    QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) Kind of a bummer Johnson didn't make it, but not a surprise. I'm surprised to be honest. He has some of the best numbers in the minors.

    http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130625 Anybody have the baseball prospectus top 50 list they posted today? Interested to see if Hawkins or E. Johnson cracked the list.

    QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) Micah- 2 for 3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB 3 for 4 now with 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, and 1 SB. Anderson ended up going 1 for 4 with a triple and 3 K's.

    QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) No, he tripled first time up, 2nd time up he was HBP and stole a base. Yup, just realized that. Should probably read closer next time.

    Am I reading this right? Did Anderson steal home?

    Anyone know anything on Rangel Ravelo? He seems to be doing nicely in WS. Courtney Hawkins needs to be sent to Kannapolis, striking out multiple times a game is doing nothing for his confidence.

  12. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) Why would you think better stuff will come with time? There is no plausible reason for you to think so. I think being around other professionals helps many pitchers develop new pitches. Why do you think he has hit his ceiling?
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) I would go with Santiago over Quintana if I had to choose which one of the two to hold on to. Tough call, I think I still go Quintana. He has a better WAR, BB/9, and K/BB ratio. Sure the strikeouts numbers don't stick out as much as Hector's, but with more time in the league, I think better stuff will come. Quintana is also a year younger and an extra season away from free agency.
  14. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) I also am curious to why Quintana is being overvalued. Starting pitchers who can't go 6 innings and don't have an out pitch aren't that great. If we held onto all of our starters going into '14 (yes unlikely, but for arguement's sake), Quintana is our 6th most talented starter. Going to have to disagree with you. If they keep everyone, Quintana is your third best pitcher. It should be Danks, but he's been hit pretty hard this year.
  15. The only way you move Sale is if you are blown away by the offer and your system is stocked immediately after the trade. I would probably loathe the Sox for moving him, but I would understand. The proposed Cardinals package would do it, but not much else. Maybe something like Taillon, Polanco, Hanson, and a few other prospects would do it from the Pirates.
  16. In his first pro game, Trey went 0 for 1 with 2 walks and an error
  17. Trey Michalczewski, 3B @T_Michalczewski Born in Jenks, OK 6’3", 195 Throws: R Bats: S OVERVIEW/SCOUTING INFO Trey Michalczewski played shortstop and second base at Jenks (Okla.) High School, but will almost certainly move to third base in the White Sox organization after he was drafted in the seventh round on Day 2 of the First-Year Player Draft on Friday. Michalczewski has always had power. He hit eight home runs as a sophomore and four as a junior but produced career-best numbers as a senior, when he hit nine home runs and drove in 46 runs while boasting a .449 batting average. He's helped lead Jenks to two regional titles in the past two years. He has a good approach at the plate and his bat speed allows him to let the ball get deep in the strike zone before starting to swing. Listed at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, Michalczewski already has good size and projects to have good power, which profiles better at the hot corner. He is a solid defender at short with a strong arm and should easily make the transition to third. Michalczewski is committed to Oklahoma, but he has previously said he's always dreamed of playing professional baseball. SCHOOL NOTES Jenks (Okla.) High School, was committed to Oklahoma prior to signing with White Sox SIGN/DRAFT The White Sox announced the signing of seventh-round draft choice Trey Michalczewski who will receive a $500K bonus, which is $323.4K above the recommended slot (per Baseball America).
  18. Sox should just trade Alexei, Crain, and cash to the Tigers for Nick Castellanos.
  19. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) I saw in the Tribune today that both Tim Anderson and Keon Barnum will be heading to Kannapolis. Why are they sending Barnum just now?
  20. I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox pull one of the following: Gregory Polanco (Pirates) Mike Olt (Rangers) - Started the year down but has started to come around Carlos Martinez (Cardinals) Kolton Wong (Cardinals) The likelihood of the Sox getting any of those guys is probably slim to none, but I would be ecstatic if they somehow landed one
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) I think a few people are too bullish on Michalczewski. He got third round type money, not first round. He's a nice get and a good prospect, but he shouldn't be near Barnum. The excitement may be a little premature, but I really liked how he looked in all the prospect videos I saw. He's got a smooth, compact swing that generates a lot of pop from both sides of the plate and his frame is perfect for third base. It may just be grasping at straws, but I think he could end up being the real deal.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) Welcome to Soxtalk. Interesting to see 5 of the 10 are guys drafted in the last two years. Thanks for the welcomes, appreciate it. I think they have drafted much better in the last two years than they did before, that's why I have so many guys from those drafts in my top 10. As for the Erik Johnson debate, I've also seen that he sits right around 92-93 but can get into the mid 90's at times. Even so, if he was topping out in the 80's, he must be doing something right to be getting the type of numbers he has. I think right now he is looking like a #2 upside type of guy.
  23. 1.) Erik Johnson 2.) Tim Anderson 3.) Courtney Hawkins 4.) Trayce Thompson 5.) Micah Johnson 6.) Carlos Sanchez 7.) Tyler Danish 8.) Keon Barnum 9.) Trey Michalczewski 10.) Andrew Mitchell
