  1. QUOTE (Jake @ May 12, 2014 -> 10:43 PM) Use of the word "bust" is debatable. Being bad for a month and some change isn't quite "bust" level, especially given their ages and experience levels. Johnson, in particular, has had a mysterious loss of velocity that I hope is resolved sooner rather than later, even if that means diagnosing him with an injury. Just diagnose him with an elbow injury and Tommy John Surgery.... everyone's doing it... 2014 "The year of Tommy John surgery" Latest victim... Marlins ace right handed pitcher
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2014 -> 11:10 PM) That article in the Daily Herald about how Scott Carroll was currently our best pitcher must have fired up the serpiente azul. Baserunning and execution with runners on 3rd and less than 2 outs. Terrible. Semien=CLUTCH...but it's time for him to go back down to Charlotte and work on his contact rates. That said, if Beckham's hitting .150-.175 in another month, they might just go ahead and release him, Mitchell and Walker the same day for a symbolic purging of the past. The outfield's going to drive us crazy until a healthy Eaton comes back. GREAT JOB BY THE BULLPEN, though. Our greatest weakness has become our strength....isn't that a line from Superman or Spider-Man, haha? You let Semien ride it out and take his lumps. Without his clutch hits this season, how many more games would sox be below 500? At the very best Beckham hits 270 close to deadline and what will his power numbers be? Sox will ride out Beckham but front office after awhile might need to realize they wont get much maybe class a ball player c prospect or a 4 a ball player.
  3. QUOTE (Tex @ May 5, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) Always cool when someone can remember a game that was played years ago in such detail. I guess I was alsways killing too many brain cells to remember Any Sox fan could kill all their brain cells,, but would never forget the basket shot to sweep the lovable losers.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2014 -> 08:38 AM) Of course they do. If you have ever been to a Cubs/Sox game at Wrigley, when the Cubs win it is like they have just won the WS in there. Cubs fans will always tell you Sox fans care more about it than they do, but that is totally bunk. One of my greatest moments was at Wrigley with 2 Cubs fans and another Sox fan to even it out, with 2 outs in the 9th. Cubs fans standing and cheering, Dempster closing, AJP at the plate....you can put it on the board, Sox lead. Not only did the Sox take the lead, but it was AJ who did it. It couldn't have been more perfect. I was 10 years old in 1997 went with my dad and bro, went to all 3 games was in upper tank, Jamie Navarro pitched first game against Cubs at Comiskey Park. He got blasted because he was terrible and Kevin Foster was the opposing pitcher. The White Sox won the next two Wilson Alvarez pitched in one of the next two games and then i wanna say either Danny Darwin or Kevin Tapani pitched in the other W for the Sox. My best moment being at sox cubs game was at Wrigley in 1999, there was a loooooong rain delay probably 3 hours. When the game resumed maybe a thousand people in the stadium or less. Once again me and my dad and bro moved down behind or 6 rows behind Sox dugout when game resumed the game i believe went in extra innings and Mike "Slappy" Caruso hit a basket shot homer to beat the Cubs off Rick Aguilera for the sweep! That is also Konerkos favorite moment of the series and Barret punching AJ. We need to win 3 outta 4 against the Northside embarrassment for me to be satisfied from this series. Go Sox!!!
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2014 -> 07:08 AM) They could sell tickets for a dollar and Sox fans would still b**** about how expensive tickets are. Agreed, White Sox ticket prices really cannot get any lower in the foreseeable future, if anything they will eventually go back up if the Sox start winning again, which we all want to see in upcoming seasons. Chicago is the 3rd largest market in the country, and the prices are dirt cheap mostly to attend a game. No one forces you to to eat at the ballpark. Eat at home, outside the stadium, tailgate etc. Me and my dad always come up from Iowa, get there early eat at Bridgeport Cafe down a few blocks now called something else. Chicago has great transportation for most fans in the Chicago to attend a sox game, even though sox lost 99 games last season still disappointing how small crowds have been, but not surprising at all, still early, hopefully they can pick up attendance a little bit more even after the 2 games at cell against the cubs. What is your guys guess on attendance for the 2 games at the cell against the cubs, series has lost its juice and was in low 30's last year and year before that, could it get lower, could we see a sox cubs game total attendence under 30,000 and high 20's? I still see total tickets sold.. 32, 34 k each game, but would not completely surprise me if under that amount each game.
  6. QUOTE (onedog#1 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 02:52 PM) Are they charging premium prices for all tickets for this game? Like a few years back against the dodgers during a nice weather july game? I do not know if they do that much anymore, but if they tried to do it this year in April against a WS team, it still does not matter cold night and a week night. The Cubs games should not even be premium games, because the interest is not their anymore and once again they are doing week night games. At least they could do Thursday,Friday,Saturday, and Sunday. Not sure if they are charging extra for 2 games at the cell for that series or not though I also feel like fans should be able to use their redemption code for this series if they want too, if they are really closing the uppder deck for tonight or even the whole series, it is silly to not let fans use their redemption code for this game. I know they are trying to run a business and profit and don't want discounted tickets for this series, but better to get a little more fans into the game who might spend a little money while there.

  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 05:56 PM) After 14 games you say this? I remember hw Josh Fields was anointed as the next 3Bman of the future based on half a year stats and where did he go? I recall that season, Sox were out of it early that year losing 90 games, their was no pressure on Fields. I also recall he could not line up a 90 mph pitch right down middle and was late on them, not to good with the glove either. He hit off speed pitches that were up, and had a hitch in his swing. Simeon is not Josh Fields, Siemon better base runner, takes pitches, better defender, and doing farily decent to start of the season. Regardless of how things go rest of the season, it is going to be interesting whether trades to Alexi, Beckham and company or by some chance the Sox hang around in late June early July. Hahn seems to be a smart man i dont think he gets carried away if sox are somehow atleast contention by then, he wont change the plan in the directions he wants the franchise to go to be a consistent winner.
  9. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) This is a serious question: Has Downs had a clean inning all year -- spring training included? If he has, it's one at the most. Lots of signs that he doesn't have it any more. Jones coming back should help. Hopefully Bellasario gets better. Leury Garcia has been a disappointment, especially with the glove. Have to figure Nieto will struggle quite a long time. Can't remember many guys who have jumped from A ball to the bigs, especially a catcher. Have to think he'd be better served by playing every day in the minors, but Hahn must have gotten firm word from the Nationals that they were going to buy him back for $25,000 or ask for something outrageous in a trade. Scott Downs, 39 years old, ex cub enough said
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) Ticketmaster, use ACADEMY as the code, bleachers and upper box are $14, lower reserved $16, and lower box $29. Ended up getting $20 seats by the foul pole, way better then i expected there. Got my sox fleece blanket was as advertised, AWESOME. 6 runs should of won this game, Paulino was absolutely garbage, would rather see Rienzo pitching. Quite disappointed they automatically gave him a spot in the rotation after having arm problems not pitching, thats not how it works, he throws fairly hard but does not throw enough strikes and indians batters lined up his pitches pretty good when he did get it over the plate, what makes it worse.. he is our #2 starter beause they want to break up the lefties which is BS. 1-5 should be your best starters going, would of took the series yesterday if it was lined up the right way with Q being our #2.
  11. Going to Saturdays game to see the Sox and get that nice Sox fleece blanket. Going with dad and his friend, we were going to get there about 10 AM and go to box office window to get outfield seat, I know the Sox tickets are usually not a problem at all, but wanted to sit in outfield mid rowish right center or even by sox bullpen, will it be tough to find good seats in that area for the game? I assume at least 20,000 tickets sold with maybe 25,000 sold tops or slightly more. Suppose to be a nice day not all that cold. Looking for some info was trying to scope ticket master through Sox site to get a look whats available but at this current time cant sell tickets online? Heading from Clinton, IA where i am at and my dads buddy, and my dad driving hear from SE Iowa, yes there are a few intelligent people in Iowa who are not cub fans. Just looking for a little info, love the outfield seats! Last time I sat out there in right center in 2012 about halfway up, and great seats. Unfortunately Sox got pounded with their ace Sale on the mound against the D Rays in the last week of the season where the Sox were one game behind Tigers before that game started, the day the Sox season died. On a good note though, Abreu looks like a beast! PS- I wish we were not seeing Paulino pitch that day, hopefully he can keep it under 85-90 pitches going into the 5th.
  12. Ride it out with beckham this year, this has been said before last year, but this truely is make or break year for Beckham with the sox.
  13. I know things have been quiet and winter minter meetings are no for another week or two.. What do you think will possibly go down at the winter meetings? Alot of names have been thrown around in discussion, i do think it will be quite interesting with a key player or two getting traded. It seems the winter meetings have taking too long to get here and ready for the process to begin.
  14. i wonder if their is a sleeper in this deal.. Alexi Rameriez? a possible package of Rameriez and floyd both to some one team or 3 way deal. I know we dont have a backup for Rameriez at short, but possibly get one back in a deal, i don't know if they would do it.. but im just saying it would not shock me with Alexi. A good amount of money of the payroll to fill it with a 3rd b,ss,maybe a reliever and trade Thornton also being a trade chip. The sox have lots of options and trade chips i think where lot of teams need pitching or a bullpen arm. Sox have a guy like Thornton or Crain they could possibly move and Floyd in the rotation with whispers of santiago or Q possibly trade chips too. Then hearing other guys like de aza beckham and viciedo. Strange to see those included with all of them not tallying lot of money they are getting paid. With many routes the sox could go, could be real interesting offseason in next couple weeks or in december. Also, their is no rush to trade rios under contract if he continues produce this upcoming year could possibly deal at deadline whether in the race or out of it, i understand his value at a all time high being with the sox, but i feel he can continue being solid this upcoming year more teams might bite being in contention and a little less off his salary. I feel Dunn will be here and Konerko is staying put as well. 3b is the wild card.. through a trade, bringing youk back, free agent.. or maybe carlos sanchez
