QUOTE(YASNY @ May 28, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) Wow. Some of you people act like McCarthy is Big Ed Walsh reincarnated. He may be good. He may even be great. There is also a chance he may exceptionally mediocre. Then again, he may just suck. He could blow out his arm next year. Remember Jason Bere? Brandon McCarthy is just a prospect, at this point. Nothing more, nothing less. I guess not many people (well people who don't do their homework), saw the amount of homers he was giving up in AAA, and his ERA in his last 2 to 3 outings for Charlotte.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) No reason to rush. Let him get at least half a season in AA, if not a full season. See what he can do. He was in A ball last year and there is no harm in letting him go a system a year. Keeps him comfortable and he is still very raw as a pitcher. Boy do I love his stuff and attidue. I disagree with some of you because I think he can be a quality starter, if not a very good one. He has some really good stuff and movement and I can only see him getting better and better. How good will he get, I don't know if he'd ever be a #1, maybe he coudl be a #2 but not with his current control. As of now I'd say a good #3 is where his upside could take him (with better control that would rise). I know he's been bandied about in some rumors round here for a deadline upgrade for the big club (The Phillies were scouting him heavily about a week ago), but Jason out of all the top 5-10 prospects we have, would you deal Tracey, or would you try to trade someone else instead like a Ray Liotta or Tyler Lumsden instead if we were to make a trade (e.g the Freddy Garcia one from last season)?

It's going to cost B-Mac AND Anderson to get Huff, don't worry about that.
-
Time to get the swagger back. Even if we win only 1 out of the next 2 games, we've gone .500 on this road trip, which anyone would have definitely taken at the start of the season against the Cubs, Angels and Rangers.

Here's a good draft article; http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_12901.shtml Deron Williams: Best Case – Slower Jason Kidd Worst Case – Derek Fisher Raymond Felton: Best Case – Tony Parker Worst Case – Chucky Atkins

1) 19 pages on a Prior injury thread that turned into another Cubs PBP......... just sad. No wonder I hate the Twins and Yankees more. 2) You think that would hurt, have a look at this injury;

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 28, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) right side, I hope he's got an automatic transmission as he drives out of DC. In 2000 we were the envy of every organization with our pitching prospects and Jon headed the class. Amazing that these guys aren't doing more. Corwin Malone another of our top rated prospects got injured as well. Making his way back now, but he was on Jake Peavy's level a few seasons ago.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 28, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) As much as I appreciated the Cub's 2003 Steve Bartman ending and the 2004 final weekend ending, it will be nice to not worry about the Cubs actually winning anything for the next 5 or 6 years. I see a rebuilding in their future. I don't see Kotex Boy taking this too well. Personally I don't think they'll rebuild. They've got too big of a payroll to start playing all of their young players.

Time for Tracey to go to Charlotte perhaps?
-
Willie's got a .367 OBP in his brief time this year. If he gets demoted, instead of Perez, someone in the Sox Brass deserves to get shot.
-
Here's a question. Jordan Danks falls to the 3rd round spot where the Sox are picking. He has said that he'll be going to Texas. If there was any chance at all that he would sign a deal however (e.g Gio Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney), would you still pick him?
-
Other guys worth considering; Chris Volstad - RHP Mark Pawelek - LHP C.J Henry - SS John Mayberry - 1B Matt Torra - RHP Mark McCormick - RHP To me I'd prefer the Sox take a chance on a high school guy with a bigger upside than a college guy with more polish at this stage. The Sox have got enough good arms in their systems, that they can probably afford to take more of a chance, if you get what I mean.

QUOTE(mrkupe @ May 28, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Carillo reminds you of Kris Honel? That's the first time I've heard anything like that . . .care to elaborate for me? Honel was a high school guy who had average velocity from the get-go, poor makeup and obviously more than a few control problems. Carillo is a college guy who shows solid velocity at an older age (with above-average velocity at times) and is regarded as having very impressive makeup. If there's something here though, I'd love to hear it. This is just my opinion, but Carillo doesn't seem to have a lot of upside from where he is now. Sure his velocity is ok, but it's still not that great. I'd just like for us to select someone at #15 with a bit more upside, but hey that's just me.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Taft is apparently falling down many teams draft boards. But no way in heck does he get past the Knicks late 1st pick. Also there are rumors that Portland is fed up with their image and will clean house this offseason by trading or releasing Ruben Patterson, Zach Randolph, Damon Stoudemire and Nick Van Exel. Not sure if I believe that one though. Maybe John Nash has FINALLY seen the light. If they do end up with Marivn though, they've got a nice young core to build around in Telfair, Williams and Joel Pryzbilla (if he plays the way he did the 2nd half of last season). There's pieces there for Flip Saunders to work with. You gotta think Darius Miles would be outta there as well.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) you think so, theres a lot of talent in my opinion and i dont think hes mature and good enough for a first round selection Ok. Name 30 other guys who are going to be drafted in front of him then.
-
Where are my points on Anderson again. Maybe I should just put them into my sig so posters can constantly look at it.
-
Let's here those win now arguments folks.
-
I think Carillo has got Kris Honel written all over him, so I don't want to Sox to make that pick there. Pennington or Snyder I would be happy with at this stage.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Very true, but he is overated as all hell. Where do you see him ending up? I've seen him projected from 6 down to 16. Personally I wouldn't mind if the Magic took him, Howard and Taft would be a nice combo in the future, but Martell Webster is now the guy I want. Very Nick Anderson like, with some Glen Rice.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) If you have a few scorers in place and you need a distributer you take Deron. If you need your PG to score for you, you go Paul. If you want someone who can run the fast break you take Paul. If you want someone who can set up in a half court set you take Williams.
-
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 28, 2005 -> 06:23 AM) definitely a deep draft, so much talent is coming with chris taft as a second rounder most likely and boss a second rounder followed up by dee brown Chris Taft will NOT be a 2nd rounder.
-
QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) deron williams ahead of chris paul...even as an illini fan i doubt that will happen I know, they'd be crazy to do that. Chris Paul running the break with Josh Childress and Josh Smith on the wings.

QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) deron williams ahead of chris paul...even as an illini fan i doubt that will happen Taft not in the top 14? I'd be happy though if the Magic ended up with him or Martell Webster.

Thanks for the tips Jim and everyone else, I might have to drop you a PM depending on what happens in the future. And yes, thankfully if I go we'll have access to a pool. My Dad's company rents out a 4 bedroom house with a swimming pool in Phoenix, so that'll be really good, considering how hot it gets over there. I'll definitely be playing some golf if I go over there, good to know there's lots of courses around.
