  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) I'll take a 4-2 week to start the year. On to Minnesoata. More cold. The Sox have easily the worst schedule in baseball when it comes to locale of road games.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) And then was the number 1 overall draft pick. A better comp is Jamie Benn, who was picked 127th overall by Dallas. For him, however, skating ability was in question.
  3. Upper Deck is closed. No surprises there.
  4. I feel like you shouldn't be able to call it a miserable year until at least a month goes by. Just saying. He's had a miserable few games
  5. In what is probably the best situation for the Blackhawks, they play the Blues in the first round.
  6. It totally sucks that the situation was that bad, but it really needs to get warmer. The fan experience has always been awful in the cold
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) 1 Eaton 2 Abreu 3 Frazier That's what it should be. Get your three best hitters hitting 1-3. That would do nothing for Abreu. That means your 8 and 9 hitter set the table for Abreu. That doesn't make sense. He'll bat with the bases empty frequently.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) I think the Sox can delay it. I don't think it is the umpires call until they get the line up card or it is a last visit. The new boards are spectacular. The only problem is the pitch speed. It flashes so fast, if you are watching the game you can't see it before it disappears. I am sure that will be fixed. In the sun today was chilly but I have been in a lot worse. Those in the shade had to be shivering. Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately the Sox aren't in town next time I am.
  9. Who decides whether or not a game is delayed? I can see if they didn't open to let it thaw. Any thoughts on the new video boards?
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) Garcia's HR swing in slo-mo Beautiful. Hopefully he can find some kind of consistency.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 06:25 AM) Schwarber playing out of position was absolutely a factor in his injury. The Cubs took a risk by playing him there and now they (and especially him) are paying the price. Same thing with Avi. He's not really an outfielder and is risking getting hurt out there. Of course, it's not nearly the same loss to the team if it happens. The Cubs had no real choice if Schwarber continues to be so good on offense.
  12. Eaton has a higher OBP over the last five seasons, so I would leave him where he is. I would put Jackson 2 for sure.
  13. Wrong stinking thread.
  14. Great and important win! Now hit like that for Danks!
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Tied just like that. Should Frazier have had that single? No.
  16. So smart. Another amazing contract.
  17. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I'm missing it that sucks For a second there I was like "is this the national broadcast?" Sounds like we hired a winner.
  18. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) People who let their personality out in jobs like Harrelson are always going to be hated by some. Just like Dick Vitale, John Madden, Gus Johnson ect. Sure you can be the safe "khaki pants" speaking, which some here seem to prefer. But If I watching a white sox game I prefer "homer" announcers... If I'm looking for a different perspective I'll listen to the royals announcers or Twins announcers on foxsports KC,North, ect. Hawk isn't perfect.. but at least he doesn't take an innately boring game and make it more boring like 90% of the announcers do. Who hates Gus Johnson? The difference between Gus Johnson and Hawk and Vitale is Hawk and Vitale blatantly make things up. Gus Johnson is extremely listenable, whereas Hawk and Vitale are complete garbage at this stage in their career.
  19. Starlin is such a strange specimen. he's likely to reach a number of HOF-type milestones, and yet not have a shot at the HOF.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Everyone is so upset with Danks. The Sox scored 1 run, that means to win he would have had to give up 1 run or less which Sale, Quintana, and Rodon also failed to do. Teams lose baseball games. Even great ones lose more than 60. I find myself agreeing with this. Obviously, Danks wasn't good today, but Rodon got hammered and only gave up 2. It's baseball, weird things happen.
  21. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) But he cant field! Did you watch the playoffs last year and think he was going to figure it out? No, he was going to get himself hurt because he has zero (absolutely zero, its almost remarkable) spacial awareness in the OF. He would dive at nothing. There was talk going into the offseason of Theo trading hin for pitching, talk which quickly evaporated, I suspect for non-baseball reasons. Theo had to have seen this coming. You think they stockpiled all that OF depth just for yucks? No self-respecting GM would trade a bat like Schwarber for fear of him having to play the worst defensive position in football. Rowand nailed it: This narrative is silly. If your bat is as good as Schwarber's is, you can play outfield. Manny Ramirez played left field, for heaven's sake.
  22. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) The point of it is not to orient the entire offense around 1 player, but to try and create an environment where a few hits can be strung together. Point taken, but that lineup completely focuses on on-base and not power.
  23. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 07:08 PM) If I'm Schwarber or his agent I'm demanding the Cubs move him once healthy (aka this offseason). They really should have done it this offseason but didn't for obvious reasons. His risk of injury playing the field was exponentially higher than most players, lo and behold the first game the Cubs dont have the DH to fall back on he completely wrecks his knee. Left field is a suicide mission for Kyle Schwarber. This is actually crazy talk. The Cubs have to field him, it's in the rules, and he's not a catcher.
