QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 08:19 AM) with his 4 mil salary cap hit, he is really unmovable and now, bowman gone and extended anisomov and adding 1 mill more to his contract. now that was done even before he even skated 1 game with the team. let alone if he is recovered from his injury. sharp rtn in the trade was far less than what org wanted.... he was desperate and to entice the trade, added johns to the package, in order to get it done. a savings of 1 mil. this is outing salary subtracted from incoming salary. now, the 2 hawks players who are waiting for some room to cleared from the salary, how is their future looks?? this team sure has gotten older..... giving away promising d-man, and look at seabrook contract coming up next yr. 1. Anisomov extension won't kick in until next year. His salary for this year is 3.2. 2. Sharp was 5.9, Johns is 925K (a lot of people figured him into line ups for next year). So that's 6.8 million, Daley is 3.3 and Garbutt is 900K (Dalls retained 50% of contract) for a total of 4.2. Hawks saved 2.6 million with this deal. 3. Bickell will still be gone I think, and if they can trade Versteeg, I think they still can sign both Kruger and Oduya. Kruger is the definite though. 4. As a whole, Hawks did not get older this off season. My projected lines Panarin-Toews-Hossa Dano-Anisomov-Kane Garbutt-Teuvo-Tikhonov Desjardins-Kruger-Shaw Keith-Pokka Hammer-Rundblad/TVR Daley-Seabrook Still not bad at all. Just a matter of the rookies stepping in and playing to their potential. Plus, a full season of Teuvo now. Bickell and Versteeg are traded in this scenario

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) so according to what the hawks wanted at draft time is sure far less than what he was traded for. Everyone should of seen that. The asking price was ridiculous as is.
-
QUOTE (RegionSox @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) I guess this means we are going with Rundblad and TVR as our third defensive pairing, since i can't see us being able to bring back Oduya Ville Pokka will make this team now.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) Dallas is retaining half of Garbutt's salary in exchange for Johns being in deal. Still dumb. But as I said, with him being at 900K now and brings more "toughness", I think Versteeg and his 2.1 salary is gone now.
-
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) It frees up around $3 million. The part I don't get is that now Daley replaces Oduya, but I'm starting to believe Garbutt replaces Kruger. They're similar players but Garbutt is older. Garbutt is a winger. I think Versteeg is going to go now because of his 2.1 million salary. Garbutt at 900K is solid for a bottom 6 guy. Still think they can resign both Oduya and Kruger.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) Patrick Sharp traded to Dallas Stars. #Blackhawks acquire defenseman Trevor Daley, forward Ryan Garbutt from DAL for Patrick Sharp, Stephen Johns Best player in this deal is Stephen Johns. Unreal. LDF, I told you man, nothing of great value in the deal. Daley could be solid on the PP but Garbutt literally has no spot on this team. I see him getting flipped.

Even though he struggled at the plate, he was fine in the field. Have to start him tomorrow. See what he can do against a lefty

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) I would definitely hit Bryant. That obviously was meant to hit Abreu since he's our only HR threat. HIT A CUB soon, Rodon. Stop it. That was not meant to hit him.... -

Anybody think Rodon is starting to develop a blister on his pitching hand? He keeps looking at his hand after every pitch. -

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) Well this has definitely been an interesting game. Maybe the offense will show up now. Still amazes me that Hendricks has really not been touched up in his career so far. -

Remember when Braulio Ortiz was a top 20 prospect on mlb.com last year? Yeah that was a joke lol. He is awful

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 06:15 AM) Almonte for Beckham. Blackmar and Chalas for DeAza Delmonico we picked up after he was released (by the Brewers?) That is correct. And all of them are having pretty decent seasons.
