diego Odalis Perez - Los Angeles David Wells - Boston And of course some other WONDERFUL FA SP that were signed include; Eric Milton - Cincinatti Russ Ortiz - Arizona Al Leiter - Florida Paul Wilson - Cincinatti Hook, line and Sinker.

I may be actually heading to the States in about a month. My Dad has a work contract over in Phoenix, Arizona for a few months, and hopefully I'll be able to go for a few weeks after exams (Jason's already offered to chauffeur me around Los Angeles ). Just wondering, to anyone who's actually been there before, what are the sights to see, and anything you could recommend to do would be helpful.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Yea I know...but the point everyone is missing is its not about how bad these guys are it's what is best for your biggest pitching prospect to come up since Mark B....but logic is a gift, given to us select few Of course there's the "WIN NOW" mentality, that those others are going to use.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) Who are these "MOST PEOPLE" and where can I get my hands on them??? Just read any thread mentioning Vizcaino (mainly with a gas can), Neal Cotts (and the leadoff walk, and he has no control), and any thread on Kevin Walker. I GUARANTEE there'll be quite a few.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) Not sure what that has to do with a bet if Mac is going down or not... What exactly can we bet on? Any Aussie gifts you would like?
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) You might want to have this conversation with someone who wants Brandon in the pen in Chicago as I never stated or implied that's what I thought should be done with him. Yeah I know Steff, we're both on the same viewpoint on B-Mac, it's just there's a lot of people on the other side, mainly because of the likes of Cotts, Vizcaino and Walker in our pen.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Hey why is that in green... I worked hard to make everyone not like me I have to admit, I have a mancrush on Iguchi... I that lil asian fella No it's actually because you're leading the PTC.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) You don't think he's going back down...?? How much... Most people think Kevin Walker and Timo Perez will be the ones to go with Frank and Gload coming back. Depends if the Sox want to keep Walker up as the extra lefty.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) In the past there's been a need to do so, and that's a stretch of an explination at best - and a "pattern" is hardly what I would call throwing s*** at the wall and hoping it sticks . There's no reason Brandon should be in the pen. None what-so-ever. To put him there would be complete stupidity. I break it down into this. You don't take your best prospect and turn him from a starter into a long reliever. Let him start, if not at Chicago, then down at Charlotte.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Sure, if your BAD as a starter you relegate the person to the bullpen...All these related incidents, I dont see as comparisons at all. Mark Buerhle was put into the bullpen when he first came up because there was a need for lefty reliever, same with Cottsy. Brandon really isn't needed to be a long reliever, If we have a glaring need for one bring up Jon Adkins or Robert Person. Its not like your long reliever has to be good anyways... That is my point of view. Of course right now there will be so much pressure on KW to keep B-Mac up with the big club after his 1st performance. But it was not like he was PERFECT down at Charlotte. Give him consistent innings down there, let him cut down on the home runs he has given up, and let him work on some things. But I don't think that's going to happen.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Ozzie had nothing to do with Mark's journey.. and I wouldn't quite call Neal a success story just yet. Anything else..? Jon Adkins perhaps (even though he hasn't been that successful either). Arnie Munoz? But the Sox have shown they will take starters from the minors that long - term probably won't make it as starters in the big leagues, and put them in the bullpen instead.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) QUOTE Guillen is hesitant to put rookie Brandon McCarthy in the bullpen once Hernandez is activated because of the lack of innings provided for the Sox's long relievers and the need to keep McCarthy as a starter. "I think this kid has to go back to the minor leagues and keep throwing," Guillen said. Curious to know what "pattern" and "track record" your referring to as well.. Neal Cotts maybe? Mark Buerhle?
-
QUOTE(kdhargo @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) Not sure if I wanted to start a new thread on this, or even sure if this is a pertinent issue in regards to contract status, but along the lines of trading talent... Is this Garland's last year/option with the Sox? Do the Sox trade him for equal talent and/or prospects towards the deadline or do they risk signing him long term and hope he keeps up his development and maturity he has displayed this year? No we still control his rights for next season. Expect a long - term deal to get done.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) One would think; yet, some have minor league affilities much further away than others. Perhaps that's simply because that's the best location for that team for whatever reason, wheter it be financial or other. Yes I've often suggested that the White Sox minor league affilates need to be based down here for the benefit of.......... ummmm........ ughhhh....... me.
-
After his good start a lot of Sox fans were hoping he could be ready for the start of next season. Now it looks like he won't be until 2007 at the earliest.

That monkey is probably s***ting himself as we speak. Great job by Freddy, 2 in a row both for the team, and for quality starts by Garcia.

Freddy Garcia. Night game. And he only gives up 2 ER. What's up with that?

I did that once. When I was 4. Except I locked myself inside. And the rest of my family were locked outside.
