Hard pass on Chrochet. Injuries and reliever risk. Has shown no evidence his arm can handle a starters load. Needs more development with his delivery. Has a short stride which causes shoulder injuries, which occurred this season.

Yeah, I agree with you.  I think there will be better options than him at 11.

Do we have a chance with Cespedas? I haven’t seen us mentioned with him but I might have missed it. And when does this all come down as in when can they sign? Thanx

Yes, we have a chance with both Cespedes and Colas.

Now that I found out that Crochet is a likely reliever, I hope that Detmers falls or they take Kjerstad.

Kjerstad.  Blah.  Another college outfielder?  I think that's the last pick they'll go to.  Kjerstad is power or he's nothing.

  4. I do not get the Hjerstad love.  His swing looks stiff and I can see a lot of swing and miss in his game at the next level.  Does not project well as a CF either with average arm strength and not great speed.  I see him as a LF and I'll take the Sox OF prospects in the system over him.

If he was a HSer, maybe, but major pass as a 21 year old turning 22 in February with one loud tool (power).

At 11 pick Detmers, Crochet,  or Kjerstad and I'd be happy . Like?

Detmers will be gone.  Kjerstad, another college outfielder?  Why?  I could see Crochet, but he is a massive risk/reward type player.

I really think Sox go HS with Ed Howard or Jared Kelley

  6. I'm with James here.  No way I see the Sox taking a college hitter this year.  Jared Kelly or Ed Howard are my top two choices at 11 assuming no one falls.

I wonder now that Howard is projecting to go lower that they can under slot him in the first round and push another HS talent back to 49 and over slot there.  It'll be a very interesting draft this year imo.

In regards to college pitching, I do like Crochet, but like many of you I do have concerns.   I really think going prep is the way to go this year.

Murphy has turned into a fairly serviceable guy, thought he was having a decent season. (Agreeing with you, ha).

Hawks still need a lot of work, but hopefully the upcoming core can start to provide a foundation for the future.

I'm a big fan of Murphy.  He'll be that veteran too on the backhand after Keith.  He could be one half of a defensive line like back in the day with Hammer and Oduya.

Thanks for agreeing with me, Tony :)

They are strong at catcher without him. He is now a back up. I could see a point if you wanted to DH him against LHP, but with EE and Abreu, are you going to sit one of those guys against lefties for James McCann? Name me the last back up catcher who was the difference between their team being a playoff team and missing out? McCann, unless he is horrible this year won’t be back for 2021 anyway. He will look for a place to be the starting catcher. The Sox gave Grandal a boatload of money. He is going to get a heavy load of starts. The back up catcher isn’t a huge role right now like it was in the past when the Sox had no elite catchers.

    David Ross.

Real talk though lol, I agree.  Trade him and keep Collins on the 26 man please.
