I agree with you completely but I really hope the Sox are ready to blow that previous high out the water. I want 170/180 payrolls when this team is in its competitive window.of course hopefully with players that are possible final pieces for a championship and not a couple Jason Heywards

Ha ha Same here. Id rather see the sox learn from the mistakes other teams have made in the past. Just look at the wasted money in the link below. They easily could have had Harper had they spent their money more wisely in the past.Β

    Seems like a defeatist attitude.

Payroll is so low and inflation will allow White Sox to break that 128M by quite a bit. Market is low on Harper/Machado, now would be a great time to strike for both of them.

You shouldn't be so quick to let the front office pocket the money. Let's see results.

This is very short sighted. If the Sox are going to have money in theΒ future to lock up players as well as sign future free agents then spending 70-80M annually for two players makes little sense.Β

I'd hope the Sox sign both,Β  but if they only sign one, I would rather it would be Harper.Β  There's no reason they shouldn't be the high bidder for both when all is said and done.

I don't think spending 70-80M annually for two players on a team thats payroll has never gone above 128M is the wisest idea. I'm happy the Sox aren't getting both.

Finding out what his day to day travel was, I can't imagine it was really that difficult of a decision even with his love for the organization and sport. Β Getting home at 3am after a 7pm previous day start? Β GTFOH

Good point kyyle, at Hawks age the decision was probably easier than I thought.

It seems like people don’t remember at all what Ozzie was like in 2009-2011 and especially the circus with his kids.

I don't know how anyone could forget that. I think some prefer to ignore it like it never happened. I swear Deadpool's phrase "shit show" was inspired by The Show 2010.Β

You're confident in the burner account package?Β  Β Regardless, all have talent.Β  No reason to move Rivera...middleΒ  infielders are scarce, which is why orgs like the Dodgers stockpile them.Β Β  I'm pretty sure Minaya, Cordell and Madeiros won't be on the next playoff team....2 of those guys came for 2 excellent relievers so they should work.

With Leury, Sanchez and Rondon already backups to TA/Moncada, where does Rivera fit into the picture? Then there's Madrigal coming up behind Rivera. Nothing against Laz but he's very expendable.

  6. What's the problem? Just because SD officially throws their hat into the mix doesn't mean they will sign him. They even said they jumped in because the bids were lower than expected, which they should. During winter we've seen the Sox, Yanks and Phillies favored to sign or were about to sign Machado. It's the end of January and he hasn't signed yet. Don't freak over ever rumor, they are just rumors.
