  1. Run out of bounds, give Caleb several seconds for Hail Mary….
  2. There is so much information in there from very specific events, down to exact quotes, that it should be easy to prove/disprove. Now, do the Bears go the route of: “why do we need to validate the article with a response” or do they address it head on? Regardless of how the front office responds, if Williams goes out and looks like garbage everything in there will be “true”
  3. There’s a lot of coping going on with Bears fans after this. I’ve seen a lot of responses like, “they aren’t one piece away from winning,” “how was the Dallas defense with Parsons” “this will end up like the Mack trade for the Bears and cripple their future.” Maybe. But the Packers have earned the right to believe this will more likely work in their favor, than not. For an organization that drafts and develops well, losing two lower round 1st round picks for a top DE is a risk worth taking. If there’s a silver lining to this, I believe Hutch and Parsons alone main embarrass the Bears into having to upgrade both DE and LT. I don’t know how next years draft will shake out with both positions. I’m willing to wager both positions will need to be addressed….again. And we cannot play that BPA nonsense. If Poles has to trade up for that top tier talent and surrender future 1st round picks, so be it
  4. I can’t say I even trust Ben Johnson (regardless of his Detroit success) until he proves that he won’t be “Bears’ed.” No one deserves benefit of the doubt until they can succeed in a Bears uniform/or on the Bears sideline If there is any part of Williams that needs that little extra motivation to play well, he should have no problem finding it. The media and most fans outside of Chicago have written him off.
  5. Another rough day for the offense at training camp. And yes, I know all the excuses (“it’s early, new system, new HC, new players working together), but hearing Williams overthrow a deep ball, then under throw another pass, just immediately brings me back to the White Sox mindset of no one earning any benefit of doubt until they prove it. Those are only two passes - but two passes which summarize his issues. I’ll just settle for ONE day of, “the offense looked great today at training camp.”
  6. There’s so much to unpack from that article. Everything Caleb and his dad feared would happen, happened. What’s funny/sad to me is, at one point, Poles had to have a conversation where he tried convincing Caleb of the great coaching structure in place. One day, we’ll get his posthumous Athletic article about these last couple years and the draft process. There’s a lot riding on this year. I know we all have varying degrees on what a successful season is for Caleb; but W/L record aside, he should improve in every metric. Everything is there for him to succeed. I really believe if this doesn’t work out with Caleb, we won’t have another top QB drafted here until the McCaskeys leave.
  7. I’ll always remember Heads as one of the original admins and members of this site. Which says something of his maturity, that even as a teenager, he was moderating the Wild West years of Soxtalk. Through my time here, there was something reassuring about checking in and reading posts from the longtime members. Even through the terrible decade the White Sox have had, guys like Heads were always posting and adding to the website. Many here have stuck around for 20+ years because of the community he helped create. It is a family, of sorts. And it’s a terrible loss for Soxtalk, his friends. family, and everyone else that he knew. RIP Heads
  8. Terrible call #2
  9. Terrible start for the officials. We didn’t even have to wait very long
  10. KC 21-19 Their win is overshadowed by several terrible, late 4th quarter officiating calls which is the final push for the NFL to expand instant reply and change what is allowed to be challenged. I’m not even thinking of the “NFL is rigged for KC” conspiracy. It’s a very difficult sport to officiate, and during a close game on the big stage everything will be magnified. All anyone wants (unless on the winning side of the call) is the right decision. Maybe the NFL needs a national embarrassment to get it right in the long run
  11. If Commanders make it to the Super Bowl, Poles has to be fired. Daniels already has two road playoff wins as a rookie. You cannot survive all the blunders (failed coaches, terrible roster construction, questionable drafts), then pass on the only rookie QB in league history to bring his team to a superbowl. Fair or not, it’s just one too many screw ups to endure. But hey….:maybe he’ll get the next HC right??
  12. Everything is working for Washington. Wide open throw after wide open throw.
  13. What bothers me is everything is set up to have some oversight in the coaching search. Great, now what about the actual football operations? We don’t trust Poles to select a coach, but we trust him to build a team? If all these steps have to be put in place, there’s no point in keeping him.
  14. It really puts the whole coaching search in perspective for me, too. Maybe they really had no choice but to interview everyone. Whose opinion in the organization would you trust to limit the field to 3-5 names?
  15. Great article. That agent connection has been getting a lot of play on local sports radio stations recently. Especially while this coaching search is underway. It’s good to see national exposure on this issue It makes me wonder whether Warren is one of the good guys in all of this. Someone who is overseeing the search to make sure the best candidate is selected, and agent representation is not a factor.
  16. There’s bound to be a very interesting article written on this whole experience in a couple weeks/months. I really wonder if the Bears have received back channel news that Johnson will select the Raiders. Even with their organizational dysfunction, and equally tough division, Johnson will be given patience (for atleast a couple years). Expectations will be low and he can have a lot more input in roster construction than Chicago. It’s still a huge indictment on the Bears. I’d be willing to bet the number one issue is salary. LV will guarantee him more. Then everything else listed above adds to the decision.
  17. If I was Johnson, and really wanted to screw with the Bears on the way out of Detroit, I’d string them along as long as possible before selecting another team. How long can the Bears wait? Especially the further along Detroit moves in the playoffs. Raiders may be the choice by default.
  18. It was definitely easier to overlook passing on Stroud because of The Haul. Even after his playoff success and great rookie season, we had the #1 pick and a supposed generational talent to look forward to. On top of Moore, Wright, Stevenson and the 2025 2nd round Carolina pick. But, if Williams doesn’t work out, and Daniels/Stroud continue on their path, it is a generational fuckup to miss out on two great QBs with the #1 pick.
  19. I should have said, I’m jealous of their success (Jayden/Kliff) because Daniel’s is schemed to perfection. Washington made all the right moves. Every successful moment of Daniel’s is another realization we may have again selected the wrong QB. I know all the responses in play here (ie, “Daniels would not have succeeded here,” “QB development is not linear, look at Stroud and Young!,” “Let’s wait a couple years.” But you guys feel it too. I know you do, we’re watching the same games. You’re trying to suppress it, give all the excuses - but it’s a very real possibility. Where I feel negatively towards Washington as a team is they have been extremely lucky. So now we have to endure the Jayden Daniels magical run stories, all the while looking inward at our mess of an organization.
  20. I said it last week against Philly, and it’s true again with Tampa — there is no team luckier than Washington. I’m definitely rooting for Detroit to stomp on their throats next week.
  21. I think what annoys me so much watching Daniels is he literally being schemed to perfection. Kings bury is taking a mid tier QB and creating a situation where it very easy to succeed. Wide open targets alllll game. It’s unreal. A play breaks down, oh here’s Mclaurin sitting there. Quick throw, wide open receiver. Brown sitting by himself in the end zone, TD. Not to mention the offensive holds which are ignored nearly half the plays. He is already getting Mahomes treatment.
  22. The classic Bears response is to over correct. “We were criticized for not expanding the search when selecting a HC. So here’s 17 names. No one can say we didn’t try!” I wonder how much the “Tomlin to Bears” rumors will start heating up now. He should be in the same hot seat as McCarthy
  23. Wow you weren’t kidding. There’s maybe 5-6 wins
  24. This has to be Warren’s idea. Ask all the candidates to prepare a PowerPoint presentation for their specific plan. The more graphs, the better. Is there any way this won’t be screwed up?
  25. It will be one of those open secrets that we figure is true, but won’t know until Dan Wiederer of the Tribune confirms it after Poles is fired next season. If the cards fall that way, it’s Carroll or bust.
