QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=788864 Panarin the early leader for ROY. No surprise there with McDavid out. He clearly deserves it, but I wouldn't mind Q scrambling the lines a little more to increase depth. Right now, the team plays with about 1.5 lines. At least Hossa got dropped to the 3rd. He's been pretty bad on that first line.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) i am bored, no movement on the sox part, this circus trip seems to be more boring, that that is my point. as the season is getting longer and longer, the nhl is still playing the same amount of games. i am wondering it the powers to be from both the nhl and the players union have thought, maybe it is time to go with a 100 season and maybe tighten up the playoff. meaning 16 team makes the playoff. knock that down to 12. I don't see them doing it. Playoff appearance (theoretically) strengthen fanbases. Also, I think the PU wants to protect the players at all costs.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) Honestly, Panarin-Anisimov-Kane has outperformed Insert Player Here-Toews-Hossa. Panarin-Anisimov-Kane has outperformed all the lines by a long shot. It's a side effect of the salary cap. Role players either get younger or worse or both. So far, I want to believe it's just that role players are now younger and Hossa is just older, but I'm just not sure. It's hard to believe, but the Blackhawks are a one line team.

Every team goes through this, but apparently there is a real economic impact on the value of free agents in the NHL. The weak Canadian dollar is causing a plateau in the salary cap. As a result, it would appear potential free agents may be forced to sign with their own teams. http://www.startribune.com/nhl-short-takes/349149601/

Make no mistake, we're not making two mutually exclusive arguments. Yes, Patrick Kane is getting paid market value, however he's still overpaid relative to his contemporaries, but that's all part of the deal. Great players are the most valuable on their bridge contract. The rest of your post is spot on. While everyone is so happy that Panarin is outpacing Saad and Sharp in their new homes, the fact is, the Blackhawks are out two solid forward pieces. The first line looks pretty weak post-Saad. There's no surprise Q is trying to shift the lines.

I'd say "Fire Groce", but without a permanent AD, that's stupid.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) The Hawks are playing with seven 4th liners. Not good Kane and Toews are overpaid (Bowman didn't have a choice, of course). No one player is valuable enough to make that kind of money, let alone two. They play 7 4th liners because that's all they can afford to pay. The real issue is, as great as Kane is, he is one guy who plays on one line.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) I was with you 3 games ago, but Hossa now has 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 games. Hopefully it was just a slow start and not a sign of rapid aging. Obviously the last couple of games have been different, but hopefully you're right. Hossa has played better, but he just doesn't look like the same guy.

I have been of the opinion that if the Illini were middle of the pack, Groce would be fine. However, based on this start, he's likely gone. Of course, the person who will eventually show him the door isn't currently in the DIA.

It sucks to see Toews rot on a line with Hossa. Hossa doesn't look good and neither does the Toews line.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) Caught a little bit of the Illinois game, first I've seen this year. Except for the missed put-back at the end, that Finke looked pretty decent. Sorry, he seems like a good kid, but he's not the type of player that plays on a good team. So early to be putting my Alma Mater on the "pay no mind list", but they are just so hurt and not good.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Don't know if this post was before or after they fought, but, they fought. Which is good, because Toews isn't the player the Blackhawks need when he's constantly going at it with an opponent. Toews plays real hockey extremely well. He's no enforcer and he's significantly compromised when he's overly aggressive.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) Technically speaking he is the best QB the Bears have ever had. Nailed it. And based on this year, he's only going to further separate himself from the pack when the Bears keep him around.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 01:21 AM) Got my Nexus 6P today. It's probably the nicest-feeling device I've ever owned and it's weird since it's made by Huawei. I had no idea Huawei had the technology and craftsmanship to make a phone that can rival the iPhone and the HTC One in terms of build quality. I usually rotate phones out once a year, but I'm really liking the 6P more than I though I would. Came over from an iPhone 6. Google services are just so far superior to anything Apple offers.
