So I shouldn't be mad that MLB.tv is completely useless this evening?

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) - Abreu wins Batting title - Sale wins Cy - Danks gets traded in mid-June - Matt Davidson gets called up in June - Micah bats for .285 - Abreu hits 27 HRs, Avi for 22, LaRoche for 22, Melky for 15, Ramirez for 15 - Robertson winds up with 49 saves - Ventura appears less s***ty - We end the year with a deep post-season run and talks of a Sale-Shark-Q-Buehrle-Rodon rotation for '16 - Sox acquire Wieters at the deadline for Danish, Flowers, Anderson, and Beck -Sox win '16-'19 World Series That's a bold prediction right there.

How do the White Sox stack up - payroll vs MLB
Bananarchy replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 06:46 AM) For pete's sake what is wrong with some of you and your memory? It's like you all forget the fact that we HAD a core from 2000-2013. We had really good players! It just didn't work out! "KW consistently sold the farm blah blah". Well no s***! We had our superstars and we had a shot to win the division every year! We looked damn good on paper every year! Why not just admit that TCQ and JFP's freak injuries spoiled everything? Why not just admit that Adam Dunn crumbling out of nowhere spoiled years. It looked good on paper. We had superstars at key positions. This Hawk Harrelson type of argument doesn't work for me and it shouldn't work for you. The White Sox did not have a chance to win every year. There was always some ungodly hole that couldn't be filled in free agency with the corpse formerly known as Ken Griffey Jr. When you change general managers, from a baseball standpoint, you change regimes. Period. What Rick Hahn wants, Rick Hahn gets. It is a totally new regime. Also, you can't expect to "win every year" and not draft well. Go back and look at Williams' draft history. Chris Sale and Gio Gonzalez are boats in a sea of bad. Drafting Chris Sale was great, and Kenny Williams is a good evaluator of talent, but Rick Hahn signed him to his current contract, which is so team friendly for a player of his age and talent. If you can't tell this team is so much differently run under Rick Hahn, I can't help you. Maybe watch more games? -
Based on Micah Johnson's play, the White Sox will cut Gordon Beckham. Flowers won't be the number one catcher on the roster.

How do the White Sox stack up - payroll vs MLB

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) "I think the White Sox just make smarter business decisions than most teams." Really? And how do you arrive at this conclusion? Based on the club's overall success? The Sox have one playoff appearance in the last DECADE since the WS in '05, and that appearance lasted all of one minute. And the 24 years prior to '05, this current Sox ownership saw their team reach the postseason a measly three times, combining for just three wins in those appearances. Real "smarter business decisions" contributing to that unheralded record, I must say. And as of today, this supposed record of "smarter business decisions" has this big market team almost dead last in the Majors in attendance and TV ratings as we speak. Not to mention, but a team payroll going into this season almost identical to that of the Kansas City Royals AND Minnesota Twins, and less than that of the Reds, Blue Jays, Mariners, AND former Montreal Expos, the Nationals. But god are we "smart", we managed to get Sale and Abreu to sign for under market. Whoopie...for the investors!! Not so much for we, the fans. Stop living in the past. The current Sox organization is brilliant. The core of the team is locked up in team friendly contracts going forward. Rick Hahn isn't just smart, he's brilliant. It was Kenny Williams who continually sold his soul trying to "win now". -
Samardzija said he's not looking for "top dollar'' in

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 02:55 PM) Absolutely agree Dick. JS has made it clear since last summer that going to FA is his goal and is looking forward to it. This is Jeff's one chance of getting that big payday contract so anyone thinking JS will pass on that due to his White Sox fandom is delusional and ignoring everything he has said over the last year or so. I did not like the idea of trading for JS to begin with, even before the trade, but I give him credit for being consistent with his words. If an extension never happens, fans have nobody to blame but their self for getting their hopes up in the first place. You nailed it. Samardzija is a professional baseball player. He's not a fan anymore. He plays for the team that pays him and the money and opportunity to win is what will land him. -
Bleacher Report predicts 87-75 second wild card spot

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Didn't Peavy prefer Flowers to A.J. so Tyler was Jake's guy? I believe so. -

They probably made Soto the starter because Flowers is terrible and Soto was once good a long time ago on the other side of town. 87 wins would be excellent. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Bonifacio's defense has been horrible this spring It's just unacceptable. Start the Micah Johnson era, please.

Abreu Top Five candidate to be MLB leading HR hitter
Bananarchy replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/11470...41872-658620023 Nobody else (Cabrera, LaRoche, A.Garcia) in current consideration on the Sox side. 32 projected....I know, it's kind of a "duh" inclusion with Jose, but there are a lot of posters who believe his HR numbers will be down in the mid to possibly high 20's this season. Dude is 4-1 to be MVP, second only the Mike Trout. I expect huge things. -
If he were under on HRs, I wouldn't care, but I think over on all three. Also, OBP is so much more important than BA, but we all knew that, already.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) If he sucks for some reason then the awkwardness of this may even trump The Outfield song. If he's awesome then I hope we hold nothing back and play the Jaws music while the other team takes BP and before their half of the inning. Gordon Beckham's struggles have destroyed that song for me. Very sad.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) Sadly, it appears Beckham's contract is of the guaranteed MLB variety. So I don't see the team throwing away $2M. He may end up gone during the season if he's bad enough though. Despite what Hawk thinks, I believe there is a significant chance Beckham doesn't make it to September. He's lucky Micah Johnson's fielding isn't quite there.

Only one player has started opening day for the Sox and Cubs.

It's a shame Cubans have to do this. What a fantastic read. -
Surkamp on trading block, roster moves coming
Bananarchy replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) Call me crazy, but I'd rather have Surkamp at what he's making than Zach Duke with his contract. I still don't understand that contract. Not too excited about Zach Duke, either. A career NL pitcher who was almost run out of the league? Sounds like a multi-year deal. -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 12:17 AM) Starting with Mondays game, every Cactus league game until the season starts will be viewable either on TV or webcast. About darn time. My body is ready. -
QUOTE (Lillian @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) Another 3 at bats for Avi, with no strike outs. That's 1 SO in 35 at bat, on the Spring. I'm focusing on that stat, as I regard Garcia as a key player for our offense. If he hits, the Sox could score a lot of runs. I love the .400 average, but the contact rate is even more impressive. Not a bad idea. I was listening, and it sounded like he had a hard line out to second. Need him to be good this season.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 21, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) Just reviewed the Sale contract and you're right. For some reason I thought his two option years were quite expensive but I was wrong. The last option is only $13.5M, which is beyond ridiculous. It's a silly good contract. Obviously, Sale's health is a potential concern, but Hahn managed to capitalize on that perception and sign him to a team friendly contract.

He's going to be a solid outfielder for the Cubs. Exciting time for Chicago baseball.

It drives me crazy that the Stars played the Blackhawks so well yet are still pretty much out of it. Yeah.. I'm a Stars fan. Congrats, you have met one. -
Blacked out. I swear, any game in Minnesota is blacked out in Austin. What a joke. Oh, never mind. Thought it was televised. Apparently not.

Even the NY Times has noticed the Sox bullpen spending
Bananarchy replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It has been such a weak spot on this team for a number of seasons, I'm so glad Rick decided to deal with it. Love that baseball doesn't have a salary cap to combat.
