  1. The fans cannot count on a quality product on the field. Any year, it seems the Sox will be fighting to stay out of the basement. Winning in consecutive seasons will build the fanbase.
  2. To sum up thread: Sale is paid to do his job, it sucks he doesn't get help, but wins for a pitcher don't really matter. The White Sox cannot possibly win a trade with Sale in it, so he's untradeable.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) The problem is any GM who gives up that much young talent and then Sale pitches for only a year or two before going down with an elbow or shoulder injury is risking his career...ending up like the Vikings' GM who gave up the future by dealing for Herschel Walker. Chris Sale's contract is such that the risk of shoulder injury is mostly negated by how team friendly the contract is.
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) Well, I'm sorry, but they are going to have to give a "real deal" to get Chris Sale. Maybe 3-4 real deals. I could see two "real deals", but I doubt the White Sox ever get the package they want .
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Bryant, Soler, Schwarber, Castro, and Almora at a minimum. Rizzo and Russel for Sale.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) Schwarber / Russell / McKinney/ a couple pitchers That would probably do it for me. Problem is, if I'm the Cubs, the bold is a deal breaker. Russell is the read deal and Baez looks like a flop.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) The one guy they aren't going to give up. You know which name that is. That's a great trade for both teams, but from a marketing perspective, the Cubs can't pull it off. But I agree with you. That's why you don't move a staff Ace. Anything less than Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, or Schwarber and Russel is too little.
  8. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Hahn should look into trading him this offseason. I don't think he should trade Sale, but he should see what kind of offers he gets. After 2016, if the Sox are still staffed by corpses with hats, then yeah, trade him. What can you possibly get? If the Cubs came calling for Sale, what would you want in return? They have a ton of talent.
  9. Chris Sale signed his contract. The end. He's not really moveable because 1) teams overvalue their prospects 2) Sox would ask for an enormous amount of young talent in return for the 3rd pitcher in a century to have 12 Ks in 5 straight games.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) I think we should try to fire both. All the players, GM, and coaching staff. I was on the fence about Hahn earlier on, but if the only way the rest of everybody gets fired is to include Hahn, so be it. bring in a baseball consultant and hire a new GM. The whole department of baseball operations is garbage.
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) One thing that I've noticed...what we think is fair and what we've been getting from certain trades is not the same. We normally get much less than expected. Part of the reason why I'm extremely resistant to trading Sale. This is exactly why Sale will be here for the remainder of his contract.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) The asking price remains "a player the team will not give up." That's kind of what I figured. Teams overvalue their prospects and we have a staff Ace. yikes.
  13. So, how much do we all think we can get for Sale? It sucks to be at this point, but we won't be good until the end of Sale's contract.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Avi is one of the last players I would list as one of the problems. All the more reason to move him. It's time to rebuild a la Cubs and Astros.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) not really. the last big blow up the fans had on the sox was over 12+yrs. i think. they don't dig it deeper, they just show a little camouflage paint job and complain about the fans not coming out to support them and why should they continue this. BS. all the time making money. You clearly have no idea how bad it can get. Miami, Houston (prior to this revival season) are proof it can ALWAYS get worse. Always. At least Houston had a grander plan, much like the Cubs. This White Sox team is a disaster and it is getting worse EVERY season. Your franchise is either getting better or worse. There is no "Staying the same"
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) its been like that for yrs... what makes this go around different??? Nothing. They just keep digging deeper. Each year, the situation gets worse.
  17. If Eaton actually is terrible, we can blame his contract on Hahn, but the players on this team have underperformed and our manager has lost us games. Plain and simple. If you want to put the fact that Hahn extended Robin on Hahn, fine. But Rick put a talented team together for Ventura et al to screw up.
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ May 3, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) how will he run this franchise into the ground?? he is making tons of money, when he is doing the same thing. this franchise should have won more ws. but.... oh well i will not go into a rant. It is absolutely happening right now. What you see on TV is a franchise being run into the ground.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:33 PM) Unfortunately, we're dealing with the reality of our organization on this one. Ventura really got through to people for one year, maybe we can get that magic again. In fairness, Maddon did coach at TB for some time, so it's possible Rick could find a smart guy to manage the White Sox.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:20 PM) If he challenged and lost, then the Sox lost on another bad call they couldn't challenge, if it came out the replay guys told him the tag was clearly missed, Robin would get blasted. This is the worst, most twisted defense of a bad manager. If this is what you have to do to defend Robin, he should already be out the door.
  21. QUOTE (OnlyGillis @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) One word for Ventura ... FRIGHTENING !! It's not cute anymore. He has played a major part in two losses. Good managers don't cost you games.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) I didn't even know you can get out of market channels like that. I already pay $150 a month for Gigabit internet + Cable. Yeah, UVerse's U-450 package includes all the sports channels including CSNC, but obviously all the games are blacked out. For me, I just bought MLB.tv with the money I saved on moving down to the U-200 package. Also, I don't have to listen to Hawks nonsense, either.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) I really want to watch this, but I don't get CSNC in Austin. I got it on UVerse in Austin for about a year. Then one day, I looked at my Cable bill. Nope. Sidebar: I really hope this 05 team doesn't become the '85 Bears. Hopefully Rick and Company win another one soon.
