QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 04:53 AM) I think Verlander has more potential than Miller, but yes... between Miller/Bonderman/Verlander if the Tigers can control all 3 of those they could be terrorizing us for a long time. Unfortunately, Danks/Gonzalez/Broadway doesn't really match up with that.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 11:23 PM) Want me to spread some gossip (that's true, because I was there in Nashville) about Ms. Kellie? Ugh. I won't. Nevermind. /shakes fist SPREAD IT!!!

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) I thought the refusal to make the deal made sense. If you recall, they basically made an open promise to provide salt in the future as part of the deal. When they saw hancuffs and blood all over a mattress, they bailed. If it were a one-time deal, I could see your reasoning. But considering it was based on vague future promises, I think they thought they were getting into bed (no pun intended) with the wrong people. It fits the character of the former Mayor. I thought the episode opened up a lot of possibilites for future plot lines with the information about what is going on in the outside world and with the insuination that Hawkins "girlfriend" is about to stab him in the back. I suppose it's useless to question the contents of a television show, but it's something which bugged me because of what the generator meant. If I were responsible for finding the one piece of equipment which may help my town through winter, what some odd individual does with mattresses and handcuffs is none of my business. There's no telling what they were used for -- perhaps theives or prisoners were kept there. No worse than hanging someone in a public square. Although, for the sake of drama, having the elementary school teacher traveling to a factory for the generator is definitely more interesting. I did enjoy how the news bulletins from across America were posted in the trading post. And how anarchy has developed within the government. I wish I had recorded the episode so I could easily view some of the messages. I believe Chicago had, "violence continues." One, perhaps New York, mentioned how the "power grid was still down." Hawkins is definitely being led into a trap. I'm sure he knows it as well. While I initially thought more of devotion to the terrorist acts, after watching last week's episode he obviously balked at the idea of detonating a bomb in Columbus. The former girlfriend was likely sent to retrieve it. Should be interesting to see what happens between this, and whatever crazy crap Jake and company are up to.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) While I'm hoping for great, I'm definitely prepared for awful. If Buehrle doesn't bounce back we're toast. Javy is going to be Javy and with any luck, maybe a little better than he was last year. I'm not looking for miraculous turnarounds from that guy. The 5th spot is a huge, gaping question mark. Could work out fine. Could be a disaster a la Danny Wrong. When Buehrle suggests, "it's frustrating when you miss your spots and players hit them," as he did after his start, it's difficult to ignore. Doesn't sound like someone taking spring training lightly. Here's a quote printed on the right-hand box of the Joe Cowley article from yesterday: It's quotes such as these which worry me. Why would it be necessary to change philosophy if his second half states were a fluke; considering all the previous success? I personally believe Mark's velocity has yet to return, and he knows it. Garland atleast admitted he threw only fastballs, but from Buehrle, it sounded as if he were actually trying -- and Rockies' hitters were tagging him. I know I'll be watching his spring traning carefully. It really wouldn't have been an issue if Buehrle himself weren't the one concerned.

QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) I see Chris Young is 12th I love their analysis. Hopefully within the next several seasons someone will say this about a prospect Williams obtained over the offseason.

I hope the comparisons to Buehrle immediately end with velocity.

And that's a White Sox loser........x2. Let's see how quickly this thread is locked and thrown into the archives. Yesterday's was moved in near record pace. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) I'm fairly surprised Danks is that low. He was 59th in the 2006 edition, which means he only jumped a couple spots despite moving a year closer to the big leagues. BA must have soured on him somewhat. Or the development of 55 players exceeded that of Danks. Looking over his statistics, I would hardly be overwhelmed without knowledge of his age compared to pitchers within the league, or adjustments made within various level (A,AA). Hopefully, our advanced scouts have absolute certaintly he'll be equal or greater than McCarthy.......

What's the final score against Colorado? It's currently 8-5 Arizona entering the 9th inning. -

Well, neither Broadway or Vazquez pitched well. When Lance inherited Vazquez's bases loaded mess he sure didn't help himself much, although I doubt Javier would have fared much better. Now Sisco can't find the strikezone, LOL -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 02:02 AM) Last year wasn't a breakout season for him? If we're judging based upon improvement from previous seasons, 2003-2004 was a more significant improvement than 2005-2006. What I mean in breakout season with Bonderman is compiling statistics which place him within the Top 5 pitchers in baseball. It's certaintly possible based upon his pure stuff, as well as proof he's improved every season in the majors.

QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 12:57 AM) if the Sox finish 13 games behind the tigers like they say, i'll buy an effing bonderman jersey May be a good investment. I heard he's been tinkering with a changeup, and from accounts of teammates it's rather effective. People have been predicting a breakout season from him for years. I wouldn't doubt it for this season.

Not a fan of yesterday's episode. Probably the worst they've shown thus far. One part, in particular, stood out. I literally yelled at my TV when they resisted paying for a vital generator because mattresses were lined in the back next to handcuffs. WHO CARES? The ignorance of the father to suggest, "we're not supporting that." It was just too cheesy for me to take. I also hope the part where the guy mentions lights directing him to a refugee camp has has nothing to do with the supernatural. That is, unless the 'supernatural' has to do with flesh eating zombies. That'd be an interesting twist to Jericho.

HA, Vazquez vs. Young. It would only be appropriate if he took us deep. Twice. -

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Yes go for it. Relax, I meant nothing by the comment. I don't like losing big even in a crappy pre-season game either. But let it go, I have. But this is what I mean -- let what go? I'm not holding onto anything; just commenting on the game. This is what people don't seem to be able understand on occasion. Suggesting, "wow, 11-3 -- we're getting killed," isn't anything more than that. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) I guess Garland is hitting his spots too. Christ someone is going to get hurt out there.....call it a day already. Rockies pitchers don't seem to have much of a problem. -

So, am I allowed to suggest Garland and Buehrle have pitched poorly yet without people believing, somehow, it translates to "the season is over"? -

I don't know one person who, within this thread, overreacted. Buehrle pitched poorly.......people say he pitched poorly. Garland didn't do well.........people said as much. No one's making grand generalizations. -

Garland now giving it up as well. I'd really like to believe both pitchers aren't feeling 'loose,' or gradually working on certain pitchers and/or endurance. -

Well, Buehrle sounds terrible. I'll atleast feel better if this scrub Colorado is throwing against us gets shelled.
