  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) Cubs are easy team to really dislike Why, because they're really good or because their fans suck?
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) All these disgusting sportslock and viagra commercials are bothering me. Since when did baseball attract the low brow audience? I expect that when I watch Raw. I would be really uncomfortable if I had young children.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) Big money and will be a bad deal for someone. 5/65 Not interested. He's a complete bigot.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) I am pretty sure Northwestern is the worst team ever ranked as high as 13 after week 5 in NCAA history. You're probably right, but a number of ND teams have been pretty bad for their ranks.
  5. That stupid stupid Bickell contract just continues to look stupid. He's a bad player with a bad contract who is untradeable.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Bears and Notre Dame - Same bye week. *Sigh* Big F1 race Sunday. Glad I'm not missing the Bears.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) Better to happen now than later. Lets the new guys develop a bit. Bring up Johns...oh
  8. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Good lord, Cubs fans are literally the dumbest people on Earth. Yes, I realize that World Series appearances for their team are rare, but $2500 for one ticket? That's a fortune. Unless someone is insanely rich and don't know what to do with their money, that's crazy. Let's be completely and totally honest here. If that C were an indian head, and the sport were Hockey, we would all look like idiots.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 11:14 PM) Do you guys agree with me the Sox will get the least amount of media EVER this upcoming spring training into the season? The Cubs have that young core and the rabid fanbase and just a few months after making the NLCS the media will be salivating to reporting on their spring training. And after acquiring Price? Meanwhile, we got the buzzkiller LaRoche and the offseason stories about how his hand hurt all year or something and he's bound to be a star again?? I do love Robin the personality and the player, but really White Sox?? How can you keep the guy after what happened this past season? My opinion is Hahn/Kenny/Jerry truly believe there's no difference maker like Madden out there and they are waiting on Girardi's firing by the Yanks after next season. Quinarvy beat me too it, but the White Sox post season will dictate the media coverage. Let's be completely honest here. When the Cubs AND White Sox are good, they get relatively even media attention. 2008 was a good season for both the Cubs and the White Sox in terms of exposure Back on topic, I'm always super critical of media when they favor teams. Local media has no idea how to cover the Blackhawks, so they default to rah, rah, rah. That is the wrong attitude. The media is the media is neutral. The Cubs are the Blackhawks darlings now.
  10. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) LOL. Spoken like a Sox fan from birth. In fairness, the organization has done enough most years to keep it interesting going into the season. It's just when you stop and look back the last nine years you realize how bad it has actually been.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 04:31 PM) I think they had a hearing over it. One team was dealing with street agents, I think the Cubs, while the Giants were dealing by text with what they believed to be their registered agent. Cubs win. Hopefully their last one for a while. I doubt it, but it will be extremely interesting to see how the Cubs move their glut of young talent. At some point, the game changes from "Develop the kids" to win now. They already have an AL team where they need a DH to really field their whole team, but soon pieces are going to have to move.
  12. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) My daughter and I made some Halloween decorations this weekend: Unhappy Family I have been somewhat critical, but that is great. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) Aren't you a Notre Dame fan? and [/thread] Of all the fanbases, Notre Dame's may be the most delusional.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) Supposedly the Cubs think they can play Heyward in CF. I don't know enough about NL players, but that Cubs outfield is pretty crowded. Is Heyward a Fowler replacement? I guess the OBP and OPS+ are a little better.
  14. Thoughts and prayers with him. Really puts everything into perspective.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) Starting Hammel is bullpen by committee anyway It's just brutal. But I understand Theo's feelings on this. This Cubs team is ahead of schedule.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) Yea if I'm the Cubs I'm taking full advantage of their rookie surplus, trade away guys you don't believe in (Baez most likely) and sign guys like Price now to make yourself legit contenders. They have like a 4-5 year window before any of their young hitters really require money, you have to spend on pitching now to capitalize. Plus, it's the Cubs, if they need money to pay players they will find it somewhere. Right, and even then, it's not like the Blackhawks where they HAD to move people. The Cubs can pay their guys if they want. My guess is they won't because that farm system is still bubbling with talent.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) Soxobama, lol good times. I still think lester and his stuff sucks. He bided time this year in the NL but that can only help so much for so long. I think that contract turns absolutely dreadful for them sooner then later. With 135 million and 5 years I'd get rid of him if anyone just wanted his contract. Not that they'd do that. He's just not a number one and probably not a great 2 either. But he played in Boston, so he's jesus.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) lmao AustinIllini doesnt post in all caps, dead giveaway I DON'T GET WHY PEOPLE DO THAT. GO NINERS DERP GIANTS
  19. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) We used to have another poster on here was keen on San Fran. Per chance do you have an affinity for classic cars? I don't care for the Giants much, but I despise the 9ers.
  20. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) convenient No one expects (or, in my case, cares) the Cubs to be in the playoffs when they plan a vacation in October. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) Damn. AustinIllini Voldemort-ing it up in here. Summoned by name. But yeah, he wins. Granted, that's if it was wine from vineyards. We went with Sonoma. It was a lot of fun and not quite as crazy as Napa.
  21. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Why is it that guys like Jordan4life and AustinIllini disappear from these threads when the Cubs start losing? I was in San Francisco drinking wine, hiking and not thinking about the children on this board nor the imminent implosion of the Cubs. "People called me out for wearing a White Sox jacket!" Of course they did! The White Sox are terrible. It's Bears season.
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) Average age of the Cubs: 28.3, they are actually the 11th oldest team in the MLB this year. If the Mets win tonight they'll be younger, with an average age of 27.9. The Sox are actually the 9th youngest team in the MLB, at 27.7. Correct, I was referring to starters.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) Is anyone else as sick of Eddie Vedder as I am? Ten and Vs. were good. Vitalogy was okay. Everything since is just meh.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 12:03 PM) He is Mr. Cubbie Chubby post after post after post. I'm assuming you just cloud your judgement with blind fanaticism. I suggest you get over the Cubs. There is no comp to a team that gets the the LCS with an average player age of under 25 years old. The George Bret Royals, the Big Red machine of the 1970s come close, but they were significantly older on average. The Cubs are going to be good for a long time. For your own mental and emotional faculties, I suggest you get over it real quick.
  25. This board is going to be ten years of misery. The Cubs are going to win for a long time. They're way ahead of schedule.
