QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) Mashinter doesn't score, make plays, fight, or hit. What is his function? He's the official Car bomb replacement.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Q shaking things up, and at this point you can't blame him. New lines at practice: Fleischmann-Toews-Kane Panarin-Anisimov-Hossa Ladd-Rasmussen-Shaw Mashinter-Desjardins-Weise "Nuclear option"

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) And look how closer they are now, they have their puppet in place with a championship roster and all of the sudden those injuries that were Thibs fault and those crazy minutes that were Thibs fault haven't gone away. But the defense went away and the offense looks worse. Weird WHAT?! We're talking about the Bulls! This was never a championship roster. At the very least, I would rather have a lottery pick than be an 8 seed.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) That f***ing train wreck won 50 games, this current f***ing train wreck looks like it will be lucky to break 40 50 games and nowhere close to a championship

Hopefully he can work out whatever personal issues he is having.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) McDermott sucked and then got hurt. Now you are saying Thibs won too many games? Were they trying to win a championship or not? For a guy who tells everyone how wrong they are, reading your fiction time and time again is beyond hysterical. Blaming injuries on Thibs is a joke. They were hurt before he came, they keep getting hurt after he left. You think Gar has to go, but you fell for his Thibs narrative hook, line and sinker. There would have been no reason to fire Thibs if the Bulls did the correct thing and launched Gar instead. The team would be better off. What fiction? Gar Forman clearly thought the team could improve by moving on to a different coach. It didn't and Hoiberg should have been his last chance. It's not hard.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Zach Zaidman @ZachZaidman 42m42 minutes ago TE Zach Miller says QB Jay Cutler was one of the biggest reasons he wanted to come back to the #Bears. Hopefully Cutler continues to be good, because the Bears are essentially out of the weeds on his contract. Really good to see players recognize his strong performance last season.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 01:20 AM) They did. And I like how AustinIllini dodged the question of why the Bulls are a whole lot worse than last year with Thibs. And how the minutes haven't changed under Hoiberg, the injuries are as bad if not worse and the only thing that has changed is the team is worse on offense, defense, point differential and wins. How'd they go from the only threat to Cleveland to not knowing if they'll make the playoffs. He tried to implement the Spurs offense and the players couldn't pick it up or wouldn't pick it up. Same with Hoiball. Thibs became a victim of his own success. He constantly overachieved. The Bulls FO rightly saw the writing on the wall. Thibodeau was never going to get out of the east and he was never going to let the team play bad enough to get a good draft pick. That's basketball irrelevance. Thibs would prohibit any rebuild and couldn't take the current squad to the finals, period. On top of that, Thibodeau wouldn't play the players Gar wanted him to play (McDermott rotted for a year). The problem is, Hoiberg is not a good coach at the NBA level. For that, Gar deserves to be fired, but stop pretending that the Bulls had no reason to fire Thibodeau. *The minutes haven't changed because Fred Hoiberg isn't very smart *Over Thibs' tenure, the injuries were significantly worse than anything we have seen this year and I'm sure the FO thought Hoiberg would be better What is so annoying is that I mostly agree with you: Gar needs to go. What bothers me is that you insist on calling me out when I have done nothing to you except ignore your ESPN First Take, no value added talking points.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) Not sure how refusing to give a pitcher a 7-year extension that will carry him through his age 38 season means the front office doesn't believe in him. It's generally not a good idea to give any pitcher a long-term deal in his mid-30s, especially one where you are paying him $30-35 million a year. Even if Arrieta puts up the same exact season as 2015 this year, he still wouldn't be worth that deal. Pitchers are just too risky. They don't know what they are committing to, anyway. I just don't think Arrieta is going to be second half 2015 ever again. If he were that good and you have the Cubs budget, you sign the Ace pitcher and deal with the bad years. The Cubs are at least skeptical he can repeat his success in 2016.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 10:24 PM) That's when the rest of the team that wasn't hot while he was is supposed to step up. Today's game was ugly. Hopefully they're embarrassed about it. It has been a horrible week, honestly. Would have been good to get more than one point from the Kings, Blues, and Stars games.

After this game, there's no question in my mind Crawford is the MVP of this team.
-
I like Flash's game.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) To be fair, Crawford hasn't played great either. In fact that second goal was on him. Certainly. Might as well let Crawford get the bad games out of his system. This deficit is more on him than anyone else. So many juicy rebounds.
-
Kings scored again. 3-0 Crawford can't be bad if Keith/Hammer are going to play like this.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) If he does it for another year without a long term deal, Arrieta has one foot out the door looking at a deal in the $35 million annually range. For sure. The Cubs front office clearly doesn't believe in him and it could definitely cost them.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) What do you mean by this? Forman was the one undermining him very publicly. Since Thibs left he has not said a word, while Forman very aggressively pushed the "Players all thrilled Thibs gone" stories. Yeah, the JVG stuff, but it always felt reactive starting with the Ron Adams stuff. Pretty sure the Bulls record this year will prove to everyone that he is a top 5 coach. I'm not sure I feel the same way about Thibs, but I completely agree that the Bulls media under Forman has been appalling and has made the whole situation a lot worse. I would also agree that the Adams firing was first blood, but I get the feeling the animosity privately had gone back some time.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Matt Spiegel @MattSpiegel670 2h2 hours ago (1/2) Blackhawks Penalty kill % in Stanley Cup winning seasons: 2010: 4th (85.3), 2013: 3rd (87.2), 2015: 10th (83.4). (2/2) Blackhawks PK % in non-Stanley Cup seasons : '11: 25th (79.2), '12: 27th (78.1), '14: 19th (81.5). This season: 26th (78.3). Oof. I'm not super worried about that stat, honestly. I'm more concerned that going through the western playoffs will make it really hard for any western conference team to win the Cup. The Hawks will probably be favored in any matchup in the west, but getting past any combination of LA, DAL, STL and so forth will make for a tough challenge when Washington, arguably the best team in hockey, is waiting in the SC finals having only beating the pulp out of a weak Eastern Conference.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) Yeah, while Hoiberg isn't proving to be a good hire, there was zero way to go into this season with Thibs as this teams coach. That bridge was burned in a manner that would make ISIS step back and go DAYUM! My sentiment exactly. Hoiberg was not a good hire, but firing Thibs was imperative. My concern is inaction by the Bulls ownership. The fact is, Hoiberg should be Gar Forman's last hire, and it is definitely not working. If I'm Reinsdorf, I full Virginia McCaskey this thing. Everybody should go from Pax down.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) Fastest Bulls coach to 100 wins. .647 winning percentage despite most of the time being without his best player. Consistently named a top 5 coach in the league by league execs. Severely flawed my ass. If he were the coach you thought he was, he wouldn't be unemployed this year. If he were that good of a coach, the Kings would have already made a move. "Execs" actions speak louder than their words. No top 5 coach would remain unemployed for an entire season. The fact is, they're scared of his awful minute management. Turn off ESPN for a while and use your brain.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) I'm rooting for Hawk to get all new organs, maybe some new eyeballs since he has some vision issue, probably a new skeleton and some fresh skin too. I'm in my early 30s and I hope to hear him for my next 40 years. This is the exact casual definition of masochism. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) As a head coach, he kinda did. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) Yea, Thibs took his first team to the ECF. He was pretty much a good coach overnight Thibs had success because he is an amazing defensive tactician. So good, in fact, that we miss the obvious problems in his coaching: He doesn't deal with locker room issues well at all and his offense is terrible. He belongs in the assistant coaching role as that's what he actually good at. Hoiberg isn't any better as far as any of us can tell, but Thibodeau was a severely flawed coach.

Spezza was the best player on the ice tonight. He's their real captain. Having an amazing year.
