  1. Sox aren't going to get Polanco. I would go absolutely crazy if they did, but it won't happen. I think if this happens, we will be looking at Hanson, Kingham or Glasnow, and a low level prospect. We would have to be paying a fair amount of contract for that situation though.
  2. It's safe to say he's one of the best, if not the best, pitcher in the game. Both those strikeouts weren't even close to making contact.
  3. If the Cubs are asking for Feliz, I am immediately hanging up the phone on them
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 16, 2013 -> 10:25 AM) Olt or bust. He might not make it, but he is close to the show and has the kind of impact potential that could make this rebuild happen in a hot hurry. He has done nothing this year to warrant wanting him in a trade
  5. Didn't really think about that, my apologies
  6. I mean, they need pitching and don't need Joc Peterson right?
  7. I'm not going to lie, I am kinda shocked so many of you are so low on Rios. Ya, he's cooled lately, but he is a damn good baseball player and I think he is definitely a nice piece to be had at the trade deadline. If the Sox didn't get something worthwhile for him, I see no point in moving him. Getting fringe prospects at best isn't really worth trading him for.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 06:52 AM) http://riveraveblues.com/2013/07/2013-pote...-part-iv-89546/ Discuss. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/minnesota-twi...-062700949.html Article on Justin Morneau, another name mentioned frequently as Option B/C/D behind Morales at 1B/DH. No thanks to all the ones in the first article. Morneau intrigues me though.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 06:07 AM) Well here's something. Buster Olney tweeted that the DBacks have been looking at Peavy and that the Sox have had scouts at their games to watch Randall Delgado. What you guys think? That would be an interesting deal. On one hand, Delgado has had decent numbers so far in his major league starts. On the other hand. I would rather get positional talent for a guy like Peavy. Would much rather get Matt Davidson out of the deal and I think he is pretty blocked.
  10. Nice article for sure. Thanks for posting it.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) I think we are way, way overvaluing Chris in this thread. He's not Jesus Christ I mean, he's pretty close
  12. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) That he has finally "figured it out"?? He's looking good at the plate and it seems the times where he's getting completely blown away is nearly non existent from the limited AB's I've seen out of him this year. After 147 AB's, he has a .347 BA and .817 OPS. I know we have him under control for another year or two but is this the time to sign him to a team friendly extension? If we wait until the end of the year, and he finished the year hitting somewhere around .320 with a .800 + OPS, he may just choose to ride out his arbitration year or two and go for the bigger payday. He's a marketable guy and could be a decent guy to build around to keep the average fan excited about the team as well. Please discuss. Was going to make this thread today, I think it's officially time to be excited about Beckham's season. Ya, he's been a pretty big disappointment so far in the MLB, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he may have figured this out. He should be a piece of the Sox future without a doubt.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) Worth noting their OPS+ numbers, which do ballpark factors and take into account the rest of the league. Frank Thomas, 1994: 212 Miguel Cabrera, 2013: 200. Frank had 7 seasons with an OPS+ over 170. Cabrera is in his 3rd. My lord that's insane, even I didn't realize that Frank's numbers were like that. First ballot HOFer no doubt in my mind
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) Update? I can't watch the game at work. This.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) https://twitter.com/DanHayesCSN/status/355055545486544896 "price for Thornton is steep". Um, ok. "One rival exec" also said the price of Hughes is high

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) One mustn't forget, there's likely to be some racism (subtle or overt) at play here as well. But that discussion is opening up a whole different can of worms. Never go full retard
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 11:22 AM) That means Micker Zapata's in the Top 10 as well. Don't like seeing two relievers in the top group, but hopefully Danish can remain as a starter...although short relief would be the fastest route to the big leagues, it wouldn't help him develop his full repertoire of pitches. And we can assume Jared Mitchell is completely out of the Top 25. Not sure I agree with that, either. Article said Zapata isn't ranked
  18. I think Ravelo should be higher and Micah Johnson should probably be in the top 10, but otherwise I think the list is pretty solid
  19. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 08:21 AM) Cardinals fan here. I have enjoyed reading this thread and learning of all your insights into a potential Ramirez trade to the Cardinals. I suspect that the Cardinals have interest in Ramirez but I am unsure if the Cardinals GM (Mozeliak) will pay the pereived price. One question that I have for you is whether the White Sox would have to get a SS in return from any trade of Ramirez? If the answer is yes, then the Cardinals two choices would be Kozma or Jackson (Ryan)/AAA Memphis. I am not a GM but would this cause Hahn to pull the trigger: Wong Kozma or Jackson one additional prospect (probably on the pitching side) I would be ecstatic with Wong back for Alexei. That probably means Beckham is shifting to SS then which Im not sure I like, but that would be a solid middle infield to me.
  20. Did that DP really just happen? Wasnt he just doubled off at third on sunday?
  21. I have no idea how guys like Heaney, Meyer, Ranaudo, etc. are rated above Johnson
  22. Still find it kinda ridiculous that Erik Johnson can't crack this list personally, but Im kinda accepting that people will hate the Sox farm system until they start drafting in the top 10 year after year http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/mids...p-50-prospects/
