  1. Rick Hahn is on fire. He has my full support in any move going forward. Love an offense anchored by Abreu and Garcia going forward!
  2. I HAVE SUCH A RAGING CLUE RIGHT NOW! Thank you Rick! http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/10/whit...riel-abreu.html
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) Getting excited about the prospect of 150 games of Abreu, Semien, and Avi Garcia. New blood. Agreed, the thought of a young, overhauled lineup gets me moist
  4. Didn't the Astros just move Jonathan Singleton to the 40 man as well?
  5. @Buster_ESPN: Bidding on Cuba defector Jose Abreu is expected to be for a $70 million deal, sources say. White Sox,Astros, Rangers viewed as frontrunners.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) As for my 31 AB comment, it is true. Most professional players require 0 major league ABs to determine they aren't going to be very good. Ugh, what?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 08:21 AM) Deep and well articulated. Well worth a new thread. Im sorry, I see it in any thread remotely involving him right now. Sure he is relatively mobile, but his defensive metrics in no way show we belongs in CF. With defense being an enormous weakness of the Sox this season, I see no reason for the Sox to weaken themselves defensively further and put him in CF.
  8. Please stop talking about moving him to CF.
  9. 1.) White Sox 2.) 7 3.) $78 Million
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) yeah, if that happens, it won't be the Sox doing it. Reality is that Granderson will get a fraction of Pence's deal. Without a doubt. I can see 3 yrs at $36, but no chance he is going to get 5 or $90 MM
  11. MLBTR is saying that they expect something like the Pence deal and we would lose our second round pick. No thank you.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) It is the step that tells everyone you are looking at being respectable ASAP. It is the type of step took when the Tigers were offering insane amounts of money to guys like Magglio and Gonzalez to try to make the statement that Detroit was a place worth going to after years of horrible teams. I dont think anybody in the MLB is saying "The Sox signed Curtis Granderson? Holy s*** I wanna get there, he would provide me with the protection I've been missing". Use that money towards a player that will make a difference for a long time like McCann.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 5, 2013 -> 11:48 AM) http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/...ing-jose-abreu/ Looks like Marlins, Giants, or Rangers. Blind bids are supposed to be in today. How long does the bid process typically take to play out?
  14. If Hahn thinks Granderson is a step towards "long term, sustainable success" this franchise is more screwed than I thought.
  15. Abreu and McCann are tops on my wishlist as well, but I think I am just setting myself up for disappointment there. Wouldnt mind seeing the Sox trade Santiago and Beckham.
  16. I know this thread has already been made this season, but I would just like to state again how great Chris Sale is and how amazing his season has been. He makes me proud to be a Sox fan and I cannot wait to watch him continue to dominate the AL for years to come.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) Honestly, I think he should be anywhere in the 30 to 60 range. The only thing that really hurts his prospect value is that he doesn't have ace potential, but I seriously doubt you could find more than a handfull of SP prospects with higher floors than him. Short of injury, he will be a solid starting pitcher at the major league level and I think the odds are very good he's at least a #3 starter long-term. IMO, he should be closer to 30 than 60, but most of these sites value ceiling much higher than they do floor. Either way, Johnson proved this year he's a legit prospect and hopefully is a key part of our rotation for years to come. Agreed, I think his upside as an extremely good #3 and a solid #2 should put him in the 30-40 range. I can definitely see him ranked near 60 though, and I will be fine with that as I am confident he will be a key contributor on this staff for years to come.
  18. That's the future of your Chicago White Sox right there ladies and gentlemen
  19. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 03:01 PM) From what I've been told, it sounds like they plan to pursue Abreu very aggressively. You never know what closes it, but it won't be for lack of trying. Fantastic!
  20. My hope for next season: CF De Aza 2B Beckham SS Ramirez 1B Abreu DH Dunn RF Garcia LF Viciedo C Phegley 3B Chip from Santiago trade SP Sale SP Johnson SP Quintana SP Danks SP Rienzo CL Reed RP Jones RP Petricka RP Webb RP Logan
  21. Anyone know a place I can see the AJ tribute video?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) Not sure, but it is a nice problem to have, yeah? Sale, Danks, Quintana, Santiago, Rienzo, Johnson... pick your 5. As for Danks, he's in his first season back from surgery. No one should expect him to be back to form - he is getting innings, much as Peavy did his first season back. Next year is the real test. I have tempered my expectations for Danks for this entire season prior to it starting, but regardless, I think that most of those guys can get the same job done at a fraction of the price. Since I imagine he will be a pain in the ass to move, I wouldn't mind seeing them moving Santiago. I know he has solid numbers and has pitched well this year, but there is something there just not passing the eye test to me. I dont find his offspeed stuff to be as good as Quintana's. Ideally, I would love a rotation of Sale-Johnson-Quintana-Rienzo-Danks next year.

Who is the odd man out in the rotation next year? Seems to me Erik Johnson needs to be up here and there are too many pitchers doing solid work at the major league level for the Sox. God I would love to get rid of Danks and that contract.
  24. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) Had to laugh, 100 K's to 9 BB's. 9 walks in almost 460 plate appearances, that's some serious swinging. Thought this was for a pitcher, then I saw your second sentence
