  1. I'll take either, but I think the White Sox have a positive history with Cuban players and might have an easier time convincing Cespedes.
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) That Sharp trade looks really bad now. Hopefully Goose is up permanently now. Scuderi is slow as molasses. Horrible. You get a bad defenseman in exchange for your best prospect, trade him for a worse defenseman. Jim Nill completely exploited Stan Bowman.
  3. This is the kind of trade you make when no other GM is going to help you out. Everyone knows where the Blackhawks are weak. No GM in this conference, let alone the rest of the NHL is actually going to help the Blackhawks solve their defensive issues without some massive return.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Guys, having Eaton allows us to have Laroche, don't forget that. /thread
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) Contracts are the biggest parts of trades and signings anymore. It isn't about player comparision. I think everyone here knows Heyward is the better player, but if you have $23 million to spend, you are better off with Eaton and whatever else you can get with the balance. This is wrong. There's no limit to how much money teams can spend, so the Heyward money is play money. It's all about player value. Teams can sign guys and sit them if they want.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Ofcourse they get a ton of credit. But if we're doing about player comparisons I'm not taking Eaton over Jason Heyward. I think comparing their contract status is silly. The circumstances are completely different for each player. Agreed. This is a reasonable, non-homer answer. In other sports with caps, contract status matters. Both the White Sox and the Cubs have enough money and there's no salary cap. You take Heyward.
  7. The right answer is Heyward, but I still like Eaton a lot.
  8. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) Why not? Because of the TV deals and attendance? You watch how that suffers the next couple of years as the cubs continue in this direction. Because Chicago is big enough to support two teams. There isn't an obviously better TV market that needs a team. And I get called out for being critical of the White Sox. They belong in Chicago.
  9. 3-0 Nashville with three minutes left in the first
  10. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) OK, when he starts beating his wife and driving drunk, somebdy PM me so I can get worked up about it. That's not enough to anger sports fans.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) It was never in doubt. If only the rest of the league played the same way, it would be the early 80's all over again! If I were a real Stars fan, i'd be frustrated. As someone who only subscribes to the Blackhawks and gets the Stars for free, they're a lot of fun. They're just build like a first round exit.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) Stars gonna Stars. 4-0 quickly becomes 5-5 Sharp scores. Stars win 6-5 in regulation. 21-5-2 on the season.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) Teuvo with a nice game When he's good, he's special. Good to see him catch fire.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Did that really happen...? Wow. If it did, tough. There are so many layers representing the players, this should never actually happen. It's clear both parties miss each other.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) Wouldn't mind it. Bickell has been tearing it up in the minors. The Blackhawks look like they need some kind of infusion of something. Maybe Bickell has what the team needs.
  16. JJ was good, but I echo both of the blacked out sentiments. Marvel is onto a good thing with their Netflix partnerships. Considering the budget, the DD and JJ efforts are IMO superior to anything else Marvel studios is doing.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 04:12 AM) I saw this and I listened to whatever song autoplayed on their website. I didn't find it very interesting, but I haven't really liked any FF tunes for a while now. It is indeed possible to not like free unexpected music. I haaaaaaaated that album U2 dumped onto my iTunes without my knowledge or consent. Blecch. You get the impression from Dave Grohl that Sonic Highways in general was a kind of "phone it in" thing. They toured all over the country and wrote cheap songs that sound like all their other songs about their experiences. It's too bad, too. Wasting Light was one of their better efforts in some time.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) Holy Sh*t! A new 3 hour episode of Luther on Dec 17. Guess it aired in England as two separate episodes but BBC America is airing it as one big episode. I heard no Ruth Wilson. A bit disappointing, as she was brilliant in the show (and is also pretty good in season 1 of "The Affair").
  19. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) R.I.P. Robert Loggia. Feech La Manna RIP
  20. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) Two guys threw the flag.....two guys saw it wrong. On that penalty both guys assumed they saw something that they did not. It did look clear on tv but they need to see it to throw and neither could have seen it as it was not there. It looked 100% like a facemask in real time. It was the right call.
  21. Cubs with a Kenny Williams move. "I always wanted John Lackey on my team"
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) This probably would have come up in the Dallas Cowboys new stadium thing. I'm pretty sure if the punt (main concern) hit the scoreboard it was live. It's still kind of up in the air. The only time the scoreboard has been hit AFAIK was on a punt, and the ruling on the field was "rekick". I don't know what to do about throwing, though, because it doesn't seem like it should just be a replay. Part of me thinks it should be a delay of game penalty, an intentional grounding penalty, or an incomplete pass.
  23. QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) The Edmonton Oilers championship era and the Lemieux/Jagr Penguins era were the most fun hockey has ever been in my opinion. Run and gun, last goal wins. That's the hockey I liked. Right. The perception is Dallas doesn't defend at all. I understand most of us can't watch them, but Dallas scores like crazy but can't hold a lead to save their lives. They'll be up 3 going into the third and still lose. Such a crazy brand of hockey.
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) The market for Sale would be an all time high. Ya you could go spend the fortune on someone like Price but Sale is a great young LHP under reasonable control and hitting his prime. Unfortunately, while the value of Sale is sky high, the perceived value of prospects now is ridiculous thanks to recent success out of Houston, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh. No team likely feels they can reasonably afford a Sale trade. The Sox would have to come down and I'm not sure I would want them to.
  25. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) Derrick Rose sucks now. The Bulls aren't winning a title. They'll never do this but they should take a step back this year. Gasol has stated that he is opting out after the the season (as he should). In my opinion, the Bulls should deal him. They should trade Noah as well. I know that leaves them pretty thin but it doesn't really matter and I'd rather obtain assets now than get nothing in the offseason. This would be the best course of action for now and the future of the franchise which is why they'll never ever do it. Good post. The problem is, the Bulls need to get a lot worse before they can compete for a championship. Let Rose, Noah walk, trade Pau and we're getting somewhere. This Bulls team is just good enough to mess up their draft pick feeding off the Eastern conference.
