Surprisingly watched a lot of the Tigers series. Wanted to watch Garcia after missing the Twins series.
-
Fielding mistakes are still there by the bunches, but the offense has been far more fun to watch. Still a lot of work to be done, but this team has been much more palatable lately.

Who is the most exciting player in the Sox organization (major and min

1.) Chris Sale 2.) Chris Sale 3.) Chris Sale 4.) Avisail Garcia 5.) Whoever we draft in the first round next year -
Did anybody else know there is a guy named Storm Throne on Kannapolis? That is ridiculous

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) The funny thing is (and a favorite topic of yours truly) that our attendance has been ONLY 1,000 fans below our rate from last season, with one of THE WORST and least memorable seasons in Sox history, even much worse than 2007 because of the lack of proximity to 2005 AND the lack of "exciting" young rookies like Josh Fields, Owens, Andy Gonzalez and Ehren Wasserman. So either the reduced ticket prices (especially on Sundays/family days) have mitigated the losses, or we did an incredibly poor job of marketing last year's team or getting anyone to believe in them. I went to so many games last year, was so happy I could get good cheap seats all the time

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 04:00 PM) It's Jerry Callo, with a C Im not sure if Im missing a joke here or something, but he is referring to Joey Gallo. I dont know if I could have him and Courtney Hawkins in the same lineup down the road, that might just be too ugly.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 03:34 PM) The Rangers will face pressure from their fan base if they know they could have had Rios and didn't get him. It's a good bet the "leak" originated from Chicago. Ya, looking through that lineup, they could really use him
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) So, exclude the 40 man roster. Who do the Rangers have that would really interest people as a Rios Return? Alfaro would be my top priority, but after that I think it would go Odor then Sardinas.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 02:20 PM) Then spend it on Choo and move Dayan to 1B. Is there any way they can trade Dayan for something? Anything?
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) 2) Get $15 million off the books, and go about trying to fix 1B or 3B. I dont know how much you've looked at the upcoming free agent class, but there isn't a fix there for either position

QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) Hawk was just talking about some of our prospects. Besides Semien, he mentioned Webb, Garcia, E Johnson. They are no Charlie Leesman
-
While that's great in theory, when has that really been practiced? I ask because I have no recollection of a team trading a bad contract along with a top prospect for nothing. Though I appreciate his otherwise positive outlook on the White Sox organization, Bernstein doesnt know s*** about White Sox. He knows nothing absolutely nothing about the farm system and doesnt actually follow most games.
-
Daniel Webb is completely crushing over his last 10 games, between him, Petrivka, Jomes, and Reed, I'm liking the bullpen for next season.
-
Soxfest is gonna be hilarious next year. I am definitely making sure I am there for the Q&A.
-
So is Semien hurt or getting called up to Charlotte?

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 01:49 PM) The games are in Chicago. How interesting will it be if more people are cheering for the Astros than for the White Sux? It should be fun times. Wish I could be there. While I do think it would be hilarious if people cheered at the park for the Astros, it would also be disgraceful

This season would be funny if it wasn't so sad

Here is a breakdown of what we already have designated for next year: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensa...am=CHA&pos= I dont imagine any player will be getting a whole lot in arbitration, so the Sox should have a good amount to work with
-
Interested in where you guys think the money we saved on Peavy and the contracts we have coming off the books for Konerko, etc. is going to be put towards going into next season. Obviously there is still a chance that someone could be picked up off of waivers in the next month, but I am going in assuming this is largely the roster we have next season. What do you hope they spend on and what do you hope the opening day roster is?
-
One downside to this deadline though, I was really hoping to see Avisail get some time out in the OF from here to the end of the season

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) Rios is fine, but depending on the year, his bat is either near All-Star or a total noodle. That sort of thing will inspire more confidence in buyers when they're stuck with just .5 to 1 yr of paying for it. Agreed. I'm fine not moving him, I've maintained that all along, he has been one of the few bright spots on offense this season and he atleast gives them a chance at something next year if his bat decides to show up.
-
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) Sale is the guy you should think would be traded easily, were we to want it. yes. You apparently are shocked people didnt want Rios or Alexei (I guess). That's the part I need explained. I think they are better players than this board or this fanbase give them credit for. Not sure why teams dont think they would be valuable to have in a playoff run.
-
Per Gonzales @MDGonzales: Rios said Hahn told his agent that being traded was a possibility but nothing materialized
-
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) This is the reverse of sensible logic. If you think this team is bad then why are other teams supposed to be paying up big for our players? It cant be both. So by your logic, the Sox are good because Chris Sale is good or Chris Sale is bad because the Sox are bad? Lol

That's all folks. Hopefully something comes down the line shortly. Terrible trade deadline for a dead ass team.
