  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) If he does it for another year without a long term deal, Arrieta has one foot out the door looking at a deal in the $35 million annually range. For sure. The Cubs front office clearly doesn't believe in him and it could definitely cost them.
  2. Svedberg gets 2 year extension
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) What do you mean by this? Forman was the one undermining him very publicly. Since Thibs left he has not said a word, while Forman very aggressively pushed the "Players all thrilled Thibs gone" stories. Yeah, the JVG stuff, but it always felt reactive starting with the Ron Adams stuff. Pretty sure the Bulls record this year will prove to everyone that he is a top 5 coach. I'm not sure I feel the same way about Thibs, but I completely agree that the Bulls media under Forman has been appalling and has made the whole situation a lot worse. I would also agree that the Adams firing was first blood, but I get the feeling the animosity privately had gone back some time.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Matt Spiegel ‏@MattSpiegel670 2h2 hours ago (1/2) Blackhawks Penalty kill % in Stanley Cup winning seasons: 2010: 4th (85.3), 2013: 3rd (87.2), 2015: 10th (83.4). (2/2) Blackhawks PK % in non-Stanley Cup seasons : '11: 25th (79.2), '12: 27th (78.1), '14: 19th (81.5). This season: 26th (78.3). Oof. I'm not super worried about that stat, honestly. I'm more concerned that going through the western playoffs will make it really hard for any western conference team to win the Cup. The Hawks will probably be favored in any matchup in the west, but getting past any combination of LA, DAL, STL and so forth will make for a tough challenge when Washington, arguably the best team in hockey, is waiting in the SC finals having only beating the pulp out of a weak Eastern Conference.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) Yeah, while Hoiberg isn't proving to be a good hire, there was zero way to go into this season with Thibs as this teams coach. That bridge was burned in a manner that would make ISIS step back and go DAYUM! My sentiment exactly. Hoiberg was not a good hire, but firing Thibs was imperative. My concern is inaction by the Bulls ownership. The fact is, Hoiberg should be Gar Forman's last hire, and it is definitely not working. If I'm Reinsdorf, I full Virginia McCaskey this thing. Everybody should go from Pax down.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) Fastest Bulls coach to 100 wins. .647 winning percentage despite most of the time being without his best player. Consistently named a top 5 coach in the league by league execs. Severely flawed my ass. If he were the coach you thought he was, he wouldn't be unemployed this year. If he were that good of a coach, the Kings would have already made a move. "Execs" actions speak louder than their words. No top 5 coach would remain unemployed for an entire season. The fact is, they're scared of his awful minute management. Turn off ESPN for a while and use your brain.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Is this what people say when they know absolutely nothing about basketball? How about instead of wasting space, you post something?
  8. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) What do they do with Avi if he keeps hitting like this?? Thank the devil for letting Avi sell his soul to be able to hit?
  9. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) I'm rooting for Hawk to get all new organs, maybe some new eyeballs since he has some vision issue, probably a new skeleton and some fresh skin too. I'm in my early 30s and I hope to hear him for my next 40 years. This is the exact casual definition of masochism.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) As a head coach, he kinda did. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) Yea, Thibs took his first team to the ECF. He was pretty much a good coach overnight Thibs had success because he is an amazing defensive tactician. So good, in fact, that we miss the obvious problems in his coaching: He doesn't deal with locker room issues well at all and his offense is terrible. He belongs in the assistant coaching role as that's what he actually good at. Hoiberg isn't any better as far as any of us can tell, but Thibodeau was a severely flawed coach.
  11. Spezza was the best player on the ice tonight. He's their real captain. Having an amazing year.
  12. It will be great to see a real broadcast for the first time since Hawk checked out a decade ago.
  13. Seabrook getting leveled left and right. Now he can't skate.
  14. Tuevo gets one back. 4-1
  15. Toews stoned by Lehtonin. Is this real life?
  16. Crawford to the bench.
  17. Benn scores. 4-0 Stars I want no piece of this in the Playoffs. That Pantera song is pretty great for goal scoring.
  18. Blackhawks don't look like they came to play, honestly.
  19. Seguin scores. 3-0 Stars.
  20. Seabrook is such a liability against fast teams. Crawford just bailed him out on what was a breakaway shortie.
  21. Johns would have been nice to have.
  22. Hawks should have the upper hand in this one. Dallas' thin defense is now paper thin with two guys out.
  23. Was at last night's game. It felt like SA was in control the whole game, but the Bulls with Butler have another target for Leonard to have to deal with. Either way, San Antonio is so stacked.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) Arrieta is looking for a 7 year extension. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/03/cubs...eal-length.html He's crazy. I get the feeling this year might break him.
  25. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 06:05 AM) Good insight linking McAllen (200 miles away), you also have to look at Laredo and all of northern Mexico. I'd like to know how many fans from Mexico San Diego pulls in. San Antonio does a terrific job supporting the Spurs (hard not to) and the other pro teams that are around. The Rangers are playing a couple games here in a few weeks. Obviously they would need a dome. San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the US. I'd have season tickets from the start. Unfortunately it seems like it would be a NL franchise. South San Antonio makes no sense. Austin is 80 miles from San Antonio, so a team is better off building on the TX130 between Austin and San Antonio or I-35 between Austin and San Antonio.
